The game was very creepy, nice job making a scary atmosphere. I especially like the camera movement when running/walking. The only suggestion I would make would be to make the text to open a door, etc a darker color as the doors being the same color as the text made it hard to read. But other than that I enjoyed it.

It was terrifying,And i loved the story!the atmosphere and the ambience were great
I didn't get the connection to the theme but the game was great!Amazing Job!
You definitely set a mood from the beginning. I was audibly like “oooh” when the menu popped up, haha. Soo tense! The lack of music during the game really added to the intensity. Very creepy atmosphere. Reminded me of the feeling I had playing RE7. I think it could have benefitted from a bit more ambient sound though to ratchet up that dread even more. Also, while I did enjoy the end twist, it did feel kind of short. It would be really fun to see what would happen next after that set up. Another thing, I ended up sneaking the whole time, but then got really close to the antagonist at one point, and had my flashlight on him, so I’m not sure if there was a fail state where you could get caught or not? If not, that would be a really cool addition!
A few bugs I ran into:
- It seemed the flashlight clipped on some of the edges of the doorframes, which cut the light out abruptly. It actually added to some of the creepiness, but if that wasn’t intended it might be worth looking into.
Hi, thanks for playing! RE7 is one of my favorite game, I'm flattered that my game reminded you of it.
There is no fail safe in this game, but if you enter its line of sight, there would be a special dialogue of "Papa". I see a lot of players just bump into him or shine the flashlight onto him but nothing happens and just move on. I should have added a collision trigger instead of just a line of sight to trigger the dialogue.
The flashlight clipping on doorframe creeped me out too, although it was unintended. I'm still trying to find a way to fix it.
Thanks again for the detailed comments!
Really terrifying. The house creeped me out in all the right ways, and the spatial audio and music choices were perfect!
Great horror game. Has the feels and the whistling at the end with stranger danger at the door was great!
really horrible environment, I love it, good job!
I really like the creepy atmosphere going on in this game. It's nice to see a good horror submission for the jam! Good scares good spooks. If you're looking for a good horror experience from this jam, you got one right here.
I'm big into horror and like this game. A well thought out horror experience. Nice work!
Great game - so much atmosphere, a little humor, but overall scary. Thanks for the experience
Whoa yep that was pretty spooky. Well made. Lots of well done elements. My favorite was way the camera bobbed up and down when you're running. Great angle distrusting the parents of your kid's friends also.
This game awoke little child in me that is now scared to go and take a piss... Great job!!!
The atmosphere of the horror game is spot on, you have managed to trouble me in such a short span of time, which is a definite success of the game. Considering the game was made in just a week for the jam, the level design is just enough and makes the horror atmosphere just right. Having said that, the story ended up a bit too soon for my liking, I wanted more, which is also a good thing at the same time though!
Here's the issue, I love the idea of horror games. The story, the ambience, the methods used to instill the feeling of dread and terror in the player. I make games and tell stories because I love to make people feel things.
However that being said, I am an absolute wuss. It is currently noon in a full house and I am still so scared to play this D:
I'm just gonna pretend like I don't have a choice and need to play it. If there is a jump scare I swear I'm gonna rate 1/5 on everything.
Will edit with my thoughts after.
Have run into the man staring at a wall. Too afraid to move forward. I hate you.
Decided screw it and ran at him but after getting close got scared and ran away again. I seem to be at an impasse. :(
Final thoughts after finishing.
Fun and simple yet wow that spooked me. Like another reviewer said knowing that something was gonna happen at some point scared the hell out of me. Chills at the end. Great game chief.
Fun little horror game! Horror has a special place in my heart, and this definitely creeped me out. The feeling of not knowing what or how things will happen but anticipating SOMETHING is going to happen. I feel like you did that wonderfully.
If I gave a critique, I would say the level design needs some more thought. I know the blood and dirty environment adds to the creep factor, but if your goal is to make a good story within the horror game, I would say add some 'brightness or cheer' to it to REALLY contrast when the horror aspects come into play. Make the player feel safe...until they're not. That being said, I know this was done in a short game jam. You did more than I could in this short of a time. I followed you on Twitter to keep up to date with any games you make!
