Visually it looks nice, movement feels great, but I don't see how you implemented the theme.
Thanks for the comment! I used the theme by you having to die to progress, usually in games when you jump into a spike you take damage or die, but I used it that you progress onto the next level. :D
Pretty nice game! The sound design is really good, the concept is easy to understand and can make for some good puzzles. Also despite just being shapes, the visuals work quite well. I think the implementation of the theme is fairly basic, because you could put anything as the goal instead of spikes.
Thanks for the feedback!
Great game. I think it would have benefited from tighter controls, but the puzzles, sounds, and visuals are all super well done. Very impressive for just 3 days.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! And making the controls tighter could open up lots more level ideas!
Cool puzzle game!
Thanks, Glad you enjoyed!
Good idea and sounds, But the start interface has a lot of stuff and confuses a little bit, but everything else is good
It was thrown together last minute for the sake of having a menu, after the jam I'll ty to refine it down. Thanks! :D
Very well made platformer with an effective visual style. The concept is pretty standard, but well executed and the sound design is top-notch!
I think I got soft-locked on stage 3 after failing the jump after the first switch, but otherwise a really good experience.
Thanks for the feedback! Also you should be able to press "R" to restart the stage. :D
I see that in the controls now, I think it's the only level where that's needed though, since most other levels have pits if you get stuck.
Quite an awesome game :D. This game fits the theme quite nicely, and it's really simple to understand! The simplicity of this game is a huge plus and the visuals are simple, yet really good! The music and SFX in this game are fantastic, fits the aesthetic really well! The game overall is really great and for your first jam, is actually quite an outstanding performance! The game is really polished and I haven't run into any bugs!
Some tips I would like to point out to improve the game are:
- Decrease the transition time, it takes quite a while to transition from one scene to another.
- This tip I would recommend applying to future platforms if you plan on making one. I recommend adding jump buffering and coyote time (If you're confused about what are these, YouTube has plenty of videos explaining them). Adding these will make controls feel much more fluid.
Overall, a simple, fantastic game. I enjoyed it a lot!
Keep it up!
Wow so much amazing feedback!
I was thinking about the transition time being too long and to be honest I was going to try to implement coyote time but ran out of time. :P
Thank you so much for taking the time to play and give feedback, glad you enjoyed!!
This game is amazing
It's a really nice Puzzle Platformer with really nice controls
The colors, particles and level design are really simple but really cool
Good job 👍
Thanks! Went for gameplay over visuals as I didn't want to overwhelm myself on my first game! :D
Shout out to the controls screen also letting you try them live right there. Good audio and visuals. The glow and sound queues are a great match. Nothing to complain about, it's a simple looking and fun puzzle platformer.
Yeah you don't really see many games doing it. Definitely think it improves player experience!
Love the gameplay. Just work a little bit on the graphics because this style is very new and a lot of people still dont like it. Anyway... I love it!
Glad to hear! I was thinking of implementing different "skins" in. :D
Yes! I switched it up in 6.233333... seconds? Minutes, maybe? Certainly didn't feel like hours...
Anyways, I love how you actually tried to make fun puzzles! Not many do this on jams.
6.23 minutes! Couldn't figure out a way to make it round up in the 3 days lol :P
milliseconds = Math.floor(seconds * 1000)
text = (
(milliseconds / 60000) + " : " +
((milliseconds / 1000) % 60) + " . " +
(milliseconds % 1000)
)
I'm using GDvelop which uses an event system, I'm not sure that will work. Thanks anyway though
A nice concept, I would recommend coyote time for your future platformers, as it would help out a lot.
I did want to add it, but wasn't quite sure how. Definitely something to look into though!
Yea, it may be hard to do in a game jam (I don't know what engine you are using), so a loophole to doing that is adding double jump, like I did in my game. Welcome to game dev, the more lazy you can be the better.
An impressive amount of levels!! I like the animations, but the amount of particles makes it laggy on firefox for me. I know there's a downloadable version but it's 128MB :/
Thought I went a little overboard on the particles :P
I love puzzle games and this one delivers. The puzzles were never too hard and I like how you incorporated parkour into the puzzles. I liked the vibrant colours and there were only a few softlocks! Fits the topic really well and overall a really great experience.
Thanks really appreciate it! When the jam is over I will be sure to get rid of the softlocks :D
Great game, makes me suspicious that this is your first!
Really nice game, impressive length for the amount of time.
Thanks!
Interesting game! Although i think the controls at some parts are kind of hard.
This was very fun to play and a bit challenging. great job !
I like the idea and I think the puzzles are well designed. but I do think the jump feels off which made it difficult for me to get past the tutorial levels since it requires somewhat precise platforming.
Thanks! I'll keep this in mind when I update after the jam#:D
Cool game, I really liked the concept, pretty unique.
I'd appreciate it if you would play my game.
