That was really fun! really good job on making this in such short time!

I found it really funny that the health reg still works when i wait to choose my upgrade lol

Developer(+1)

Hah, yeah, a buddy pointed that out to me yesterday. I hadn't considered that scenario, definitely abuseable if you're reeaally patient :D

Amazing game! Had a lot of fun  CANEing humans!

I had a lot of fun with this one, and once again it's ridiculously polished for a 72 hour game. The music, art and gameplay loop are all pretty good, and the Mariah Carey reference at the end was hilarious. The only thing that felt a little bit off was the power, and trying to avoid the characters. It felt like it was hard to find a balance between a getting destroyed, or being absolutely broken (which I did very much enjoy lol), but this could definitely of been a skill issue on my part. The strategy that I ended up going with was farming a bit on the first round, and then blasting through it (with quite a bit more farming because it was fun destroying dozens of them in seconds). Great job!

As for balance - yeah, totally agree.  I seem to have a knack for wanting to build complicated combat systems only to not have sufficient time to balance things!  I playtested it on and off for probably 2 hours during its polish phase, and would frequently find myself fine-tuning combat.  Ultimately I didn't want it feeling too easy, or to feel that everything was a pushover, so this is kind of where I landed.  Could easily tweak it another few days.

Thanks for the kind words and the review.  I struggled a lot with if people would 'get it', so I'm glad some did :D

Overpowered, fun, captivating, I enjoyed playing this creation of yours. Where'd you get the music?

Developer

opengameart.org for all music and sfx. Glad you enjoyed it!

Really enjoyed this! Got overpowered pretty quickly. It took me a while to notice the mobs up top because they just kept running into the wall and never pathed around it lmao

Also maybe I missed it in the tutorial but it took me a while to catch on that I was specifically supposed to blast the present at the center? Maybe because it took me a while to realize the map actually had a top portion to it off-screen.

It has pleasant game art and a great game loop. I played it more than a couple of times. Great job!

This was a very fun and engaging one! My favorite was [REDACTED], it was very [REDACTED]. Also, I like how the flame can get really big after a while, specially since I had a bunch of upgrades before I remembered that I had to hit the present, like, I read it in the tutorial, I just forgot because I got in the zone. As feedback, I guess there were other priorities but a health bar or feedback that the henchmen died would have helped a lot taking in consideration that the flame cover the area completely, I was never sure if they died or not. Cool game!

might be my pc but resolution is a bit too big on browser and can't really see the whole screen. nice gameplay, art and polish tho. one suggestion is it'd be great if we have a clear feedback when hitting enemies.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I've received feedback for enemy hits feedback, simply didn't have time with everything else.

As for resolution, it's designed for 1920x1080. Will work towards better resolution support in the future.

Thanks for playing!

Absolutely loved the gameplay, it also the explanation and lore at the start was a really nice touch especially with the redacted parts. Also all the abilities were really interesting as well.

Submitted(+1)

Super fun and so amazing, loved the game. The overall idea is amazing of shooting fire, and surely I was redacted man.

Submitted(+2)

The polish on this is immaculate, and the game feels good to play. However, making it more clear that you have to shoot the big present would help.

Developer

Thanks for playing, and noted! I tried to add that in the tutorial, but I've seen it a few times that people didn't get the message. Will be explicitly clear in the future.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

yeah some players are always going to skip text if given the option (or just only register 20% of what they read), especially if they see several screens of it.

not me. *looks around*

But yeah, this game is a lot more fun if you know that hitting the presents will advance the difficulty haha

Submitted(+1)

Very nicely polished! There were a few minor problems, though:

-The top and bottom were cut off on my screen, so I couldn't see my green fuel bar

-The bar at the top never seemed to fill up with anything? I'm guessing it was meant to be XP, but it always appeared empty

-The enemies could really use a HP bar or some indicator of how low on HP they are, I kept wasting all my fuel torching the heck out of them, but eventually I realized most of them died with only a short hit of fire.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the awesome feedback.

Did you end up beating the game? The objective was to shoot the present. I tried to make that clear in the tutorial, but perhaps I needed to be crazy explicit :D my wife had similar confusion and I modified it, perhaps it wasnt enough. The progress is what the top bar tracks.

For the other points, UI was designed for 1080. I'd love to get to a place where I support other resolutions better, will work on that next time. As far as npc general health and feedback - noted. Opted to focus on other areas, but definitely agree it would help general gameplay feedback.

Submitted(+1)

Oops, I didn't realize I was supposed to be shooting something! I ran around the whole level but nothing reacted when I ran into it, so I assumed it was a wave-based survival game. Maybe make it something other than a present? Because the small presents are pickups; things that look the same should behave the same way.

Love the game look and feel!

Developer

Thanks! Spent a lot of time trying to get a solid arcadey feel.

I really liked when an enemy spawned in and said any of the classic henchman lines.

Developer

Thanks :D I could've honestly spent hours writing those stupid things. They were a lot of fun
