This is our third LOWREZJAM working together and they are always a blast!
Was the resolution a challenge?
I LOVE the resolution of this jam, but the main hardships with this rez is handling the texts and HUD. I love making HUDs. Keeping the core gameplay simple means a simple interface and an easier experience.
What did you learn?
Each year I try to make something new. This jam helps me become better at keeping a project within scope and perspective. As well as reminding us how sometimes the smallest issues can take up most of our time.

Cool and fun game! The ending is great.
Thank you so much for playing! I'm glad you liked the end :D
Very economical and effective use of the space. The animations look great, the helicopter being downed, explosions and moving environment are particularly impressive. The gameplay is simple but fun. There were some issues with the reload button not picking up at times. The tank's rocket was the only attack that couldn't be predicted but everything else worked well.
impressed by the graphics and music. gameplay is quite simple but there's a lot of content for a jam game.
Thank you so much for playing it! Yeah I've learned with jam games its best to start with a simple gameplay loop and add from there, instead of biting off a huge chunk and hoping to get it all done in time. Thanks again!
Nice graphics!! I really like the limited palette!
having fun with it, really liked the music
Congratulations on making this game ! I'm really impressed, it's an all 5 stars for me there.
I've played your game during a live that you can watch here :
The live is timestamped so you can go directly to your game.
I hope the feedback and live reactions will be useful. Keep it up !
Thank you so much for streaming it! Its awesome to watch other people play it, especially when it gets played well! Thanks a billion!
Your welcome, definitely one my top 5 for this jam.
I just watched this game on someone’s streaming (I have no Windows to download it and play by myself) and it looked and sounded great! 😀
This game is pretty cool. and the graphics are really nice! I wish there was more time to play with the positioning system.
I played in on stream, the vod is up at http://bit.ly/bean-stream
Thanks for streaming it! And I agree, I ALWAYS wish there was more time. I had a few things I wanted to do still but at least I was able to push out the vast majority of it.
Wow! I really dig the graphical style and the “attitude” of your game! And you even made cutscenes and everything! The pacing of the gameplay is great too! I did think the difficulty jump from level 1 to 2 was perhaps a bit steep. All in all, really well put together. Great submission!
Effortlessly cool :D Great idea, perfect for the jam limitations... and that audio!
Nice game! cool idea with neat gaameplay! can you play mine?
That's a very stylish one! Sounds are incredible too, love it. Good job!
But I wish i have some keyboard shortcut to fire (or i have not found instruction with it)
Thanks so much! Yeah actually you can also use
P - fire
L - shield
R - reload
WASD to move
space bar - missiles
and an alt/left handed controls are
Q - fire
E - shield
R - reload
arrow keys to move player
Love it! The minimalistic artstyle is beautiful
I was attracted by graphics style in the screenshots and I was not disappointed! Great gameplay and true retro feel - you did it all right, congratulations!
I really like it! Very good job! All aspects are superb: graphics, music and sfx and gameplay. With a few elements you made a very good game. Congrats!
Thank you so much for playing it! I'm glad you liked it :D
Cool game! I think I saw you post about it in the gamemaker discord server. That third act came at just the right time to rejuvenate my attention span lol. The ending was really cool, Good job!
Thanks for checking it out! Yeah I had plans for a little more flavor but time took its toll. But it made for an easy fix to give you that kind of power and sendoff for the third act. thanks again for playing!
I love the style, really retro and kind of “Game & Watch”. I love that chopper going down and causing collateral damage :P Music is quite effective and gives a nice solid pace to the action. Nicely done!
Thank you so much! Yeah that was pretty much the vibe I was going for. Like one of those old school handheld games that only have the one game on it haha. Thanks for playing!
Good game, combat felt good and rewarding my only complaint is levels are a bit too long and it gets too repetitive quickly. Adding some random missile pickups could have helped a bit.
Thanks for playing! My earliest mockup had supply crates that would drop every so often. I would've had one for health, missiles, and maybe even a temporary machinegun powerup. But I ran out of time and didn't get around to it 8(
oh that's sad to hear, still pretty good game, I'll come back to finish it tomorrow, need to see the ending everyone liked so much :)
Quite fun and I loved the graphics style. Nice!
Thank you! It was super fun to make too! Up until the last day, anyway haha O_o
dang...
that ending cutscene
appreciated the last third, good way to end the game
animations are great, lazertanks don't have enough of a tell on their blast.
I'm glad you felt the ending like that. I thought it would be a good idea to send it out in a fun way instead of just a third, slightly harder level. And yeah, I hear ya about the tanks. Their attack does become predictable though. They unload their machine gun, then follow with an audible cock and then a cannon blast every time. But don't worry, they wasted me countless times while playtesting that level lol
