It's an interesting concept, though I'm not sure if it really fits SBIG Jam. It really feels more like a kind of experimental art game than something so bad it's good.

As for my experience, I didn't make it past the first minigame. The bullet hell battles were my least favourite part of Undertale, and the version here seemed even more brutal than those.

I think I made it to the end, and man this game has some really cool stuff but I think it suffers terribly from relying on references (which to be fair is something I've been guilty of too).

For starters, as someone who is unfamiliar with both Undertale and Plants vs. Zombies, figuring out what I was supposed to do for both those levels was a bit rough. I tried clicking on the buttons in the Undertale section and they did nothing, and though I figured out what I was supposed to do, dodging all the obstacles was quite the gauntlet. And with the Plants vs Zombies level I didn't know what each plant type did so it was trial and error for a bit, but failing in that level is very time consuming as there's no "restart level" button. I just had to kinda wait there for a minute as a zombie slowly walked across the screen.

While these were pretty interesting levels, and I imagine really cool for fans of either game, it was really disorienting for newcomers. The pong section was fun, I imagine it wouldn't suffer from the same lack of familiarity as the other sections. Didn't for me anyways.

Aside from that, I like the concept of a game falling apart, and the visuals were all well done.

Good work!

This game is so creative! I really liked the going-back-to-worse-graphics aspect of the story, and narratively it was pretty interesting!

Though the real highlight here are the undertale and PvZ-style minigames! I think that both of them are crafted fairly accurately, and are fleshed out really well.

I found the undertale minigame really difficult nearly to the point  of quitting. I  think part of that was the fact  I haven't played undertale before, and it seems like a fairly difficult and long level, and partly that unlike undertale, it didn't seem to have any invincibility frames when you take a hit, so I  could quite often take 20+ damage points from getting repeatedly hit multiple times very  quickly.

For PvZ however I played that game my entire childhood so it was a blast! I do feel like it was a tremendous effort recreating it in 8-bit, and honestly just very cool!

Thanks so much for taking part in the jam and creating such an interesting game!

A+ liked the undertale

too hard for me

Think you could ease up the difficulty a bit at the start as the Untertale-like combat was imo very hard due its duriation/patterns. Otherwise I liked the concept and it shows that a lot of work went into the game.

That was an interesting mishmash of games.

I did struggle quite a bit with the undertale section (mostly due to the lack of opportunities for healing), but the PvZ section’s difficulty was alright (did end up with a hefty sun surplus at the end)

Good work.

I was addicted to the script game, really fun! I could not for the life of me beat the second level with the plants. I could not figure out how to get enough points to pay for my troops. Other than that I thought it was fantastic.

Thanks for the review! It's hard to tell difficulty of the game when you already know everything about it, so I accidentally made it extremely hard. In the second level I used a lot of potato-mines at the start. I think I will make it easier after jam ends

Loved it! A pot-pourri of classics. Undertale sequence is like a real boss fight.

At first I wanted to use Megalovania x Girono's theme, but it didn't harmonize with gameplay

I love the design, concepts, and art, but kinda confused with the controls. I can't seem to attack?

Submitted

It's Undertale. You cannot attack in your enemy's turn, and the enemy has a very looong attack pattern.

Same as M3zik, but the plant vs zombies screenshot looks really cool! :)

I should've made it easier...

I couldn't get past the Undertale boss, but the presentation here is on point!
