Very good submission! The mechanics themselves feel very intuitive (even though I suck at these types of game), and am very glad that there is a tutorial in-game. The dialog is very humorous, and I like both the floaty effect of the text, as well as the fact that there is sound effects for the text. The sound effects in the game are also very satisfying (especially the "thump" when falling from great heights, and a simple screen shake). The art style is simple, but fits the game very well. All in all a very well made game!
Very impressive for your second game jam!
The dialogue is great, the idea is awesome, and the artstyle is fitting. It's just so damn frustrating I'm getting flashbacks from Getting Over It. Awesome job!
I love the lore! The mechanics, at time are rage inducing but can be extremely satisfying as well - I fell off a large cliff all the way to the bottom :'( after finally getting past like 3 tall ledges. The black and white colour palette is a nice aesthetic.
I find it interesting the only form of colour in the world is the girl version of the ball, which cleverly emphasizes the connection, great game design!
Lacks music, this game might be the next big "Rage inducing game", since you can lost a lot o progress. I don't know about the downloadable versions, but the html version stutters a bit from time to time. Really like that when you fall from a high place there's this big boom effect.
Yeah, I didn't implement music because I'm lazy and settled for ambient wind. I'm really not sure what causes the little white flash stutters, but i think it has something to do with godots autotile system. Thanks for the review!
I would have liked to hear some music or ambiance. There are particles flying around implying wind, but no sound for it, but the pixel art is really nice. It's also super fun! I find the characters not that difficult to control, but most of the difficulty of the game seems to come from having the patience to re-do sections whenever you fall too far. I had to give up quite the ways up the mountain after taking a nasty fall, but maybe I wouldn't have if I knew how close I was to the peak. Maybe some way to know how much there is to go would have been nice. It's definitely one of my favourites of the jam!
Thanks a lot for the review! I did implement ambient wind noise, I'm not sure why you couldn't hear it, maybe its a problem with the html export? Thanks for playing it anyway! (Edit: I just tested the html export and could hear my wind noise, I'm not sure what the problem was)
I just played some again and yeah, I can hear the wind noise now. It's pretty silent so I probably just didn't hear it. Or my brain just tuned it out because I was focusing so much on not falling down lol. My bad.
This is a wonderful game. Pixel art simple but very cool. I like it very much
This game was top notch! Very well made :) It has huge "getting over it" vibes (especially when I fell down to the beginning... lol)
The art direction is really cool, and the game teaches you how to play very well. My favourite thing has to be the story however. Some really great humour and character building.
The green slime walls seemed a little buggy. I couldn't consistently fling myself off of them. But perhaps I was doing it wrong?
Great game dude :)
Thanks for playing and for the great feedback! The slime may be a bit buggy because I'm not the best at coding lol, all the slime really does is override your gravity to be really strong and towards the slime, so sometimes it eats your jump... it usually works if you fling yourself roughly straight off of it but its still something to fix in the post jam.
Cool game! Would have loved to explore it more as the controls are interesting but it was way too punishing for me to
keep my sanity. Thanks for playing! Don't worry, your not alone judging by the comments :P
Challenging on a trackpad but still enjoyed trying to climb the mountain before falling all the way down spectacularly, loved the particles and sound design!
Really loved the style and the wit of this game, I would love to see a fleshed out story about these characters! Only suggestion is that it's pretty tricky to consistently "grab" the ball and then aim, so maybe just using a button (spacebar/left click) to select the ball and then pressing again to release? Well done!
this is pretty dope, I would love to play a fully-fledged version of this game because I see some potential for a successful raging game, well done.
I find this game extremely hard and this kind of restart over from very long back is something I don't want to pull off knowing that the game will be submitted in this kind of event. While there are 400 more games people can get to try instead of one which is impossible to progress.
The gameplay is not assisting enough and I don't really like the control much.
Overall the game is hard. I can't fully explore the level design. The art is ok.
Yea, I'm realizing now that people aren't gonna want to put enough time into this to have fun when there are 400 other games to play lol. I should've swallowed my pride and added a checkpoint system. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing !
I immediately got stuck after the tutorial dialog ended , fell down and started over 7 times XD
I really loved this game. But it's a little bit hard to complete. The dialouge box and art is awesome
Wait did you beat it? I'm surprised somebody put that much time and effort into this. If so well done, if not thanks for playing anyway!
I was at the last and then i fall lol😅. But the game is so fun. Please make sure to play my game.
I fell at the part where you shimmy up the totem structure, and landed at the start of the level gg
darn might have made it too hard lol, thanks for playing!
Super polished and really well designed! Honestly I can't believe you managed this in just a week. Great work!
I rage quitted but it had a nice retro style and the gameplay was nice
very fun game! good job!
This is a good Getting Over It-like game. The controls work well and things happen the way you think that they should. I'm not good at this sort of game so I didn't beat it, but what I did make it through had some good ideas. The art style is great too.
