Impressive! Pixel graphics was awesome. The game felt polished and well made with cool particle effects. Good Job! Addictive!

Good game, the graphics were cute

Mesmerizing. It looks good without sacrificing gameplay, which itself is pretty unique.

Awesome game. You have a pretty solid foundation to work off.

It got me into the zone. I really like Tetris so I think its cool when ppl rift off the idea. The one element I think you need to capture better is the chaos. Like late into a Tetris game its pure insanity. Its like have fun while drowning. Also head to head multiplayer would put this game on the next level.

I get maybe you want to avoid the hardness of Tetris, but in `Swap` you can just immediately destroy a block when it drops down and just play infinitely that way. Obviously I'm not the game's creator so take my suggestion with a grain of salt. But one idea would be blocks can't get consumed unless you have 3 or more touching. It doesn't seem like a perfect solution, but a/ws good job! Very high quality work.

Thank you for playing! That is a really good idea, maybe I should tweak the balancing a bit. The reason it is how it is now, is that I wanted the player to not just break every block, but instead create large combos and then break them when they are almost near the top. I encourage this by having the score gained by each connecting block get exponentially higher. This is more balanced for people who are trying to compete for a top score, as in order to place on the leaderboard you need consistently large combos. I do really like your idea for a more frantic, tetris-like mode. Maybe I can greatly increase the fall speed in infinite mode and make it more like the gameplay of Tetris. I appreciate the suggestion!

Very simple neat polished and well executed. Can see this working well as an hyper casual mobile game.
Though it was a little hard for me to see exactly how the theme was incorporated.

Really good game though you should publish it

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea, but yeah like others have said. No theme.

I am not sure how well does it fit the jam, if you took art and idea from your previous project and just wrote code for a casual game all over again.
Game is great though.

no theme :(

Very satisfying game and very polished, but sadly i cannot see what am I collecting.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah I know it doesn't fit the theme, just wanted to get back into game jams and this jam aligned with my schedule :D

1.WHERE THEME!!!, 2.If that's the first version https://llamaking1.itch.io/swap-classic then it wasn't that bad (and it's very similar to new one). I have problem with these cause it looks like you just added leaderboard changed music and posted it as entry for this jam. Outside of these two things it's great game, good job!

Developer(+1)

This was my first jam in a few years, just trying to get back into it by remaking one of my first games. I knew the game didn't really fit the theme, I just had time this weekend and wanted to participate in a jam again. I know that will probably hurt my ratings, but this was just for fun anyways :)

I really enjoyed the game but I don't seem to understand what it is I'm COLLECTing. Maybe I missed something.

Please rate my game if you can as well

Awesome game! The aesthetics are amazing and the audio is excellent. The gameplay itself is pretty fun but it is pretty easy for most of the game until it gets almost impossible to keep up. It's also really finicky to swap the right blocks sometimes because the cursor thing is so sensitive. But overall this is still an excellent and very impressive game. Well done!

Hi, thanks for the feedback! I unfortunately wasn't able replicate your experience with the cursor being overly sensitive, and am having a hard time figuring out what you meant.
If you're having difficulty playing the game, i was in the same boat my first couple of rounds. It picks up pace quite fast, and might be slightly disorienting for new players. Sorry to hear about your experience.
Also to note: you can swap blocks at any point in the game, even while blocks are already placed! Hopefully that helps you get that next high score!

Thanks for playing and im happy you enjoyed the music!

I meant that the box that you use to swap blocks can be a bit touchy. Sometimes it will move further than I meant too because I held the arrow key for a bit too long. Hope that helps!

Developer

Hey thank you for the feedback! You're definitely right about the balancing, I need to change the pace of the game a little after the jam. I will also see what I can do to address the the sensitivity of the cursor. Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for playing!
