I found it very interesting even though I wasn't able to progress much, I don't know if that was the idea, but after I moved the van, I took the path to the left, ran, ran, until something caught me... but I liked it A lot of the tension the game brings, I wish I had played more. Congratulations on the project!!

This is a cool, eerie experience. I really liked the visuals of this game! Especially the deer, it felt weird in a good way haha!
Actually on that note, for some more constructive feedback as y'all continue work on this game: I think I was looking for some more things to be going on like that to engage me a little more--stuff like things moving, or things that look like they might have been moving (just some stuff to make me go "What was that? Did something just move around by the trees? What's going on?"). Maybe it's because I was able to see a lot around me as a player (it feels pretty bright for nighttime), or maybe it didn't really feel like things were really changing outside of the sounds I heard. I'm not really sure, but something didn't quite hit the "fear of the unknown" note as I played.
Unrelated, but I also really liked what happened when I went strayed away from the path by the campsite! I did that on a second playthrough because I was curious haha!

Thank you for the constructive feedback! We are going to work hard to make sure that fear of the unknown note is hit hard with the full release. I like the idea of having stuff move or appear to move to keep you on edge even more. I appreciate you mentioning lighting as I have never messed around with Godot’s world environment lighting before so this was a first go at it and I definitely see the flaws you pointed out. We’re glad you still found enjoyment in the game and we’re happy you played! Full release will come out around Halloween :)

Ever since the Blair Witch Project I think it's safe to say that any camping trip in the woods with a supernatural presence is going to end badly. I liked the establishing approach to set up the game experience and think you did a good job and staging a set piece of several scripted events to build tension - the scream, the camp incident, and then the car horn were a great string of events to creep me out. In terms of constructive feedback as asked, for the full experience, you'll have to figure out whether you want to continue down the focus on scripted experiences - and making the game in effect a walking sim - or whether there are some horror mechanics (go-tos for this type are managing light, avoiding encroaching enemies or finding items) to add some depth to the game experience. Either direction is completely valid, but will definitely help shape what kind of game you want Cryptid Camping to be! Oh, and the staring deer is creepy as hell. All the best to your studio and hope you're able to keep on with this game!
A lil short, but the escape sequence was nerve inducing for me, so much that I didn't want to turn around and see what was chasing me lol Good Sound design as well.
Overall, it got me hooked and wanting to know more about what's to come. Good stuff!
I tabbed out in the beginning, and upon refocusing the window, the cursor didn't recapture so I didn't actually see what was chasing me, though I'm pretty sure (don't correct me) that one of the whispers said "eat the banana skin", so now I'm super freaked out.
Good visuals, and the objectives were simple but not boring. I enjoyed it, well done!
This is an excellent demo; it kept me on edge throughout the entire experience. I’m not sure if you’ve already planned this, but for the final version, I think it would be interesting to add a bit of story or context, even something as simple as: 'Today I want to go camping; it’s the best day to see [X] stars.' I think you’re developing the idea very well, and it perfectly achieves its goal of keeping the player in suspense. I’d love to play the next version when it’s ready.
The aesthetics were my favorite part! You did a really good job capturing the psx style. The addition of a jitter shader would tie it up really nicely in my opinion. You guys put a good effort into sound design, and it paid off. It added to the spook factor of the game and helped it seem like I was really outside (wouldn't know much about that anyways lol)
nice game! i like the atmosphere. and the sound effects was amazing. they made it match more creepy
Cool little game, nice visuals and atmosphere. The interactions and prompts worked well and there was a nice build up. Would have liked to have seen more to the game in terms of a jam entry, but the little bit thats there is nice. Would reccommend trying to populate the area bit more with stuff like bushes, sticks and stones as the big flat camping areas felt a bit dull, also more motion to the movement, felt a bit too static.
Promising stuff though will be cool to see where this goes.
