The art was really nice, especially the UI. I really liked the design for the slimes, they looked incredible. The mini-map was especially helpful for finding slimes. I think perhaps making it easier to hit slimes would've been more fun, and perhaps having the goblins run around in panic too! I think showing sadness spread in a visual way could've been interesting, such as making the world turn dark or monotone. Well done with this one!

Cute artstyle and the gameplay is simple yet fun! :D

It could benefit from more upgrade variety, though, I was constantly picking damage or aura effect once I was fast enough.

This is sooooo cute

I really loved the graphics in this game, the environment is beautiful! And the music is such a nice touch to it. The game works fine, but I felt that the upgrades couldn't deal with the new amounts of slime for every wave. And as someone already said, it was frustrating that you can't help a permanent sad goblin.

Other than that, this feels good to play, I had a lot of fun, keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Appreciate the feedback. Always good to know of commonly proposed changes/improvements people would like to see for the game :)

Really cute! I think you're already fully aware, but just for sake of it, I think my primary feedback is pretty much just the sun-laser hitbox feels a bit too picky, and the slimes can sometimes spawn inside of goblins. But this was really cute and even with those issues, fun to play

Developer(+2)

Appreciate the feedback :)

Yes, changing the sun beam laser so it will damage anthing in its path, not only what the cursor is on is definitely something that would make the game better, and fixing the spawning was one of the things that we weren't able to fix in time unfotunately :(
If we continue development, fixing those would take priority for sure.

Love it. Seems polished, easy to get into, potentially really challenging to progress!

I thought the moment and control scheme was smooth, and the sound was cute and theme-appropriate.

I'm going to say something potentially controversial: I wonder if it's a good idea to make the depressed goblins permanently that way? I found myself frustrated that I couldn't "heal" them once their happiness meter had gone all the way to zero. While that's realistic in a way (can't help everybody) it did make me think that perhaps someone might seem themselves in that, and think "I can't be helped either".

What if the mechanic was that your aura couldn't restore their happiness meter, but once "downed" a goblin must be revived with the light ray? Or a "happiness defibrillator" or some such powerup? It would still be really difficult, but it might remove an aspect of hopelessness that could cloud an otherwise upbeat game.

Anyway, just thoughts with the intent of making an already great submission even better. Best of luck with it!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for the feedback :D

No worries, it's not controversial at all, and it's a good talking point. It did cross our minds while making the game how locking the goblins sad state after their meters have fully filled might be perceived, however for the sake of gameplay, strategic player choice, and round progression reasons, we kept it in. Given more time to work on the gameplay systems I think implementing something to show a positive outcome for all the sad goblins of the round is a great idea! :)

Submitted(+2)

Nice one! I shall keep a lookout for happiness defibrillators everywhere :D

Beautiful looking game. Very cute art style and polished! Some suggestions for the UI would be that the upgrades were a bit small on the screen compared to all the text. It also seemed like the end of the beam had to be directly on top of the water droplet rather than if they were within the beams line of sight, those two changes alone I think would improve the game massively. Fantastic job!

Developer(+1)

I agree that the beam should be able to damage any slime intersecting it, for sure. Really appreciate the feedback. :D

What a well put together game! I'm jealous of your art skills. Looks and sounds great and very playable!

I got through level 11. I found myself wanting to be able to upgrade the AoE of the sunbeam, in later levels it got a little tedious having to hit them exactly. Particularly because I was finding more and more that I was not able to be hit from any direction.

Once the levels progressed, I found that I had to stick to just the immediate goblins around me until I was able to get those slimes cleared. By that time, all the other goblins were sad. Maybe having the slimes come in waves would allow the player to juggle keeping more goblins happy.

Overall, great job!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for the feedback. This is just a prototype of a game there is still a lot to improve. If we keep developing we are sure to think about higher level playability.

Developer(+1)

Having the slimes come in waves for the later rounds is a great idea. It definitely needs balancing and your solution would be perfect.

Thanks again for the feedback! :D

Very fun, and I'm a big fan of the theme! Had the same issues as Alkyer with Slimes spawning in Golbins once or twice but the concept is very solid and the art/music/design is amazing for such a short project - congrats!

Developer(+2)

Thanks :D

Yes, the spawning aspect is definitely the main thing I would've liked to have improved - to make sure things don't spawn on top on each other. This was my first time doing AI navigation so priority was getting them to just spawn in valid locations xD. It was challenging, but a great learning experience! :D

Like the idea. Cute gfx, cute music......Nice work,

This was a cute dose of positivity! I enjoyed it, tho I felt sad when I was busy helping some goblins and couldn't save others.

Developer(+1)

That's exactly what were aiming for (not you being sad). But for you to strategies which goblins to save and not to save. As you can't save everyone once you get more into the game.

I should be eating right now for lunch, BUT I CAN'T PUT THIS GAME DOWN. Love the music and the game loop is great!

Developer

We're glad you enjoyed the game so much.

Very cute. Got to round 7, tried to stick around some that were sad but it did not charge on some of them.

Developer

If slimes are around "attacking" the goblin their happiness will not increase. The same can be said when they are already fully sad.

Cute art and a nice gameplay loop! I made it to round 9. I liked how it was balanced, it felt nice. I had some issues with characters stacking on each other making it hard or straight impossible to target them with the beam. It also took me a little bit to get that the beam does not actually hurt the first slime in its path, only where you click count.

But overall its a pretty neat game!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for the feedback :D
A lot of trouble was had trying to stop the objects spawning near each other! Unfortunately didn't have enough time to figure that one out :(
We could definitely make it more clear that damage comes from the cursor position of the beam :)

Submitted(+3)

Very satisfying gameplay loop. I think you've nailed having a balanced set of upgrade options. It's a tough choice! Honestly just left wishing for a pause button and the music to be a little louder.

Developer(+2)

Thank you :D
A pause menu, with a more tuned volume settings for background music and sound effects is definitely something we would have like to have added :)
