Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! A couple of comments:

  • Didn't know there is an itch desktop app. I will look into that issue!
  • I agree this shader is not the best one for water (just basic Perlin noise), unfortunately I didn't have time to implement a better one.
  • The goal was to design a chill game with very simple mechanics that would make you feel like watching a fish pond. I agree it would have been interesting to experiment with other (maybe more complex) mechanics but sadly there was no time for that. Thanks for the suggestions tho!
  • The notes are not random, they change (deterministically) according to the "level" of each tadpole :)

Thanks for the kind words and for the feedback! :)

Thanks a lot!

Very smart use of the theme, really fun and polished game! Congrats on the great work! :D

I'm wondering how did you decide on the duration of the timer. Did you test with longer durations? I was often caught in the middle of a jump and wished that the timer was a little bit longer (maybe my platforming was just a bit too slow? heheh)

Fun and engaging concept! I like how intuitive the game is, no tutorial is needed to understand how to play the game :) Also, the music, sfx, and graphics really make you feel in a TV show! Bonus points for having an actual presenter voice ;)

FYI: not sure if this was a bug, but I couldn't change the resolution from the options menu, so all the UI looked tiny on my screen.

One of my favorite games of this jam, great work!! The atmosphere conveys an eerie feeling of uncertainty, specially thanks to the random events happening as you explore the dungeon (and the on-point sfx of course!). At first I thought the narrow corridors would make it harder to navigate, but it actually helps building a sense of claustrophobia when an enemy is chasing you. I'd love to play an extended version with more variety of evolving enemies and random events :D

Thanks a lot for the kind words! And also for noticing the instrument changes, I wasn't sure at first if it would be noticeable :)

I like the concept of building your own creature and then testing it in battle, good job! :D Also, any head on the turtle body looks so funny hahaha

Good-looking and fun game! It feels good to move around collecting all the upgrades :) I wish the night-day cycles were a bit slower so I had more time to enjoy each upgrade before getting another one. Congrats on the great work!

Very cool concept! I quite enjoyed experimenting with the mechanics, specially trying to control as many slimes as possible at once :) Also, simple but neat graphics, I like the combination of 2D sprites in a 3D world!

Thank you!

Indeed, you have to make the tadpoles play the music for you :)

Thank you for playing!

This was a typo from us: the settings menu should have said "Background noises" instead of "Music". Originally, we had a background music, but it made the game harder since we did not have time to make it go in sync with the beats (the beat frequency increases as you progress in the game, so the music also needs to speed up accordingly). Therefore we decided to remove the background music and only keep the background sounds (running water, bugs, etc.).

Thanks a lot for playing and for the kind words! :D

Indeed the hitbox size was an issue that some players faced during the (short) playtesting we did (too large hitboxes made the game trivial, too small made it too punishing). With more time we could have implemented some adaptive hitbox or a smarter solution, but sadly we only had time to balance the hitbox size. Anyways, glad to hear you had a lot of fun despite this difficulty! :)

Thank you! <3

Thanks, great to hear you enjoyed it! :)

Thanks a lot for the kind words! <3

Thanks, glad you liked the designs! :)

Thank you! Glad you liked it! :D

Thanks! :D

This game kept me laughing from start to finish! I love the dramatic and nonsense narrative, which is perfectly matched by such funny graphics. This tiny world feels alive and with lots of fun things to do, many congrats to the team!! :D

SPOILER: (the best bit is clearly when the wasp gets mad because the card got creased hahaha)

Great to see a fellow creature-simulation game :D I have to admit I spent much more time on this game than I probably should have hahaha

Very polished simulation that makes a really fun and entertaining experience, great job!

Amazing game, very original and polished! I really like how the story captivates you from the beginning (it gave me OneShot vibes for a moment). Congrats on the great work!! :D

Loved the space bar bug/feature hahaha It is fun to keep creating copies of yourself while moving around, it adds a nice extra challenge! Good job! :)

I loved the concept of a two-layer puzzle (1 - fit all pieces in the board; 2 - make sure all tadpoles and frogs are separated). I think allowing the player to "complete" a level however they want (either by solving one of the two layers of the puzzle or just skipping completely) shows very clever game design: a puzzle game that can be as challenging as the player wishes. I also liked the narrative and how the newspaper calls you lazy if you skip a level hahaha
Congrats, amazing game overall! And more levels please! :D

Fun game! I'm really impressed by how smoothly the camera works. It feels great to move around without having to worry about camera movement! I'm a big fan of the low-poly graphics too, so that was a nice bonus :)

Congrats on your first game jam submission! It's fun to play at full speed for an extra challenge :D It would be nice to also be able to slow down (maybe it is possible but I missed the button?)

Fun and creative puzzle game, I really enjoyed it! Very responsive controls too, it felt great to move around and transform/destroy things :)

I found the concept of choosing between buying gear or gaining gold very interesting and fun, it has a lot of potential. Would love to see it expanded into a longer game! And definitely one of the best art styles I've seen in a game jam, amazing work :D

I love the idea of playing sequential minigames within the same playground! Fun game with graphics that kept me smiling (specially the purple evolution, it looks quite funny to me hahah). Great work! :)

FYI sometimes when I ran to the bottom of the arena during the catch minigame, the creature was not able to catch me -- not sure if I was doing something wrong or maybe this was a minor bug?

Fun puzzle game! As someone already said, it requires some strategy to not push the blocks into corners so you can keep rolling them (this made me fail miserably in my first try hehehe). Good job! :)

This was painful... I live with an overweight orange cat and he felt insulted... :') Very fun game tho!! The idea is cool and the visuals are great, congrats!

Thanks, glad you liked it!

Bizarre... but really fun game, well done! :) I liked the small flail for the faster and very satisfying movement. Although I was worried I would die if I decided to make the flail smaller, so maybe a health bar would be useful.

Thanks a lot for the kind words and the feedback!

Thanks a lot! :)

Thank you! I'm happy it kept you engaged! :D You got a pretty good score!

Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully I will expand the game in the future :)

Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it! :D

Really cool idea! I like how exploration is motivated by the destruction of what you explore. And funny that you can burn the firefighters hehehe. Great work!!

Wow truly amazing game!! I love the mechanics, they lead to really fun and clever puzzles. The simple (but very cute) graphics work quite well and give a lot of clarity to the puzzles. Would love to play more levels in the future! :)
