Dang! Is this Sea of Thieves 2.0? Cause I love that game and this about puts it to shame. Haha. Well done! This was more of a challenge for me, but fun, I like it.
The assets for this are quite detailed, so it's nice to look at. The buoyancy makes for good immersion. However, I think the animation could've been a bit better. There was a lot of foot sliding when the character was running around and sometimes the camera shakes were excessive, which impacted the immersion negatively.
From a fishing mechanics point of view this was pretty interesting, making it a bit more challenging than many of the other submissions.
One thing that strikes me as odd with this submission is that it's a 3.4 GiB download, which seems a bit excessive even if the models are fairly high-fidelity. I suspect this includes pretty much everything you have in the project and you could shave a lot off of this by properly configuring how this is packaged.
Right on theme and one of the better looking games

I loved the buoyancy simulation, the fact that there was a goal and the level design with the high waves and ship rocking.
I didnt like that there was no visual or any feedback off when the fish is pulling other than the tension when you click, and that shoots up so fast. I also feel like the either the tension bar stores tension on the line or it randomly snaps sometimes because i wasn't even reeling in when it snapped a few times. I would have also love some visual notification when the line snapped instead of just the sound.
A very pretty looking game, wish there was more to do on the ship, maybe go to a breached point and repair it.
I liked the visuals and that the fish kind of fight back. It reminded me of the Fishing Trawler minigame in RuneScape hahaha. Could see this becoming a multiplayer game in the future
Good mechanics and good concept! I can't tell if there's a way yo win or if it's an endless game but good nonetheless.
P.S. everytime i fished, an orange spawned at my location
Haha. That is meant to be the fishing bobber projectile. Looks like it wasn't making it over the edge of the boat. A very satisfying and humorous bug to be honest, I'm not even mad. Hahah
No way to beat the game other than to stay afloat and survive. I had started implementing a hunger and thirst aspect to the game but ran out of time. So that may come in a future update.
Visuals for the game are excellent. I even ran into the rain and it was nice. Couldn't tell if rain affected the water intake rate or not.
For the actual fishing, ultimately it is a game of red-light green light. While the fish is pulling, it won't reel in at all. If i could still reel while the fish is pulling, it would be more dynamic as i could risk the line tension to still progress on catching the fish. Overall though, nice submission. I sort of head canoned that the fish were being trasmuted into wood to fix the ship, so there would be a bunch of wood patches that have odd shaped growths with wooden fins and eyeballs on the walls. Might eventually drive the crew mad... haha
It has good graphics and walking arround felt great. I did not like the amount the camera is shaking while walking. The fishing part works well and i knew what to do. The only thing i was missing is a goal.
Thank you for trying. :)
You need to run the .exe within the following folders:
FishOrSink -> Binaries -> Win64 -> FishOrSink.exe
Ok I will give that a try.
If you extract and the follow this path within the extracted folder, there is a playable version: \FishOrSink\Binaries\Win64
Couldn't play it so didn't vote
