Description
The music was inspired by both the illustration and words "Inside my world" (the link for more information : https://itch.io/jam/ost-composing-jam-7). Here's the story :

The game follows a character that looses their way in the very beginning. As they look around them, they see a beautiful landscape in the sunset and they meet a spirit. They choose to follow them. This is represented by the main illustration by Ombremonde, here is their work :

https://ombremonde.itch.io/pack-landscape-illustrations

During the game, you'll get to meet different spirit characters and get attached to the spirit that helped you. I imagine the game as a 3D, story-focused game, with light platforming and puzzle mechanics involving interactions with the spirit.

The track I've submitted takes place in the last third of the game, during a "festival" in which inner worlds, spirit worlds and human worlds merge for a brief moment (represented by the second screenshot, theme of the OST jam. The artist is https://www.instagram.com/kawaakar._/).

I imagine the track during a cutscene in which the character you control finally can see the "world" of the spirit character. The character you control explore the inner world with awe but begin to realise that they're just an observer, that they'll never get to fully be "inside" this spirit's world and that their real (human) world is waiting for them.

OST Composing Jam Description :

I used Magix Music Maker as the software during the 13th of July (composition) and 14th of July (mixing). I used Vsti but no samples were used. This is an orchestral track that was inspired by both themes. I didn't have musical reference, but for the last part of the music I've submitted I hear a little bit of "Avatar the Last Airbender" influence I guess :D

The third screenshot (on the page) shows my software and the midi tracks I recorded with a midi keyboard.

I give permission for the track to be used in the compilation of the jam.

Message from the artist
Thank you for listening! I'm Satya, I'm no professional composer but I enjoy making and sharing my music.
I loved making this track, apart from three sofware crashes (and saves loss...). I hope you like it, and feel free to comment what you see when you hear the track! :)

This creates a really nice atmosphere that i just felt entranced by. I loved the different instruments you used and how the scale of the piece steadily expanded throughout the track.

Nice track, very ambient very modal, I like the use of swell strings. Your pizz is imo a bit too roomy and far away in the mix, I don't know if you can change the mic preset to Close and play with reverb yourself I think it will help. The one thing missing in your track is low-end. You have a good composition staying in the mid and highs but I was expect at some point a double bass pizz to increase the dynamics or something to add to the low end. A part from that its great, easy listen. Good job !

This is an excellent track. I looped it while I was at work. Haha.  I'd like to hear more songs in the future 😄

Nice sounding track! Interesting choice of instruments. Legato strings is dit too sudden and straight. a bit of automatisation can help with that. Overall beautiful atmosphere :)

Gorgeous orchestration! Super mellow to start out but it really starts to take shape around the 1/3 mark in. Great choice of string articulation here and leaving some room for the bell-like melodies to breathe in-between the swells. The gradual introduction of kicks about 2/3rds in to establish a rhythm and then having the other elements play around that is done well, and the building crescendo into the ending was really nice.

Enjoyed listening to this, I think as a whole it is arranged well and really fits with the write-up; I can just envision hearing this in the background of a cutscene revealing the spirit world. Great work. :)

Nice submission dude I love it!

Hi! Thanks for the comment :)

Very nice orchestration :D
Honestly I feel like if I added Emi Evans voice on top, this would sound much like a NieR song.

Developer

Hi and thank you for your kind words!! This is a great compliment!!

I absolutely loved your submission and really liked the voice you used on your first track, I'll look into it to try it !

Really nice journey, nothing really I can say, maybe the mixing could use some work (I've got worse problems in the mixing area than you do so take it with a grain of salt) but otherwise solid entry!

Developer(+1)

Hi there ! Thank you for the feedback! Yes after the jam I'll go back to the track and try to improve the mixing a bit especially towards the end I think!

Submitted(+1)

Yeah definitely would make the whole OST shine with the polish it definitely deserves!!

You've combined so many simple ideas to create something that evokes such a strong sense of wonder, I love the use of shots from different instruments and percussion, i think it adds even more to my emotional reaction from this which was full of adventure, wondering what else is happening around in this festival that connects these two worlds. I think you did an excellent job! Also incredible cover art, its what got me excited to start listening to this!

Developer(+1)

Hi! Thank you for your feedback, during the middle of the track I imagined the instruments as spirits appearing here and there, kind of whispering or trying to get the attention of the protagonist. Thanks for the kind words, and love the cover art too, here's the page to the artist :)

A very nice and laid back track. Good work!

I really liked the simple and intimate opening to set the tone! It helps create an expanding sort of feeling when the strings come in which does follow your description of when this track plays. (❁´◡`❁)

Developer

Hi and thank you for the feedback! I'm glad the evolution within the track is coherent with what I described :D

Submitted(+1)

It's beautiful! The opening is incredibly well done, and really drew me into the 'world'. I also greatly enjoyed the gradual but steady build up of the music, it truly created a sense of a world slowly being revealed to the viewer, and was magical to listen to. Great job!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! Yes I tried to make a slow but steady change within the music so I'm glad it worked! :D

Love your instrument choices here!  The melody plays really well between the wind instrument and the pizzicato strings.  The chord arrangement for the strings after 1:55 is really nice, fits really well with the theme.  A lil feedback would be to play with the string chord voicing's a bit more, esp around 2:25, the held string would sound better with a bit more dynamic control.  Overall, nice composition!

Developer

Hi there, thank you for your specific feedbacks on string, I think you're definetly write. I believe I need to work on both composing with strings and learning to use the Vsti. Glad to hear you liked the instruments choices though and thank you for the kind words!

I love the orchestration! It is really well done. Great songs. It is a great submission. It really fit the theme for me and my that art work is just stunning!

Developer(+1)

Hi and thank you for your feedback :) Glad that you liked the orchestration, I really want to improve on it !

Submitted(+1)

Nice orchestration around harph core mixed with percussion, good job.

Developer

Hi! Thank you for the kind words :D

Those arpeggios are insane. This must have taken you forever to write all of those lines! Really cool!

Developer(+1)

Hi! Thanks! Yes, it did took time, on top of it my software crashed... but I recorded everything with a midi keyboard so it was easier (in a way) ^^

Submitted(+1)

First, very nice story! And very well executed. You can imagine going deeper and deeper into some unknown world. Especially liked those high bells (reminds me of a kagura suzu but i'm unsure what it is?) and the intensity of the strings melody at the end. Chilling. Great job, I love it!

Developer(+1)

Hi, and thank you for the kind words! I'm not sure either what the high bells was exactly because I kinda distorted a bit, but thanks for your feedback on the story. I wanted to deep much more on it with more tracks and the leitmotiv that I've created on this track but sadly I didn't have more time for this jam!

Submitted(+1)

Very nice! I love the percussion in the beginning. Is that a hand pan instrument or something? It’s really cool. All the syncopated melodies that go with it are nice too. Definitely feels very watery and emotional. I definitely think the music matches the story you’re going for.

Developer

Hi and thank you for your feedback and kind words. Are you asking about what kind of percussion is it ? And glad to hear the music fits the story I imagined :)

Submitted(+1)

Thank you for explaining your game and story. It makes me much more involved in the music when I can read the artists intent. I really liked the festival percussion it was very atmospheric.
