It's a nice horror experience, could probably look better if the textures weren't so blurry. Also, I'm not sure how the theme is present in the game.
Cool game, I really like the ending. The art style was really nice too and the controls felt really nice. You set the mood really nicely and have built something that could really go somewhere.
The gameplay needed to be fleshed out a little more though, like for the example the crawl button wasn't really utilized at all.
I love what you've done for a weeks work though. Great job! :)
totally nailed it with the horror feels. gameplay can be improved further. Please finish this game Ill be watching in on this one.
Great game! Loved the graphics and audio. There wasn't a whole lot to the game, but the story was well done with a nice open-ended ending where I can use my own imagination to guess what happened, which was pretty cool. You definitely made a really nice horror game packed into a short experience. I was a bit disappointed that the sneaking mechanic doesn't actually have a whole lot of an effect on anything (though I do think it's neat how the other guy just talks to you regularly with blood all over him, gives a nice creepy vibe) and I ran into a bug where after playing the first time and going back to the main menu, if I play again, the first part before the basement doesn't seem to reload (the other dad isn't in the kitchen, I still have the key, etc) but other than those things I really liked the game! Well done.
Thanks for playing, the sneaking mechanic doesn't do anything. My original plan was to incorporate footsteps sound and the guy will turn around towards you if you make too much noise. But it was too much of a hassle to program so I decided to scrap all of it.
I forgot to reset the state of the game once you complete the game and do a 2nd playthrough so all your inventory items are still there. I'm planning to fix this after the voting period is over.
Thanks again for the long and detailed comments.
The game was very creepy, nice job making a scary atmosphere. I especially like the camera movement when running/walking. The only suggestion I would make would be to make the text to open a door, etc a darker color as the doors being the same color as the text made it hard to read. But other than that I enjoyed it.
It was terrifying,And i loved the story!the atmosphere and the ambience were great
I didn't get the connection to the theme but the game was great!Amazing Job!
You definitely set a mood from the beginning. I was audibly like “oooh” when the menu popped up, haha. Soo tense! The lack of music during the game really added to the intensity. Very creepy atmosphere. Reminded me of the feeling I had playing RE7. I think it could have benefitted from a bit more ambient sound though to ratchet up that dread even more. Also, while I did enjoy the end twist, it did feel kind of short. It would be really fun to see what would happen next after that set up. Another thing, I ended up sneaking the whole time, but then got really close to the antagonist at one point, and had my flashlight on him, so I’m not sure if there was a fail state where you could get caught or not? If not, that would be a really cool addition!
A few bugs I ran into:
Hi, thanks for playing! RE7 is one of my favorite game, I'm flattered that my game reminded you of it.
There is no fail safe in this game, but if you enter its line of sight, there would be a special dialogue of "Papa". I see a lot of players just bump into him or shine the flashlight onto him but nothing happens and just move on. I should have added a collision trigger instead of just a line of sight to trigger the dialogue.
The flashlight clipping on doorframe creeped me out too, although it was unintended. I'm still trying to find a way to fix it.
Thanks again for the detailed comments!
Really terrifying. The house creeped me out in all the right ways, and the spatial audio and music choices were perfect!
Great horror game. Has the feels and the whistling at the end with stranger danger at the door was great!
really horrible environment, I love it, good job!
Like any good horror game, this one had me wanting to sneak at almost all times. Did I need to? I don't know, but it sure felt like it haha. GLaDOS would be proud as well.
I really like the creepy atmosphere going on in this game. It's nice to see a good horror submission for the jam! Good scares good spooks. If you're looking for a good horror experience from this jam, you got one right here.
I'm big into horror and like this game. A well thought out horror experience. Nice work!
The ending sent shivers down my spine. Really well done.
Great game - so much atmosphere, a little humor, but overall scary. Thanks for the experience
Whoa yep that was pretty spooky. Well made. Lots of well done elements. My favorite was way the camera bobbed up and down when you're running. Great angle distrusting the parents of your kid's friends also.
Thanks for playing. Headbobbing sometimes is a hit or miss. Some love it for the immersion some hate it as it is dizzying.
Thanks for playing. I can't take credit for most of the stuff as I used many pre-made assets, which allows me to focus on the game design aspect. Credits to them in my game's description.
Love the atmosphere of this one. Impressive given the time you had
This game awoke little child in me that is now scared to go and take a piss... Great job!!!
Nope. No. No way. No no no. Just let me drive away. Please
This is a great idea, I should add an ending which allows the player to drive away, then you get a bad ending.
