Use of the limitation
In this roguelike, the floor that you stand on is made from the faces of two dice. The pips form enemy spawn points and if you roll snake eyes, you must defeat the twin heel-biters.

How was your experience with Mini Jam?
Excruciating, but only in the usual game jam way. I really appreciate all that you folks do.

I loved it. I love roguelikes in general so I am definitely biased. And I would say my favorite part was definitely the art it looks really good and I love the designs of the enemies.

Thanks for playing!

Your art style is very very cool! Animations too!

Thank you very much!

Great art and a cool twist with the idea of "snake eyes" being a *dreadful* occurrence. Just kinda fun running around swatting bat creatures, making sure you watch your attack distance.

Thanks for playing, OT!

really loved it, looks polished and feels really good to play. i see a lot of potential what you could do with differently rolled dice. enjoyed it a lot!

Thanks Gernknod!

Love the art! Fun little roguelike.

Thank you!

I have no real comment since it's very similar to what I did, but this is more polished than I could afford to make mine lol.

Thanks for playing xpost!

Had alot of fun with the game. A really good concept to use the dice as the playing field. It also felt real satisfying to slash up the enemies, and the snake boss battle was incredibly interesting.

My main issues fall with that you can just spam the attack key. Being able to hold the key down would be nice or adding a cooldown to each attack. Since the constant swinging meant I didn't have to hide / evade enemies at all...

I really love the cute art style tho, especially the snakes and player character! It all looks great, the setting especially catches the eye. The music was also quite catchy and added alot to the running around and slashing.

Thanks for the feedback, Fox! My theory: people like slashing, give them more of that! But yes, totally agree. The combat needs some refinement.

It was a fun game and I must admit I wondered where the dice were and then click lol. Smooth gameplay with multiple abilities and and variety of enemies and hazards. I wont say i knew what everything that killed me was but a good little experience.

Thanks, Rico!

Neat use of the limitation with some excellent graphics and sound! Game overall played well, though I might have preferred the attack reach to be juuuuust a few pixels further out. Could see it really being crazy if each dice roll combination spawned different enemies or bosses, but that's of course way too much for a game jam. Nice job!

Thanks for playing, sumguy!

This is such an inventive way to use the limitation, and feels absolutely great to play with precise and well judged controls - I love a game that lets me move quickly but always feels perfectly in control. Your sprites are superb too, and the particle effect on player/enemy death was particularly delightful.

Developer(+1)

That means a lot coming from you, Not Jam! Thanks for playing.

Gorgeous. This is one of the best looking games here. It moves nice, sounds nice, and looks great.

I did manage to bug it out. I died by lava just as I killed the last enemy, so this happened:

I was alive but with that prompt. I could play, until I spawned this level where I was inside a rock. Not sure if that has anything to do with the bug or not, just letting you know.

I mean, this can happen in a jam, I'm not knocking off any points in my rating for that. I want to point it out in case you reuse some of this code down the line.

Developer

Thanks for the detailed feedback and bug report! Yep. I'm aware you can get caught in the rock. Just something that needs to be patched out. For anyone reading this who has the same problem, you can actually restart at any point if you get caught by pressing 'R'. Thanks again!

Great game, the visuals are great although I couldn't enjoy It that much because my feet got stuck on the level geometry when I was at a really advanced point. Great work tho!

Developer

Thanks for playing Martux! Sorry about the bug!

I really enjoyed this game! It was pretty fun all around, and the art and music were great! This was also such a cool use of the limitation, since you not only use dice to help determine level generation, but you also use the pips on the dice themselves, which is super clever. Well done!

Thanks for playing Cosmo!

The way on how you used the limitation is really unique. Most of the games in the jam used the dice as a way to move or add some power but you used it to generate stages and spawners. Good job thinking outside the box! Great game.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing!

Really cool idea to have the dice aspect as the map and spawner locations. The entire game looks really polished and your sprites look amazing.
Would be cool to see different boss like monsters on other doubles like you did with the snake eyes however I know that's something you probably didn't have the time for within the jam. Entire game idea though feels really nice and would defiantly like to see it continued beyond the Jam, since what's there feels like an amazing prototype.

Developer

Thank you, sincerely. Yep, this game would need a lot more stuff to make it actually work.

I love the music and randomly generated maps as well as the graphics. great work!

Developer

Thanks Jason!

I loved the way that you used the limitation, its clever to have a random generated map that even decides the enemies you have to defeat, its really hard, and this makes it so fun to play! would be cool if you have a way to get hearts, like loot from the twins.

Developer(+1)

Thanks Mike! I definitely agree -- I mean, how can you have a roguelike with no loot??
