Really fun! After trying this game, I can safely say I'm not cut out to be a mechanical turk 😂
In my first through attempts, I tried to play the game properly, as intended. I quickly realised I wasn't going to get everything, and ended up costing the glorious corporate overlords money. This was a problem
So I thought, why not just overcharge everyone on everything?!? Surely that way we'll earn the big buck! Unfortunately the customers revolted. Drats!
So I finally went into full corporate mode and was like "What if I just produced kinda correct results!?" I looked at the averages of items from each customer (seemingly 3-5 items usually), and just picked any 3-5 items so they had a basket close-ish to correct. Unfortunately I never got close enough to get a good ending 😥
The game softlocked over 50% of the time for me, which is enough for me to probably describe this game as "broken". In the ~10 times I played this, the majority of the time customers got stuck in the isles between the kettles and the TVs. While not a big issue it did hinder my efforts to get a perfect score quite considerably!
For a first time game this is actually really good! loved the title screen music! Thanks for taking part in the jam!
Thank you Ned! We're happy that you enjoyed our game! We'll address soft-lock issue soon. Maybe the real good ending was the customers we meet along the way.
I now know why Jungle Go decided to replace me with Smart Carts.
I actually like the gameplay concept in this one, but I think it's just way too fast-paced and a bit too clunky in its current form.
It felt like everytime I had managed to focus and get one customer their order, another two had entered the store. I also think the ability to click on customers to show them on the clipboard would be a great QOL addition. I also would've preferred a larger and more "clicky" UI for selecting the items, like some sound effect play for adding/removing items. I guess I just felt it was missing feedback.
I did like the little graphics and the mouth sound effects for everything to indicate the customers desires.
All in all a neat idea, nice art and sound, but the pacing and controls need some work. For a first time jam though this was a pretty good start. Good job!
Thank you for the feedback! I think rebalancing the pacing and difficulty would have helped a lot, but we ran out of time to play test. We also did have a slate of QOL features, like clicking the customer to make it easier to navigate the clipboard was in our original list.
However, we ended up ditching that idea to just force the player to frantically flip through the pages in the spirit of SBIG. In hindsight, I think that may not have been a good decision since the clunkiness doesn't add to the game in anyway.
Thought the gameplay could be a bit slower or let you breath a bit more at the start so you figure it out.; especially since UI/controls were a bit clunky for me. Maybe only showing customers currently in the store would make it easier to keep track/cycle through them?
Graphics are great as well as the sound design; I liked the intro "song" a lot. Congratz on your first jam!
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, there are definitely a lot of improvements I think we could've made to pacing, controls, and explanations. Part of it was because we were still putting things together down to the last minute :") but now we'll be faster for the next time!
Was this based on that one amazon store? lol
this is amazing, but also way too fast for me to keep track of everything
I really like the visual and audio design
Haha yes it was! The one that was originally "AI" but revealed to be up to 70% operated by foreign workers watching you on a camera.
Very fun game!
Thank you!
Love the sound design! Definitely helped to read the "How to Play" section, but I had a great time trying to sort through the chaos of unruly shoppers. Great job y'all!
Absolute chaos hahah I love it. I was instantly overwhelmed and confused but I figured it out after playing a few times. I say that, but I got absolutely PIPPED every time I played. A wonderfully bad game, good job! (:
Also, all the drawings were so cute!
Haha, I think the PIP rate is like 99% right now... a cruel reflection of the corporate world :"]
Thought I did well enough but got PIPPED lol, menu song is amazing, and all the sounds work oddly well for the paper aesthetic both of which I really enjoyed about this
It happens to best of us! Thank you for your kind words :)
I am fired.
Game is very fast, maybe there should be difficulty slider, or hotkeys. Sound design was perfect. Perfect, down to the last minute details. I love how everyone is just sprinting into emergency exit without paying. It was fun to play
Thank you for your feedback! Happy to hear that you had a good time with our game :)
Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, we had some dynamic difficulty generation, but didn't get a chance to add it in the final submission. Will definitely keep it in mind for the future though :)
The UI buttons are so small they make it too hard for me to consistently click on them, especially when I have to focus on the customers as well.
I would suggest to add keyboard inputs as alternative controls to add products (with num pad or QWE/ASD/ZXC) and switch customer (with arrow keys), or at least makes all the buttons bigger and their detection boxes squares or circles. I would also suggest using left mouse button and right mouse button for adding and deducting products instead of having to click on 2 smaller buttons.
Furthermore, I wish I could switch to the records of a customer just by clicking on them instead of scrolling through the pages, but I can see it as an intentional design and part of the challenge.
Really love the ASMR sound design, though.
Those are great suggestion and fair complaints! It was a fun trying to develop this game while sound is on. Thank you for your review.
Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, we originally were going to added numerous more controls to make it easier for the game input. Then we decided for the theme of SBIG we'd just force the player to flip pages and click buttons manually. We also ran out of time to improve on the controls :") but I appreciate the feedback!
Will keep it in mind!
Really loved the menu song! The game was not my kind of thing, but it is impressive!
Great visuals! I love the audio cues
Awesome! Love the character designs and the audio :) Ketchup.
Love the concept of this game! It's super challenging as the game forces you to be very attentive in order to make the margins. The sound design is really fun, and you can tell the developers had a lot of fun implementing that idea (so bad, it's good)! The art is also very cute and gives the game a playful feel.
The sound design is gold, and while there are challenging elements to the game, it makes it all the more engaging and fun!
The soundtrack is so good! The game is cute and easy to understand, but it was a bit difficult for me, guess being an AI is just not my calling in life lol
Sound design must be done by a genius, i've never been so immersed in my life, its like i am an AI surveying humans, 10/10.
Beff Jezos needs to outsource more JungleGo! employees because my singular brain cell isn't able to keep up with George buying 32 boxes of noodles. Multiplayer co-op when? 10/10 would work here again.
Clearly, this is why the chain was recently shutdown... unsustainable model :"^)
Beff Jezos OMG :D
Its an interesting concept for a game and i love it! It is hard though given how fast pace the flow of the game is.
Thanks! Maybe I should've toned it down a bit haha, the game feels a lot more alive with more customers on screen at a time. But it definitely made it a bit too hard.
