Loved the idea as it was very unique and interesting and the fact you can see just before the murder turns around with the little on screen mark works great. I think some music and sounds effects would improve the game but overall very well made.
I like the unique stealth type of game approach to this. I think scary music and perhaps a jumpscare to the player if you get caught would add to the scary atmosphere of the game. Love the direction it is headed :)
A cool and uniquely terrifying idea, i really feel sorry for the player because his ability to walk is clearly impaired.
Would be cool to hear so ominous music and possibly to see a variety of levels to escape the killer.
Overall great job and a really interesting idea!
It's definitely different to most other games created for the Jam. The visuals are really nice and the gameplay works well. As most people have mentioned here, slightly faster (not by much) move speed would do wonders for pacing and obviously speed up the spotter to match player speed.
All in all, really good job and I quite enjoyed it :D
A very unique take on the One button game concept and it works well. The art is simplistic but easily understood; you have created an emotive narrative with just the background.
Things for your consideration:
- Faster player movement
- A message box to signal the input key (space)
- A more exciting reward for scoring a point than seeing the score symbol increment, maybe an animation or sound could play additionally.
Really nice game, well done!
Nice game, I like the game concept and the theme of it. The blood is designed well.
I'd suggest, to improve, just increaser the speed of the player, as it feels too slow, also make the warning a lot quicker and random as then it gives players the choice to either risk still moving, to gain extra distance, or if they should stop to stay safe. Other than that, a nice game.
Really great concept for a one button game. I thought that it could have been a bit harder, I think it gives you too long of a warning before he turns. You mentioned below that you used a rng which is great, however I think the frequency could be increased a little. It's difficult to make him feel unpredictable in such a small game but you did a great job. Nice one!
The game idea is great and i enjoy the animations you added for the palyer movement. A suggestion i could make is possibly adding in more levels or something to make the core gameplay more enjoyable.
Overall its a good concept and was executed well given the time we had.
I like the idea and the sprites are really well done, but I think you could use more feedback to the player about when the murderer is going to turn around, the exclamation mark is constantly present and the time it takes seems to vary wildly.
Also it seems that you die as soon as he turns around, which not only makes the game maybe too difficult, but it also means you don't actually see him turn around before the level resets, making it unclear whether you were caught or the game just bugged.
Great job!
Thank you.
On the point of the warning, it was originally intended to go with a sound que in order to alert the player. However, as im new to unity, I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to add the sounds into the game. If given more time for this I would definitely add the sound que as intended. In the code itself you can even find the sound folder with the sounds already in there, just unused for now.
On the side of turning, that is a small timing issue on the codes end, though that should be an easy fix. If there is a way to replace the version of the game uploaded, this will be fixed soon.
With how often he turns is also determined by a random number generator, so that he is difficult to predict.
Thank you for your feedback
