If you have implemented the modifier, how have you done so?
Too much sound effects that sound great and goofy sometimes to fit this year's modifier.
Music is A+ top tier.

As a lone-wolf developer for the past several years, the thought of having this many chefs in the kitchen actually frightens me 😄 A game made by 10+ people in 9 days would surely be messy, incohesive, and lacking in direction!?
Yes. And that's why I love it!
First off, there is a great commitment to the bit of quantity in this game. From the 30+ different downloads, to the overly long itch page, to the long comments under the jam listing of the game, everything screams chaos. And yet, there is a game that opens and plays, and we're greeted with a lovely opening cutscene, before embarking on the game itself.
At this point, I have to mention the possible highlight of this game: the soundtrack. I had a listen to the full OST after playing this game, and it is full of weird wonderful tracks and a surprising amount of them! The joy of the game constantly switching between tracks and sound effects really helps to enforce the chaotic nature.
The art is great and perfectly SBIG, and clearly a lot of work has gone into making them. Some of the animations look really nice, and the character cards are great.
The gameplay itself is a total mess, but hey, it functions! And to be made in a scratch (or scratch-derivative type thing) is a massive achievement!
Everyone on the team should be so proud of the finished product: it is one of the weirdest and funniest games we've seen this jam. Thanks everyone for taking part in this year's SBIGJam! 😍
Thanks for playing ned
I opened the jam rating page and thought "What the hell is this?"
Then I opened the game page and thought "What the hell is this?"
Then I played the browser build and thought "What the hell is this?"
Then I won and thought "What the hell was that?"
It feels like a shitpost through and through, I don't think I've ever encountered anything this DENSE in SBIG before.
I had no idea what was going on or what I was doing at any point, so this is either amazing or horrible.
Congrats on getting this all to work in Scratch. Good job!
Thanks very much, very good to hear from you
This is a timeless masterpiece.
As a fellow card game developer i can say with confidence, that the game transcends the genre and the meaning of gaming itself. Players might have expectations when booting this game up. When they are done with it, it leaves them with an indescribable emptiness. Art might be subjective, but this otherworldy entity, error in the matrix, peak of human creation, i think everyone can relate to.
thank you for playing this timeless masterpiece and for telling me that it transcends the genre and the meaning of gaming itself, didn't know that it would go to this degree
What the actual hell is going on with the huge number of different downloads? I'm not sure if this is meant to be part of a bit, or if you guys are actually that disorganized. They're all horribly named, too, so I have no idea which one is which once I've downloaded them. Honestly, between that, the wall of text on the game page, and the 40 devlogs, I was starting to get soured on the game before I'd even played it. I can see why you guys though this would be funny, and I've done similar things in the past. The reality, though, is that I'm not invested enough in what to me is a random jam game to really engage, and that likely rings true for most players.
So, I gave up on all that and just played the version on the jam page.
I honestly have no idea how the game is supposed to work. Clicking cards would play them, but only sometimes, and I have no idea why. The card stats panel on the upper left doesn't seem to change. I lost one round, lost the second, and I have no idea why.
Unfortunately, I think this one falls on the "so bad it's terrible" side of that knife edge between that and "so bad it's good". The visual style is perfect, as is the audio, and the general concept is solid, but the gameplay is just too opaque and confusing. It's not clear how my actions as a player are mapping to things happening in the game or what any of the animations happening mean. I'm just left to randomly click buttons to maybe get an ending.
ok the amount of downloads is because of me, I keep lots of backups and for people looking for things different in each version thats ok, sorry for the horrible names, I pretty much named them off the top of my head. I dont write devlogs well, sorry about that if it made your experience bad
dunno why it would break for you
there are turns in the game so it should be good
i might add developer tools later on, maybe make better devlogs
I genuinely have no idea what’s going on in this game, but I’m guessing that’s intentional.
It’s pretty impressive how you somehow managed to get this working within Scratch of all things.
Thanks for playing, this isn't scratch but its turbowarp
have fun figuring out how this works i guess
This was an experience. I just kept clicking cards, and I kept on winning.
Visuals were really funny! That and the chaotic sounds did make this an overall enjoyable experience for me!
Thank you so much for playing!! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed our game :)
Thanks for liking this "chaotic...overall enjoyable experience", that seems like you had a great time
Honestly I have no idea what this game is about. I just pick the strongest-looking card and... win?
The OST is extremely sick, though. Wish there was an extended version of it on YouTube.
Yeah I'm still working on recording each one
wait did you watch the intro, should appear
-29 enemy ovveride health and -14 for me :D I loved the card designs. Congrats devs!
Damn you sure did break the gameyeah that happens occasionally and I am fixing bugs, very good job for doing that I would like you to break it a bit moreplease don't break it a bit moreThat checks out, during testing I got my override health to 1010 😅
Glad to hear you enjoyed the designs!
I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you <3
nice to hear that you enjoyed every second of it, thank you <3
Not sure I knew what I was doing but had a great time lmao, wonderfully chaotic game!
Glad you enjoyed!!!
Sameee, but I liked all the effects! I never knew scratch was capable of so much... I think my only thing was that I was a little confused on when it was my turn and what the cards said.
sorry if you couldn't understand how it worked, when the enemy plays their cards it's your turn and if you don't know just spam click.
you can view a full list of the cards at the pinned post.
btw it isn't really scratch, I overloaded it so I used Turbowarp after overloading both web and desktop versions of scratch and the web version of turbowarp
nice to know you liked the chaos, have a great time lmao
Having a music chaos slider is fantastic though not sure what it did, in fact no idea what anything did and still had a blast from the sheer chaos of this, amazing.
Thank you very much for having a blast
This thing was an absolute, total mess! Sometimes I had no idea what was going on and if I was actually choosing cards or not. The sounds oddly worked, the cards were of so many styles, the ghost was really cute. Absolute mess, brilliant!
Thank you for playing!! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the pure chaos
glad you liked this "absolute mess", thanks
Idk what is with this jam but every game ive played thus far is a fever dream, and this one is too:D I think a game with 11 (?) developers results in the pure epitome of what this game jam is about, this game is definitely terrible but also beatiful at the same time! I love how all of the card textures are just completely incoherent, and the sound design fits the modifier perfectly:)
From my tiny knowledge of scratch, being able to even put this thing together seems like a miracle...
Overall a great game (for this jam;D), hope all of you had fun working on it!
thanks, I had a lot of fun programming this haha
didn't expect that big of a good response
Very cool!! Great work everyone :)
Thanks very much
Hearthstone is jealous
lol
The music and art of the game was very good. Good work!!
thank you very much
You went all out for this game jam! It was very fun once I figured out how to play!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! :)
Thanks!
