I absolutely love the idea of this. To the point where I'd buy a game like this. However I'm not a big fan of the music, and the AI isn't that intelligent (wish I could have more drawn out games of this). Overall an amazing job, can't really expect top tier AI in a game jam.

Developer

Thanks for feedback. Its very helpfull :)

Chess Club!

Fun idea and fun execution. Some more feedback would be nice, but attacking animation and sound feels powerful and it's nice :)

With some polish and online lobby I think you could have a nice game after the jam.

Hey I win one game without winning a single chess game my entire life.

I glad i was first ;D

Awesome game with a unique twist on auto chess and lots of polish! I had a lot of fun beating up the AI.

A tutorial would've been really nice for this game, as even after reading the game description I did not understand why a rook could attack multiple times and beeline straight towards my king. I only figured out because I saw a horse doing the same thing and it clicked, but I was under the impression that rooks and queens had a trample ability before that.

Also, I am still unclear on what conditions allow you to damage the king. There were multiple times where my queens / rooks had a straight shot to the other side of the board but they didn't damage the king. I feel like you should make it clear which tiles damage the king by adding tiles under the king.

Another thing, it was a bit unclear on which order the attacks happen in, maybe adding a little turn order indicator somewhere would help.

Overall I really enjoyed this game, good job

Developer

Hi!

>here were multiple times where my queens / rooks had a straight shot to the other side of the board

Oh, its a bug :D

I will try to find and fix it, thanks!

Submitted

just to be clear, the king gets damaged by any piece that makes it to the other side of the board right? I was a bit unclear on that

Developer

in the first opposite line (i hope its clear, i dont know how to say it more intelligibly sorry :D)

Submitted

so like does the piece have to hit the king piece itself? or as long as it makes it to the other end of the board it can damage them?

Developer

yea, if it on the other end it automatically damage the king

Very cool game I love the concept!

The AI was a bit easy but I really liked the combo mechanic, it spiced up the gameplay a lot. Great game overall!

Really awesome game, super creative! I really like it!
The "multi-kills" that pieces can get break the fundamental gameplay of "normal" chess, where you try to reinforce your pieces. Like, my first game I tried to make some good pawn structures, and then my pawns all got freakin' dominated. That's not inherently a bad thing, it definitely changes the game, but it makes it very swingy. And the randomness of how the stronger pieces move can be really frustrating and inhibit strategy. I had one turn where my rook just moved himself directly into the path of the enemy bishop and that's a HUGE swing that I had no control over.

All in all though, this game was super fun to play! Amazing work!

Super neat and creative game! It's just like TFT! I could see this becoming a thing.  I did have trouble understanding the UI at first though. Maybe some text could help. An interesting niche, but I don't know how competitive/balanced a game like this can become.

Developer

I dont know too. :D

So mb sometimes we will see it......... :))

Thanks for playing!

Why isn't there more auto-chess in general O_O

This take on the genre was very creative!

umm game was a bit short for my liking.
Like i wished it lasted longer.

Great work making this^^

Wow, I like this! I was a little bit frustrated occasionally, but overall it was great! The only thing I wished for while I was playing was an undo button--on the piece I just put down, not like, going back turns.  But it was extremely creative, kind of adorable, pretty strategic, and fun to play! Good job!

Developer(+1)

Its cool idea to add undo button! Thanks! :)

Wow this is really funny. and also very well executed. Well done!

Finally a real auto-chess! The mechanic is so well thought and it's very engaging. Congrats!

I laughed out loud when the knight turned into just a horse. great work! I found the juice in this game to be particularly satisfying.

this is the most chess-like auto chess I've ever played!

Developer

I am happy to hear it c:

I quite like the idea itself, and the execution is fine for the most part. What I really dislike is that the randomness is way too much for my taste.

I do understand the rules about will attack when possible and combos. But this still leaves way too many rooms for questions. If there's two target that's attackable, which target will the piece goes for? If during the combo, there's two targets, which way will the combos goes? How does pieces with no targets behave? What are the odds that a piece will move in a turn? All these questions etc etc. All of these are very important when you need to formulae a strategy to play a turn properly, even if its random, at least the player needs to know how random it is.

I understand your implementations probably means that not all of it is random, just not explicitly stated, but like I said, the player need these information to formulae a good strat, so it seems weird to not list them out.

Beside that, I have some minor complains about the UI and the game probably need more juicing to help with the aesthetic, but these are just minor details compared to what I said.

Hi!

Incredible long feedback, you are awesome :D

>I understand your implementations probably means that not all of it is random..

No, its all random. Its auto chess :D

I really glad you playing it dude!

Really fun game, I personally found it quite difficult but that was fine, I struggled to predict where the knight would go but still had a lot of fun, really enjoyable well done. :)

Developer

Thanks!

Great game! I love how you used characters intead of the chess piece.

I tried several strategies and won with all of them I would love to see how a smarter AI would do.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks :))

I realy glad you like it!

Dope! Pretty amazing overall.
The one issue I had was initially thinking the non movable space was the movable space. So for the first turn or two I thought I couldn't move. I'm not sure how I would make that clearer though.

Developer

Thanks for feedback dude, its very helpfull!

Hey! great looking game! I really wanted to play it but I couldn't place any piece on the board. I'm on a MacBook Pro 2012 with a track pad running High Sierra.

Developer

So sad :C

Anyway thanks for your desire :DD

I enjoyed playing this; although it's easy to win against the AIs random moves. I like the use of both chess pieces and the character sprites.

Great job.

Developer

Oh thanks! :))
