I loved the visuals and the gameplay too. Also nice use of the focus! At first i thought the game was a bit too easy but it turned out very balance. Maybe a bit of music would add to the immersion of the game, but apart from that very good job!

I would be glad if you tried and rated my game too :)

Well themed visuals and nice little starting animation.  Wind is a clever way of giving the player refreshing resources. A short playtime was nice, especially for a game jam.

I was confused about what to do with the hands, whether I attack or avoid them.

It was a cute little management game.,

Glad you enjoyed it !

Great idea and execution. It's a good mix of mechanics and blends well with the theme. Giving the mom eyes that follow us around could be cute and maybe a few QoL changes would be good but other than that great game!

🔥

Thank you!

Interesting idea, We might try adding eye moviment for the next update

This was cute! I had fun playing this. It is well polished and pretty straightforward. We actually had very similar ideas. I like your implementation of it a lot. I am excited to see where you take it from here!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! I liked yours too!

Fun, simple, straight to the point, takes time to learn, difficulty curve rises at an appropriate rate makes you want to try again each time differently.

Only issue found was in the system response of item pick up. Item becomes highlight pressed space bar multiple time for the pick up to register. Tuning that mechanic to become more responsive would allow the game to grow at an appropriate rate becoming near the end fast passed and intense.

Overall, well done polished, working, and fun to play!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

We already have fix for the post jam update :)

Loved the game
it was rather simple, great-looking but very difficult not gonna lie
Maybe because i read the controls on ~1:30 huh
That didn't stop me from having lots of fun and yelling about why fire can't eat rock

Developer

If you like rocks we might have a nice surprise on the post jam update 👀

Super cute game!

I love that you added wind to build up pressure because things can vanish if you don't pick them up fast enough. Smart and cool idea!

The visuals are great in this game and I love the player character. The whole game idea is quite interesting and unique.

The only thing I did not like was that I need to press space to pick everything up. I think picking up stuff automatically would have been better and not hurt the experience or challenge. But besides that: awesome game!

For me it's a bit too hard but I also lack the patience to really dig into survival games :D

Really good work, well done!

Edit: Totally forgot to mention the lack of music. I really like that you focuses on sound effects and ambiences. The whole windy weather really benefits from it!

Developer

Thank you!

Post jam we are doing hold the interact button for less button mashing!

We wanted to the game sound be more ambient and stuff! But we think the game would greatly benefit with some small music segments. And then again music is hard

I will keep an eye out for updates on your game :)

Yeah I also think the baby's fire needs more feedback. It will be added post jam :)

What a great game!

I was a bit confused at first about how things work, but once I got the hang of it it became so much fun.

Things I liked:

  • Art style
  • The implementation of 'multi-use' and the theme.
  • The little narrative and the whole mother-baby relationship.

Suggestions:

  • While I like the turn animation of the character, I feel like the light shouldn't flip with it.  It breaks the feel of it all being 2d.

Great Job!

Definetly one of my favorite from the jam !
The idea is very original & the visuals are just so cute !

The game might be a bit too hard & need some balancing but appart from that it's a really well rounded game.
Great work !

This was such a gem of a game, from the graphics and atmosphere to the cute fire sprite frantically running around to keep the fire lit. The gameplay loop was really tight and always had the player trying to manage resources. I think it did get a bit too difficult and hard to manage though, I wasn't able to beat the game. Regardless, I still had a lot of fun playing this and it was a fantastic submission!

Good graphics

Firstly, this game is absolutely beautiful. All assets are distinctive, clearly distinguishable, and easy on the eyes. The Baby Fire is adorable (I only wish Mom had a bit more personality).

Another strength is the variety of challenges (Baby's hunger, Mom's hunger, grabby hands, snowballs, rain...), and the smooth way that they are gradually introduced throughout the course of the 5 minutes. This is some good design planning.

The game is rather difficult; I gave it 3 good tries, and I didn't make it through to 5 minutes. I think one thing that would help would be a warning when the player is getting too hungry. Mom has this warning, but Baby does not--I think it would be useful, even though we can see Baby's hunger meter at the top left, because it's so easy to get distracted with everything that's going on.

In the spirit of constructive feedback, I couldn't get used to how we open the crafting menu with Space but close it with E. Lastly, it might have been helpful for the left mouse button to be an auxiliary "interact" button.

Thank you for the feed! :)

The baby also has a warning, but I think it sometimes get bugged or something

That is an excellent ux suggestion!  got a bit tired by the end of the jam and forgot about the ux a bit and did't think about that :I
