Description
The soundtrack itself is reminiscent of the NES days with upbeat tunes and that familiar chiptune sound. I used a browser based program called BeepBox. The premise is that you're on a twisted game show called "Defuse That Bomb!" and your job is to defuse bombs before time runs out.
Track 1 is supposed to be catchy and upbeat considering this is a game show. The tick tock within the music correlates with the theme.
Track 2 is the options screen which is derived from the main theme.
Track 3 is the gameplay section where you're supposed to be in concentration so music is very minimal. BPM matches the seconds of a clock. The tick tock is the main component of this track.
Track 4 is when you have less than a minute to go. Music gets more frantic until...boom!

Message from the artist:
Thanks for allowing me to join my first jam EVER! And thank you for listening to my music!

Theme:

Tick Tock...

How does it fit the theme?
The name theme drew me more than the picture theme. My first thought was time bomb, so I came with the concept of a puzzle game where you have to follow very specific instructions to defuse a time bomb. The "tick tock" will be the focal point of the game and OST.

I think there's definitely a place within the VGM space for simply orchestrated tracks written to clear purpose, which you've accomplished here. The opening and closing themes here strike me as delivering very specific callbacks, as the closing track feeds me "sonic drowning", and I can't listen to the opening track without thinking katamari damacy :) I'd love to see you take these foundations and either tweak them to head in a slightly different tonal direction to the original, or build on the source and deliver an expanded version. Cheers!

Simple but really neat themes! Would make sweet part of 2D game! :D

Very nice, simple and catchy! I heard a bit of Beck in there as well. cool stuff, well done!

Woah, despite how simple the tracks are, they're really memorable. As if simplicity is what makes them good. Fits extremely well with the theme while still feeling seamlessly like actual music. It's like retro Kahoot with an emphasis on the time limit.

This soundtrack is on point, it does exactly what it's expected to do, so it's very effective for the game. However, I might spend most of my time in the option screen, because I really like that track :)

really solid! you did an amazing job keeping everything interesting, but not going overboard, and you create tracks that lined up very well with the theme!

nice job :)))

You know how to make effective music!

The melody of "option screen" is simple in a good way. It gets straight into your head.

You could even afford more variations and flourishes (chromaticism or ghost notes).

I like the menu theme and options theme a lot! I think the bomb themes could have used some more action, especially the main part of the gameplay. I also think the options theme and the main menu theme could be switched around. I really like the main menu theme, it was super catchy! Great work!

Catchy and unique! It correlates very well with the theme.

I see you used BeepBox. I've been using BeepBox for a long time. It's easy to use and good for 8-bit. The "Option Screen Theme" is a good example of a catchy 8-bit tune.

Very much chiptune all the way. I do (and listen to way too much) SID music from the C64, and composition wise this would have been perfect back in the days (although the NES and C64 have quite different sound). Title screen and Options Screen are a bit ahead of the rest IMHO, but the Time's up got those lovely arpeggios, literally music to my ears - good job!

First track kind of makes me think of Bomberman music which is fitting. The last track is my favorite. I really like that tremolo synth, as well as the explosion ending (game over lol).
