I used plain JavaScript - I don't know how to use any game engines. Game balance is something I had a hard time working on during the jam, so I kind of just guessed at the ideal values and hoped it would be fun. I find that it works out pretty well in the beginning, but as the game goes on the challenge disappears and the gameplay slows down a lot. I'm still not really sure how to tackle that issue, but I'm interested in working on the game a little more to see what I can do with more time. Do you have plans to work on your game further?

This is absolutely brilliant. I love the humor, the visual style, the gameplay... everything is just amazing. The upgrades screen could use a little polish and I think overall it could be tuned to look more like an old Windows exe, like the Instructions pane is. Really good gameplay, but I was a little confused at first by the fact that each line has the bulging animation three times per round - I thought that meant it was attacking me more than once per turn. Overall brilliant game, I am absolutely blown away by the creativity and the quality in this 96-hour jam game!
I am now at round 9 and have been playing nonstop since yesterday.
I love it! This is a really nice take on the web server theme, and I really like the sounds and visuals! It's nice that there's the time in between runs where you can really think about your infrastructure. The game mechanics were mostly pretty clear, but it took me a while to understand that the requests were coming from the top of the screen and not just going to the most likely endpoint. Beat all the levels, and loved every second of it!
This is a really cute idea! I want to make my grandfather proud with my drifting street cred! Couldn't get past the mountain level, this is pretty hard! I feel like the physics are a little off, but I can't quite put my finger on it - it's probably a standard case of Game Jam Physics. Love the game, and adore the story! Very fun and goofy.
Wow, that really caught me off guard! I absolutely love how this game is just curveball after curveball. This is an absolute work of art. The boss fight reminds me a bit of the Cuphead style. I think with some more animations (and maybe some evil music during the boss fight) this could be a really trippy game for first-time players. Love it!
Wow, there's a lot going on here! This has a really impressive depth of game mechanics and features, and I can see that you aren't just making this stuff up - this is the real deal. I felt that I was a little confused at times about how messages were being routed when there was more than one connected node - is it random, round-robin, or something else? All in all I think this is a great game and a great jam submission. And good on you for trying Godot, it must be hard to learn a new engine when you already know a different one so well!
It's a nice idea, I kind of like that there isn't too much going on. It's very peaceful, except for the fire. The instructions were clipped off the edge of the screen, so I wasn't sure how to put it out. Reminds be of those scale animations that compare the sizes of really small things to really big things, like ants to earth to the galaxy. Neat!
Wow, I love this! The gameplay is really well done and the level design is super impressive. Very clever concept too, with a really nice interpretation of the theme! The physics feels a little wonky sometimes, and I don't always know which side of a box I'll end up on when I change its size. It would also be nice to have an indicator that showed how big or small a box could get, and the sounds helped a lot with that. Overall really great game with a really nice and polished aesthetic!
This is really cool, and I love the story behind it! Maybe there could be a little more content, like different types of enemies, tank upgrades, or different kinds of terrain, but I also like that you put in the effort to make it feel polished and non-buggy. I hope your very talented family can continue to make wonderful games like this in the future :)
This game is really nicely made and the user interface is very polished. This here is a real software engineer, folks! I haven't seen many React games in this jam haha. I really like the way the game guides you through all of the levels and introduces real DevOps concepts in each one. The graphs are very nice and make the levels very engaging. Turns out that 96 hours just isn't long enough to recreate modern cloud computing infrastructure, though, and I would love to play more levels of this game and try out some more complicated networks. Excellent submission, impressive accomplishment!
Wow, this is really cool! Very clever core mechanic and nice implementation. The blue outline was a really nice visual que, and I liked that you could see the items flying into the box. The physics were a little funky, but it would be a miracle to have anything else in a game jam! I feel like the character sprite felt out of place, maybe it could be a little goblin pushing things around or something. Overall very fun and very original :)
Super good fit for the theme, clever core mechanic, and really nice implementation. The UI makes it easy to see what's going on and I never felt like I didn't understand the solution to each puzzle after I figured it out. I really like the "vector graphic" style of most of the game, but I feel like the pixelated elements didn't really fit in. Overall really nice game with great level design!
I like it! The controls are a little clunky, but I feel like the game is really well balanced. By just placing buildings intuitively, with no big plan, I was able to assemble a pretty cool network! In the end I lost because I ran out of energy, since I was trying to power my whole city with only four windmills. I think with a snappier user interface and smoother controls it would be a real product. Overall really nice game!
Thank you, I'm glad you liked the presentation! I chose the visual style right at the start and never really gave myself a chance to think about whether I liked it or not, so I'm glad it turned out well. Also, I 100% agree about the sounds - I had to keep the tab muted for the rest of the jam after I added them! I think I have a lot to learn about sound design.
