I really liked how you made the mechanics work here. unfortunately, the battle screen appeared cropped to my screen size, and I couldn't see all the options, but I restarted and saw the story. Still, I liked the songs, and I gave you five stars! ((:

p.s.: can we make a team for the next jam? :>

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the game! :)

I do game jams very irregularly (because of life, uni & stuff) and I'm pretty sure that I won't participate in the next jam, but in a future jam perhaps ^^

Sure! I'll wait your contact :3

really shliked it, i hoped for more random cards but this is already very impressiv, i sure hope that if you get far enough in the game you get a healing card bc i was missing it and the washing machine killed me :(((

big gg

Developer

glad you enjoyed it! :) There are healing cards in the game! You can also pick up cookies or level up to heal ^^

fun concept! on the third screen with the U shape, where you are in one end of the U and a mixer in the other, moving with mouse clicks was suddenly disabled. I managed to move with WASD, I moved into the mixer, and the fight! animation started but the actual fight didn't got stuck. Still fun tho!

Developer

Oh really? I hadn't noticed ^^ glad you enjoyed it!

Not sure if it was just me, but the game was way too big for my screen, it couldnt fit. Maybe allowing the fullscreen button on itch?..

Developer

It was in 1920x1080 HD, but I now changed the resolution to be way smaller and added a fullscreen button, does this work better for you know?

Nice, I love dicey dungeons and you did that very well. Not so sure about those monsters that still impacted my journey, there was very little impact. I would have expected to see them another time or something like that.

Very nice music and wow even a little trailer to tell about the game :o Never saw so many finishing details on a game jam game, I'm very impressed.

The game became a little repetitive though once I had my cards but that may be because I already know Dicey dungeons so well...

I found some bugs:

- the cookie would respawn after the end of each battles

- the timer enemy did not quite use any dice for me? I don't understand, they put dice on the card but the number on it never decreased.

- the game resolution made it hard to play on my screen because it did not fit entirely in it

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your great feedback! I thought about adding an event that would revive a dead enemy, but thought it wouldn't be too creative. Thanks for finding the cookie bug, I wasn't aware! Yeah, the timer is very bugged and I couldn't fix it in time :D And regarding the resolution, I really have no idea how to set up itch to make it work for all resolutions, so I just told it to launch in full screen 1920x1080. Sorry about that :(

Thank you so much :D

Really awesome recreation of Dicey dungeon! I love that game and you captured it very well.

But to be honest, Their is a soft lock it seems that impacted the game heavily imo. The Toaster soft locked on me twice. Usually when it had a 3 I think? but either way, my first 2 attempts ended in a soft lock near the end of the fight, my third run I fought the freezer first then the toaster kill me.

Really cool entry either way! and really cute take on the theme

Developer(+1)

Thank you! :D Yes, I love Dice Dungeons and thought it would fit for this jam ^^

I'm terribly sorry about the softlocks, I underestimated the time it would take to smooth out the AI in the little time I had. But thank you for the feedback :)

Developer(+1)

Hey! I just pushed an update that nerfed the enemies tremendously! Could you perhaps give the game another try and tell me if it is better this way?

I enjoyed the battles, really made you think on how to use your dice. The art style and story telling was great as well, was surprised to see such visual polish haha. I did get two bugs that soured the experience a bit though. One was Bernard freezing when it had a 1 die and could attack (not just charge up the attack). The other was a bug that happened a few times: the die I used would get stuck if I accidentally placed it on the border of the square instead of close to the center.

I found the battling easy to grasp. The fact you added tooltips to the effects was really helpful because I forgot to read the description of the game.  The music was pleasant as well! I'm looking forward to seeing what other games you make in the future :D

Developer

Thank you! :)

It really is a shame how bugged Bernard is :( I really underestimated the effort to smooth out his AI in such a short amount of time. There are so many edge cases :/ The dice bug hasn't happened to me yet, so for future jams I need to have people test the game before I publish them :D Might be that drag and drop doesn't translate well to WebGL, but I have honestly no idea :D Thank you very much for your feedback ^^

Hey! After watching your stream, I just pushed an update that nerfed the enemies and fixed the softlock issue! And like you suggested I added mouse player movement for the overworld ^^ Could you perhaps give the game another try and tell me if it is better this way?

I really like this game. I didn't really understand at first (i had to keep scrolling down to the instructions on the itch page) but I got it after a few minutes of playing. It looks really nice and the game is generally just very impressive (for such a short time frame). I wish there was some more player feedback for the stuff you did, like screenshake or juicy sounds, but other than that this is a really nice entry!

Developer

Yeah that would make the game way better :D I wish I had had the time for that

That's the best and worst thing about game jams.

I see the dicey dungeons vibe here ahah. I love this game and you integrated it soo well. It must've took a lot of time to do all of this! There is an XP system and cards to collect in an inventory. Honestly, this game is awesome. But I have to agree with Duck on this one. For someone who doesn't know how dicey dungeon works. This is confusing as hell.

The sprites look super cool and I have to give you a BIG plus for telling the story in a really interesting way instead of just giving the player a big text box to read. You should feel accomplished right now cause doing this takes a lot of time and efforts!

Tip for other Gamejam: Maybe focus less on progression systems (Inventory, XP, Levels, etc..) and more on the player  experience. I will say it again but I really liked the intro and the way you fight with the dices! But you could've benefit a lot from having less game length and more tutorials and polished progression (The fridge is super hard to beat )

Other then that. congratulations! You submitted an awesome game that is really fun to play! You can finally go to sleep ;)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! :D

Yes, Dicey Dungeons was a huge inspiration haha :D I definitely agree with you two that the game is very confusing if you aren't familiar with Dicey Dungeons for example. I wish I had had enough time to add a tutorial (so I just added some text to the game's description :/).

Developer

Hey! I just pushed an update that, like you suggested, nerfes the enemies tremendously and also added a tutorial that explains the game! Could you perhaps give the game another try and tell me if it is better this way?

Submitted(+2)

The battle system is hard to understand because it lacks some feedback but the art is really cute :3

Developer(+1)

Yeah I didn't have time to add a tutorial, so I added explanations in the description :D

Developer(+1)

Hey! Due to your and the other people's feedback, I just pushed an update that fixed some bugs and added a tutorial! Could you perhaps give the game another try and tell me if it is better this way?

Oh yeah i like that much more!

Developer

Great! :D
