Did you work in a team?
Just me! I did programming, design, art, sound.
It was great!
Was the resolution a challenge?
I think this game benefits a lot from the limited resolution, but the greatest challenge is getting text in.
What did you learn?
I tried out a lot of tricks I had used in tweetcarts to create really effects, and took care creating sound effects which I don't have a lot of experience with.

Visuals are amazing, love the tiny trail that follows the ship. The visual atlas is an interesting feature, makes the game feel more lively, also curious about "The Cube".
Very nice game, amazing work.
Circling the sun while also avoiding the gravitational pull was dope! Very fun and charming game!
Lots of nice little touches on this one. It's a short, fun little game loop. Lot of movement and animation makes things feel alive. Making a game that only lasts 30 seconds is a brave move but it's clearly paid off here, I imagine that would help a lot with keeping focused. Great stuff :)
Thanks! Yeah, the short loop definitely kept scope in check, and since there was limited actions I could worry about jucing it up~
I attempted to make my doughnuts jelly filled, but I’m afraid that it all boiled off on impact. The urge to start again is pretty seductive and I gave into it quite a few times. Pretty sick, indeed.
I dig the aesthetics! The quick and simple game loop makes me want to keep getting better at xircling the xun! Well done :)
this rocks!
Great use of various graphics techniques inside PICO8, I'm super jealous. I really like how the solar atlas is integrated with the gameplay, and you lose connection to it. Great use of sounds too!
Interesting game, i like the learning about the solar system you are in.
Good game! I really liked the visual design. Beautiful stuff.
Nice little experience with very decent physics. plays are not that long so it makes it a nice casual experience you can take along to fill in time gaps in your schedule. Gfx and sound work quite well and the animation of the sun and nova are quite cool and effective considering how simple they are. Great job with that.
BTW, thnx for playing Aztec on twitch (and helping me catch a couple bugs seeing the recorded session). Due to Timezone difference I could not be there attending life, but really appreciate the comments.
my score \o/
I only got 1 boost every run though ,':/ was there something else I should have been doing to recharge it? extra points for pico ^^ great game!
Good job! No, the boost recharges every 30 seconds, and the game lasts about 26 seconds. Its a small tongue in cheek way to say you only have one boost.
Interesting game! I kept trying to beat my PB, max I got was 85:
One nice thing about it is that because the sun starts small, you can try right at the beginning to quickly loop as many times you can before it becomes tougher. However, dealing with the gravity is something you slowly learn before you're able to pull it off!
The supernova effect is a nice touch. The sound effects also work really well.
In a way, this game reminded me of that minigame from Crash Bash (PSX), called Crash Dash, in which you have to go round and round as quickly as possible while facing your opponents.
Good job!
Wow, great job! My best is 81, so you are currently the record holder!
Thanks for the kind words~
It was a lot to learn at first, but I liked how you designed the game!
The environment was great, I enjoyed the core gameplay loop, and especially the sound effects! I liked how you scoped the game correctly and delivered a polished product at the end of the game jam. I enjoyed every bit of it!
Well done!
Thanks! I didn't have the weekends available so I needed something scoped small enough that I knew I could do well. That and lots of jam experience certainly helps.
Nice game, you've packed in a lot in a short amount of time and made fun to replay. I take it there's no way to avoid the supernova?
Nope, it's on a set timer!
Neat idea. I liked the tradeoff between getting the speed boost of being close to the sun vs. the risk of running into it. The atlas was a really neat touch as well. I liked how you just dropped a bunch of lore into your arcade-ish game. It gave it a lot more flavor.
Thank you! The atlas was a way to just show orbits, but then I wanted to create some lore and it was a great fit. Well, besides the super tight space contraint, meaning i could only have 3 or 4 words of flavor text. Made it a fun challange!
An very interesting take on the racing genre. I like using the supernova as an end condition for individual sessions. You've actually given me some inspiration for my next game (if I can get it done). Also thanks for featuring my game on your stream the other day!
Thanks! I'm intrigued to see what you come up with :O
Game is nifty. The feeling of the gravity well is really good. It looks and sounds good too. It seems super simple at first but there is a lot going on with the atlas and everything else. Super cool.
Wicked interesting, a completely deterministic score attack game is an intriguing idea, especially when it lasts only 30 seconds. Fun and satisfying, too! The love given to the Solar Atlas, the layout of each planet, the low key but elegant sound design, and the single dash across the entire 30 seconds give the impression that a lot of careful design went into every aspect of the game.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked it~
nice graphics and its harder than it looks!
Love this game. It's a good quick experience. The way the sun is animated to flow around is really neat and I thought you did great with the sound effects.
Thank you! I was second guessing a lot of the sound effects, it's great to hear you like them.
