Wow! Amazing aesthetic and concept! Great visuals (and use of the Godot text/button etc features). Really polished - great job!
nice work ♥
Wow I love the way this looks. I really like the concept with the masks and going between worlds.
Awesome atmosphere and color palette, really liked that. It was a bit hard in the beginning for me, but I kinda got into it quite quickly. Well done!
Stay funky,
Dez
The ambience and storyline are very clean and engaging. Great job on the art and polish. The game takes a while to complete and it's hard to upgrade and get better masks but the mechanic is interesting and the game was fun to play. Well done!
really good game but could do with some balencing, the sword doesn't feel responsive and the music doesn't fit the visuals but it's definitely a game I'll play again!
Nice atmosphere in the game.
Liked the mask shop idea.
The pixel art was good also.
I did die very quickly at the start of the game. Maybe increase the sword speed at the start, but overall I enjoyed the play.
Fun little game!
Very Fun Game! But it felt a little repetitive after a little bit of time. Maybe you could hyve multiple world of livings or generate a random one every new try.
Cool and funy game, but it feels quite repetetive. maybe the "world of living" shouldn!t reset every time I die?
I like the game, but the sword is kind aslow and why do i instantly die when i touch the yellow guy?
Thanks for the comment, yeah, maybe I should increase the speed of the sword but on the other hand, it makes you not too overpowered and so you need to approach enemies more carefuly instead of rushing them... The yellow guy should not kill you instantly if you have some upgrades, what mask were you using?
I used the first 3 or 4 maks.
Very cool world and lore, I love the art. The gameplay feels kind of frustrating, especially since the enemies turn around instantly and the sword feels slow.
Amazing game!! Masks offering protection is a cool concept. The visuals are nice, the whole world is immersive. Well done!
This game was a fun experience.
The upgrade system added so much for me. Also the Idea of buying your HP at the start of every trial was realy fun. Visuals are amazing and I love the setting you choose. Combat is very difficult and I think it would help a lot, if there would be a startup animation that is relatable ^^.
I figured out that you can stand ontop of the enemy. This helped me out a lot and made fighting a lot more complex.
Overall a very good game.
Thanks for a comment, I like how every player finds his own way to overcome the challenge that this rather difficult combat system makes. I agree with you that enemies should somehow telegraph their attack, I will try to update that post jam.
So glad I came back and gave this game another shot! (the windows+up trick worked btw)
I really like the shop system, and thought it was really cool how the masks were reduced in price after the first time you bought them. I love the concept of this game, and I feel like if you added some world design and varied mechanics in the living world, you would have a really fun game on your hands!
I found a bug where if you attack, then press away from an enemy then towards them rapidly, you deal damage to them two to three times. But honestly, I feel like it makes the game kind of...better? I feel like it added an element of skill to the combat, where if you spaced and timed your attack better you would get rewarded. I feel like the combat would've been kinda slow and boring without the exploit but I was having a blast trying to perfect my rapid strikes! Honestly if you added this as an intended element of combat and maybe made it a bit less glitchy, it would be a really cool mechanic
A few miscellaneous feedback points:
- The amount of money you have shouldn't disappear whenever you're in the shop
- It isn't really clear whether you can stack masks or not. Like if I buy an expensive mask then a cheap one, will it overwrite my expensive one?
- It was kinda strange how you could still buy weapon upgrades after you already bought them, does that do anything?
- I got both pieces of the key and made it to the locked door, but it didn't open
Overall this game was great! One of my favorites for sure!
That's great feedback. Funny that when I let my friend test the game, he also found the weapon chaining bug and I though it was kinda cool so I kept it in. When you buy weapon/mask and then take the worse one, it unfortunately takes the worse one (although the masks are discounted and the weapons are free) and to open the door you need three keys.
(Spoiler: 1 in world, 1 in shop, 1 from the boss)
ahh okay, I got thrown off because in the shop it says that it's the other half to the key which made me feel like there's only two. I just hopped past the boss cause he looked like a normal enemy lmao
I really loved the art, music, and story with the mask, but the gameplay was a little tedious because the combat was not that responsive or flashy. Also, I think with having such a short game loop, it might be better to have a checkpoint system, procedural generation, or some sort of permanent changes in the world, so you are not playing the same simple part over and over. It was more fun to sprint and dodge the enemies.
Nice game, really captivated me for some reason
Glad to hear that
Such a nice and pretty game :)
I also had the window problem, but I set the display size to 100% instead of 125%, Then it worked perfectly :)
Very good graphics and sounds, totally recommended to play
Ay nice, always cool to see a fellow Godot user! This game looks incredible, I love the background you have in the spirit world! Could I ask how you did that? It looks incredible! I like the general concept of the game too, it seemed really cool! Unfortunately the game window seemed to be bugged for me, the window appearing in the top left and being unmovable. This made the game unplayable for me as I couldn't read the text, or see how much money I had, and I couldn't seem to but a mask to exit the spirit world. (btw the text that says this is really hard to read)
Shame cause this game looked really cool, I would definitely like to try out a post-jam version with this issue fixed! I love the world you created, it gives me major hollow knight vibes, and the graphics are great!
PS. You can get rid of the debug window in Godot by unchecking the little box in the bottom left when exporting the game
Thanks for the feedback. That background is shader that uses open simplex noise to generate that look. I followed this tutorial:
To fix your problem, try to stretch it or press "Windows + arrow key". I hope it helps. Btw thanks for the tip with the debug console, I forget about it when I was exporting :)ah okay, I'll try the windows + arrow key issue and try it again! The stretching won't work because the window doesn't have any edges to it. Thanks for linking the tutorial, I'll check it out later!
Very cool atmosphere, especially at the starting location. Great job!
lots of minor bugs but it doesn't bother me
nice concept btw
