How does your game fit the Magical Girl genre?
Panno has the ability to change the hearts of enemies through music. Enemies will create "barriers" via music notes, that will spawn and descend vertically.

Which theme(s) do you pick?
1, 2 and 4

How does your game fit those theme(s)?
Each villain in the game is related to the theme (Pandora Paradox - A washing machine that is supposed to clean clothes, also cleans good things, like positive emotions || Recollect Lines - The Sheep Girl collects people's dreams || Grievous Lady - Spider Lady is a Grievous Lady.)

If you follow any of the optional challenges, elaborate as you like.
Rhythm Game, Washing Machine

Were the assets for your game made during the jam? Elaborate as you see fit.
Mostly, yes. (98%) The BG for the rhythm game is a placeholder that I have not gotten around to making/ updating.

It is really cute!! The animation and theme are engaging and really pull me into the world.

It was a bit confusing how to use the menu and navigate different parts of the game, but I was able to figure it out after messing with it a bit.

The songs were nice!! I am not sure if they were just not synced with the buttons or if the audio desynced while playing but sometimes the inputs would feel off.

Otherwise really cool :)

I think a bunch of people have already said this, but the character art is amazing! I enjoy rhythm games, but I'm not particularly good at them (with the most recent FNF level, I can't even get through the first song on easy ;-; ) That said, the difficult of your game was perfect for me! It took me a minute to figure out the correct timing, but once I got it was very fun to play!

The chiptune styled music is also really good!

I see 3 songs on the menu, are they all playable? I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I always get the Sheep Girl no matter which I highlight. (I tried Chrome and Firefox just in case, but had the same result. I mainly use Firefox when browsing, but as a fellow Construct user, I've run into a handful of Firefox-exclusive bugs in my own projects)

If I'm doing something wrong, let me know 'cause I'd love to come back and play the other songs! If not, I'll definitely want to check this out as you keep working on it! (There's Continue-it Jam coming up if you want to join, *wink wink*)

One bit of feedback I had based on what I played was that I'd like more "impact" when hitting successful timings! Currently you get some visual feedback, but I think some sort of audio cue would make it more satisfying to score hits! It's possible you had more planned, so if it's on your to-do list, don't mind me!

Anyway, really nice work! Looking forward to seeing more. :D

Heya, glad you like the art and music! :D

And honestly, I had some different ideas when first seeing the themes but seeing the optional themes revolving around music, part of me felt like making a rhythm game. (First time making one and I too am not such a good rhythm game player myself. XP)

Currently, for the jam build I submitted, all 3 songs are not playable. (Though I do have a fix already made in my current code.) In my rush to submit the game on time, I completely forgot to set back the proper songs + levels. ^_^"

And YES, I would be continuing to develop this game. (Currently trying to figure out some cool effects + some additional game mechanics, plus tweaking some of the timing + current code.)

Note: Also, I would love to go back and completely overhaul the "Plague Princess" game I released from MGGJ8, I've improved a bit and I know how to make it much better now! >:D

+ And that is a good idea, I'll add that audio cue to help with player feedback!

I'll keep the Discord channel updated, once I have it in the spot that I would like it to be. ;P

Thanks for playing!

Normally I'm not a rhythm game guy (I stopped playing in my high school orchestra for a reason lol), but I enjoyed this one! The aesthetics and designs of the characters are top-notch. It did take me a while to figure out that I needed to let go of the sustain notes a bit earlier than I expected to, but that might just be due to my inexperience with rhythm games.

Excellent job!

Hey, glad you liked the game!

Honestly, I was obsessed with Guitar Hero 2 and 3 when they came out, so I have a soft spot for them. (Even though I am not that great at them lol) Plus, with the jam's theme being around music, I thought I'd give it a try!

And glad you like the art! My first time making big designs for a game, so it was a bit of a learning experience but I am pretty happy with the results! :D

I am also working on making some different difficulty modes, so it will give players some more options!

Thanks for playing!

Good job finishing this game!

Presentation and music are incredible, I love them! The main menu looks awesome too. Usually I feel sad to see pixel art sprites scaling and stretching, but in this game it is done perfectly to the overall design.

It super hard to code a rhythm game, and you've got many things right. Small lifehack here: you can record an audio of yourself drumming the table at times when you were going to press a key, and then layer it on top of the music to see if your inputs align with the track rhythm.

"Good" circle placement seemed to be a little off, too far away from the place where it would align with the grey circle.

