Really cool art style, and was really interesting to play, it was cool that the other character could also move on it's own if you hit a wall or something.
The game was so unique and could stand alone as a title but I don't know how it relates to the prompt?
You don't see how having a second game being played under the surface of the other one relates to under the surface?or how a fire character in a hot world and an ice cube in a cold world relate to hot and cold? All with a dark cold color and the brightest color that can exist to represent hot and cold?
You're right, I'll try harder next time.
At first I didn't but you're right now I can see it and I like it, very abstract
I feel remember the game watergirl and fireman xD, it's good game.
never heard of it! Googling it helped. It's cool, but it seems like it's a 2 player puzzle platformer? I'll check it out
The difficulty disclaimer was well earned lol, but I was able to beat it, and it was sooooo satisfying. The last 3 levels in particular took me a while, but there's nothing I would change here. Beautiful level design, great music and art, and that's the most epic version I've ever heard of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas", and I listened to the end out of happiness at beating the game. Excellent, my current favorite game this jam!
Thank you thank you. There's penty I would/will change though! a couple of bug fixes and qol updates for the itch version, and then I might add mobile controls and toss an expanded version in the app/play stores
This one is very very good, level 10 tilted me and 11 filtered me, but is very good. The only feedback I would give is to let me restart faster, for these kind of games that's fundamental otherwise the tilt meter at the top of my head start to fill way faster and then I cry.
Also, you may be interested in a game that does this "control two characters at the same time" that I played not too long ago and is very weird and also very interesting from a gamedev perspective, is called "Hypotheses on the Symmetry between Vision and Hands", it has a demo on steam
Thank you thank you. I already implemented the faster restart and also a death counter and leaderboard. I'm just afraid to update it on itch during judging. lol
I had never heard of that game. Although the controls look different for each hand, I've seen many games that do that with separate controls, single controls for 2 characters are new to me so I decided to make it.
Love the concept and gameplay was a lot of fun!! Especially love the death effect
Thanks! it's an ode to the OG hard platformer, Megaman. What's better than one megaman explosion??? TWO!!
Ah the base/side of a spike, my mortal nemesis. Solid entry.
Yep, some of those colliders are unforgiving. reminds me of the good ole' NES days!
Thanks for your comment.
A very creative game. The gameplay has a lot of potential. Great game!
At the time you were making this on Discord I straight up realized our ideas were similar, I am glad I changed my Idea, and built something else, because this unturned twist was amazing, and tbh, my idea wouldn't have stood a chance against this game, it is really fun! Hats Off!
Man, level 10 was a STRUGGLE. Ended up just yolo'ing and somehow made it. I usually hate these types of precision platformers but couldn't put this one down, and that's saying something.
I didn't think anyone would actually finish it! good job!
I really like it.
If I could make some suggestions though:
Don't take the player back to the start screen on death and make them go back to their keyboard and hit start. Just immediately spawn them back at the spawn point. One of the biggest pains in a game where you repeatedly die over and over again is counting up the amount of time you spend waiting to get back into the level. With a game like this, before you get a clear on the hardest levels, you'll spend a huge amount of time just waiting for screens to change. Many people will quit not because they don't want to play the level but because they don't want to wait to try again anymore. It seems like its not a big deal but when you die frequently it is.
IMO, the player moves too far left/right from a very slight input. It would feel better if you could move very slightly with a small touch.
Also, let the player use D-pad for movement on controller in addition to analog. It allows more precision.
Also, in some of the harder levels, its ambiguous whether its the top or bottom character that is dying, which makes it hard to figure out what you're doing wrong. There should be some kind of clear indicator which side caused you to die.
Good job.
Thanks man!
I've actually heard all3 suggestions before, and I will implement them, but I was afraid of updating the game while the jam is active lol.
precision platforming? more like imprecision platforming, because i'm very imprecise
Thats exactly how I felt about your submission too! lol
SO insanely good! The creative gameplay, the cute pixel art, the atmosphereic music and SFX... make more levels and put this on Steam for money.
You know I think I might!
I'm also thinking of adding mobile controls and app-storing it
Painful but very fun
Incredible concept, really kept my attention. Love the brainpower required to move two characters at the same time. Lots of replayability and general feel was exactly what i like in games like this. 10/10 would pay for full release. LOVE LOVE LOVE the name too, for those that know about the leidenfrost effect this should tickle you.
