I like the idea, but for some reason the game lagged pretty bad on my machine, so I wasn’t able to play it for very long. Which is a shame…

Developer

that's too bad. i've done my best to optimize the drawing routines. did you try the downloadable build?

Submitted(+1)

Thankfully doing that appears to have solved the problem. Maybe it’s just a problem with Firefox then?

Anyway, it’s a fantastic little game. I particularly liked the music.

Developer

glad to hear!

Very nice!  This shaped up into a very unique little game from your initial reveal.  The music turned out very nice, too, sort of reminded me of Warsong on the Genesis.

Developer

i'm glad you liked the music, i think i did a good job with it!

Wasn't able to get very far, I may have become softlocked, I couldn't cast a spell or choose other options when attacking the scarecrow. Gameplay-wise it was a bit complicated but it looks like alot of effort has been put in especially on the visuals and game systems.

Developer

that's the second time i've heard of that bug with the tutorial, i have still been unable to replicate it. i hope you enjoyed the game despite that experience.

Very cool gameplay, liked it a lot! Graphics are pleasant and nice.

Good job!

Nice game and a quite good isometric implementation, and that’s not easy feat. Screen can be a bit too crowded, particularly with the huge health circles, but in general it plays quite well. It can be a bit confusing when you have so many overlappig elements when mining tiles or selecting the tile you hit for the attack. Nice sound, fits the game pace well, and nice graphics also very fitting for the lowrez limitations. The gameplay is a bit complex with the harvesting and identifying wich quarter you hit and all, but you can grasp that in a few combat turns though maybe the tutorial could dig a bit more clearly into that. Good game and a great entry!

Developer

thank you for the thoughtful feedback!

Great game, i had to download it because the browser was too small for me to see and the game is a bit full of UI elements. But it was fun and unique, this game jam never stops suprising me .

Wowowow! Loved it! Complex, but very well polished game, so great job.

The graphics were super cute and enjoyable, and the gameplay system was complex and interesting, but had a well written tutorial that made it easy to understand!

My ONLY complaints are related to quality of life (aka nothing you'd expect from a jam :^) )

But, I wish

A) The end turn button had an "are you sure?" prompt as I did hit it on accident, resulting in my untimely death

and

B) That game overs didn't make you have to restart the game, or if it did, that you could skip the tutorial instead of having to redo it every time.

Overall, awesome jam entry :)

Developer

i'll consider A) and B) for the post-jam version.

good game! I realy liked the fact that you allow to have negative AP! this makes the order of execution matter which is very cool! the core idea is very solid and allows for intresting scenarios which you do use which is aweasome.

the gameplay feels a bit clunky tho, both beacuse of the wierd isometric arrow usage and beacuse the UI is slow to operate. the graphics are very good but a bit unclear at times. the sound was good but beacuse of its repetative nature it became quite annoying by the end.

Congratulations on making this game ! Although complicated it's a great gameplay anyway, just need a few tweaks to be able to play much easier (or maybe my brain should grow a little more...).

I've played your game during a live that you can watch here :

The live is timestamped so you can go directly to your game.

I hope the feedback and live reactions will be useful. Keep it up !

Great tactics game! The tile mining and placing to get different magic spells is very interesting! It really made the environments interesting to traverse. I enjoyed the music and pixel art too!

This is really cool, got like megaman battle network vibes. How did you set up the title screen like that too with the letters just slapping themselves on the screen?

Developer

i print scaled copies of each character, and the amount of scaled copies decreases with time.

Really cool tactics game!

It makes good use of positioning and requires you to check the environment to see where you need to go in order to mine the right tiles to take the win. I beat all enemies except for a couple of spiders. Went back to fight them, missclicked on "end" during my turn and got killed haha. That was totally on me though.

The only thing I may add as a feedback is that I found it a little confusing to see the screen at sometimes, especially when there were enemies nearby, because of their circles. Maybe there could be a toggle to turn the health circles on/off (or maybe they could be hidden during freelook mode).

Super fun experience, great job!

Really nice work you have here. Love the concept. Love isometric games too (obviously). Good job! :)

Amazing! Looks great, good music. Good job!

Developer

glad you liked the music, i think i succeeded really well with it.

I’ve never played a game like this so the learning curve was a little steep for me. I would suggest thinking about other ways to show some of the UI elements like the health rings to be able to see more of the tiles. Nice work on the AI!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

This is 5/5 for innovation! and your AI is incredible its so hard to beat ToT Im going to have to come back and try beat it cos ill be hear forever :')
and extra points for snail because :fire: :snail: :fire:

I really enjoy it.

Yay! I broke the tutorial level on the first try. I beat it but tutorial says "What are you doing?". I beat it again after restart  but this time without bugs.

The rest of the game works correctly.

Developer

i haven't been able to replicate that bug, my guess is it's because of frame-perfect input in menus.

Fantastic work and congrats on finishing the jam! :)