Hope to see more tracks in this game!

Developer(+1)

It took a bit of tweaking a bit of the sine behavior to make the scaling and stretching a bit more "realistic", to kinda make it look like they are breathing. Glad you noticed! :D

That is an interesting way to chart a song! Honestly, charting just 1 of the songs has taken me a long time, so I'll take any ideas to speed up that process! lol

Ah, I see. That circle placement is an easy fix, I'll just move it a few pixels.

I'll add it to my list of things to fix. :P

Once the grading period ends, I'll upload an updated version so that players can play all 3 songs. (Totally messed up the starting point code lol)

Thanks for playing!

Is it just me or the main game starts without a menu page? Anyway, the characters are cute. the music is joyful too.

Developer

Nope, it's not you. It was me lol

Totally forgot to do a final check before submitting and accidentally left the main layout as the default instead of the splash screen . (Literally uploading it 15 mins before the due time! XD)

I already fixed it, just waiting for the rating period to finish before uploading the fixed version!

In the meantime, I'm going back in and updating some logic + adding some more mechanics + art.

Glad you enjoy the character and music! :D

Thanks for playing!

This is cute! The pixel art and music are so good! I had fun playing this one. However, I was a little lost on unlocking the other levels you've mentioned. Regardless, great work on the game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

Yeah, kinda messed up the level select code while frantically making some last minute code additions while putting it all together for submission lol

It is in the process of being fixed, so it should be ready as soon as I have some time to go back in and fix it.

I'll keep you and other players posted on the game submission page via an update. :D

This was really awesome! I loved the track and the pixel art was crazy good!

I'm jealous of your implementation of the note highway, it looks & plays really clean.

Amazing job overall!

The game start at the only playable song, but you can go back to the main menu and appreciate the animation. I hope there would be multiple difficulty for each song when the game finished.

Anyway, I like the direction of this game. Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I was rushing to get this submitted on time. (Submitted it with only 8 mins to go! XD)

So once the ratings/ gradings finish for the jam, I'll make sure to update the game and have it start from the main menu.

And multiple difficulties is on my checklist of things to add for a future update, so stay tuned! (Though I am not looking forward to it, charting was surprisingly time-consuming.)

And thank you very much, art is my favorite thing to work on for a game, so I hope to add more characters + animations for future updates. XP

Thanks for playing!

Had a good time :) Reminded me of my good old times playing Santa Rockstar 4 hahah

Developer

Just looked up what Santa Rockstar 4 is.

And it is awesome!

Definitely playing some of these tunes during the holidays! ^_^

And thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed the game! :D

Also, love the Samurai Champloo profile pic, one of my favorite anime!

I absolutely love this, the visuals,  gameplay and music are so cool.

Developer(+1)

That is great to hear!

I'll see if I can fix the game after the grading period so that everyone can play the other 2 songs. ^_^"

Thanks for playing!

As a fellow rhythm game lover (and maker), I love the music!!

Developer

Thank you very much!

Glad you like the music! :D

Though, I messed up some of the code in my rush to submit. >_<

But I'll make sure to fix that after the jam's grading period and you can play the other 2 songs. ^_^"

And thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

absolutely LOVE the pixel art and character designs! the overall aesthetic is really strong. The UI of both the health bar and level select screen are so fun and cute!
Are the other two levels playable yet? I am having an issue where even after selecting different levels from the menu, it only plays Bo Sleep.

Developer

Hey, glad you like the graphics!

It is my favorite part to work on when developing games. XD

Yes, the other 2 levels were playable, but in my haste to submit the game on time, I kinda messed up the code making some last minute tweaks. ^_^"

After the jam's grading period, I'll go back and fix the issue so that the other 2 levels can be played!

Thanks for playing!

Really great game! The characters are so well-designed and a had a blast! I love playing games made in Construct because they run really well in the browser!

Developer

Glad you like the game!

And thank you, I think I spent maybe a bit too much time working on the character designs. XD

And agreed, been using Construct 3 since it runs the best on browsers/ web! (At least in my opinion.)

Thanks for playing!

My favorite so far! although I miss some game sense when hitting notes, otherwise great game 10/10

Developer

That's awesome to hear! :D

Yeah, I was rushing the game development these past few days. (Charting a song is surprisingly time consuming. >_<")

I'll go back and tweak it some more after the game jam's grading period.

Thanks for playing!
