Very very fun! The sound and screen shake add so much to it. Well done!
The controls feels really smooth, I don't get when someone would use smite instead of a permanent upgrade, but maybe there is a stradegy I missed. Overall a great game!
Consider using scancodes (keys-by-position) instead of keycodes (keys-by-name) so that your game doesn’t rely on people having qwerty keyboards [I don’t have qwerty]. Thankfully most Unity games support gamepad by default, so I was able to move with my controller, while holding my little finger on the E key, and maneuvering my trackpad with the other hand. Not a comfortable control experience, but it worked! Didn’t get to experience the SMITE, but I did get to experience the crash in the boss room!
Shoot i didn't think about that. Thanks for reminding me that's an issue though!
Super cool game!
The death screen is really cool! I like how the enemies are dormant until you fight them, and that the next wave is telegraphed, super neat mechanic. The camera zooming out is also really nice. It allows the player to be aware during the important combat sections and the exploration part of the game becomes more immersive.
One thing is when the normal shot shakes the screen; it makes the screen hard to look at and especially with the low contrast red background. The enemy projectiles are also super hard to see since they're red, with the red BG + camera shakes. And with the high fire rate setting making the screen shake even more.
Some ideas you can use to take this game even further would maybe make the player's appearance change on your upgrade path?
Haha looks like all of use crashed during the boss :P Fun game regardless
As a gal who loves spamming the soldier's syringe in Risk of Rain 2 this game was perfect for me
Though I'll be real I never felt the need to SMITE instead of upgrading, maybe if the SMITE only used half the bar I would use it a bit more
Overall great submission!
The feel and polish with this was absolutely amazing. You felt like you were actually doing something powerful when smiting!
I crashed at the boss, but everything else was so polished I didn’t even care. This was a really great entry!
the boss crash was a pretty big issue that I only found out about after the jam ended unfortunately, but thanks for the feedback!
I had a bug, I pumped too much, too many bullets flew out of me and the game crashed, just on the boss.
I shooted too much and the game crashed XD. But it was really fun to play! Congrats on the submission.
Game is very cool. I was enjoying every second in the game. From the cons i would say the sound is kind of irritating and game crashed but it can be my fault. Anyway I love this game.
It was really enjoyable.
The Upgrade system is very cool, and is satisfying to fill the upgrade bar.
Felt the need for check points tho, as the game froze when i was about to defeat the boss.
I got that boss error too, but I only found it after the jam ended so I couldn’t fix it unfortunately. Thank you for the feedback!
Others already said it, the game feels good! The game over screen feels super satisfying to me!
This game feels so good! The sounds, and movements are so satisfying!
Love the extra effort in the juice for shooting and moving. the little screenshakes add a lot
I liked the idea that I can get rid of one of my SMITEs in favor of upgrading them. I also liked the attention to detail in places where it could really shine through, like the player's wings moving slightly in response to their movement direction, and the camera control effects used throughout the game.
Absolutely loved it! It was a real blast through and through, I especially loved how chaotic it got towards the end
