Description
Dear All,

Please find below the description of the possible game as well as some notes on the soundtrack.

Genre of the soundtrack is orchestration.

It has been composed for a third-person adventure kind of game (gameplay could be similar to 'Spirit of the North' for example).

Track 'Welcome to my world' is intended to be used for the menu screen, while 'Inside my world of adventures' is intended for the gameplay itself.

I used the following soundtracks as inspiration: Zanzarah: The Hidden portal, Spirit of the North, Naruto (TV series), Ori and the Blind Forest (a bit), Hollow Knight (a bit).

I used Cubase to compose the tracks and chose both the picture and the text themes.

The composing process was as follows. I studied the picture first to get an idea of what kind of game there could be and what story it could tell and came up with this plot: a little Japanese girl wakes up one day to learn that her mother is lost, and now the girl is out for adventures in a magical world to find her. While traveling, she meets different creatures - some looking like funny little fellows from Miyazaki movies, others are from Japanese mythology. Some creatures are harmless and help the girl on her journey, while others are evil and do not allow her to pass through without answering their riddles or doing some quests for them (like ‘go there, collect and bring something’). Each riddle and quest bring the girl closer to finding her mother. As a possible ending of the game: at the end of her journey the girl wakes up to discover her mother beside her and understands that she was asleep all the time and was traveling in the world her imagination created.

The picture gives away the Asia vibe so I used a few Chinese and Japanese instruments to convey it. In the 1st track that could be used for the menu screen I wanted music to give a hint about the game being an adventurous journey, so I made it calm in the beginning with some magic glimpses like mark tree and music box and then wanted it to go epic a bit. The 2nd track is intended for the gameplay. The main character is a little girl so I do not see any fights in the game, she is just exploring the world and completing quests, so I wanted this track to be more ambient-like. I used the Shakuhachi and Sanxian instruments as a starting point and composed everything else around them.

Many thanks for listening to my tracks and reading these notes!
With kind regards,
Mar_Ko

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I see a happy little girl with a wide smile on the picture which initially gives impression that the music should sound happy. But at a second glance, a woman-shaped bubble towards which the girl is happily reaching out gives me some feeling of restlessness and a bit of anxiety. That’s how the plot with the lost mother came up. Thus, keeping in mind the girl is really little and she is missing her mother and may be sad about it while on her journey, I was intending to give the music some kind of nostalgic and maybe a bit sad fleur but not going deep into drama and still keep it bright and cheerful. Hope it worked :)

Wonderful Mar Ko!

Your soundtrack conveys a lot of calm.

Without a doubt, you chose an unusual combination of instruments, and that is why you achieved a very special color in your music.

You also captured very well the spirit of the music that you took as inspiration.

AMAZING!!

Sweet album, orchestration is great. First track is the best, the dynamics works well, nice pacing. Second track, Inside my worlds of adventures, it sounds great but there is no motion or dynamics, its the same for thing for 3 mins, it needs to move somewhere using either som percussive elements, a new motif, change chord progressions, tempo change, anything to get out of the loop. A part from that, Good job !

Very nice submission !
I really loved the choice of instrumentation on it, especially the Shakuhachi (its sound and its playing on the two tracks was very pleasant, it adds a lot to the vibe of your tracks), the two tracks sounded really nice and the arrangements were also very solid.
Overall great job, I enjoyed it a lot !

Fantastic use of folk instruments and wonderfully faithful arrangements in the process. Welcome to My World is great - when the track really starts to open up shy of the half-way mark when the full orchestration kicks in, it's really gorgeous. I think this is a fantastic example of underscore at play; the piece is busy in its own right, but never too busy to distract and draw attention away from a game.

Inside My World of Adventures continues along the same vein; really nice orchestration, great choice of voicings and instrumentation and solid arrangement. The soft lead melodies on winds here is really neat - so easy to get lost in it and float along as it progresses. Accompaniment in the background is nice and diverse and functions as a great sound-bed. The slow decrescendo into sustained instrumentation toward the end is a really nice touch, also.

Fantastic work with these - genuinely gorgeous tracks with a lot of neat ideas, all produced well. I'd love to hear more of this, and I can easily imagine it in a variety of games. Great work!

The percussion in the second track was a lot of fun! I liked the really fast bits with what sounded to be a woodblock of some kind.

Thank you! :)

Welcome to my world - heh... From the very first second, your soundtrack is mesmerizing! Great orchestrations and...

Inside my world of adventures are also great orchestrations! The very sound seems to be calling me to conquer new lands! Go ahead! To adventure!

You are very good at working with orchestral instruments and effects.

Amazing composition, I really like that touch of the percussion in the intro of the first song. The second one was beautiful too. One of the best soundtracks I heard so far, good job!

One of the most unique compositions I’ve heard yet. Absolutely love the sound and would be interested to know what you use. Innocent and sad at times. Beautiful melodies. Really awesome job!

I think your orchestration is beautiful! I must ask what soundbanks you used for the instruments, they sound so lovely. I also loved how bright your music was, it really created a sweet, hopeful and emotive atmosphere.

Nice compositions! They are varied enough to hold interest, and have a great theme correlation.

What a cool orchestration, was surprised :)

Huge lack of dynamic to get a better impact at some transitions for the first track.

Second track is cute and a bit sad so it works well ^^ Its moving by changing a bit the orchestration.

Did lack of variations a bit. You could use that descending motiv at 2 16 more i think :)

The end repetitions were a bit strange.

Overall good job and thank you for publishing it ^^
