This is SO COOL. The first I died and all of that happened I was so amazed. Really good job, this game is amazing!
My 150th and last rating for this jam :)
My biggest problem was Escape to see the tutorial didn't work when the game is browser based and full screen, so I wasn't sure what to do, so I played and failed a few times and worked it out.
Also I fired the first fireball ok (and really liked the hold down left mouse to trigger it) but it only seemed to work once even though at the bottom it showed 3 times.
Very interesting idea on collecting items during death, something you could definitely use for a commercial game. Make the most of it!
Played and rated. Super cool and original concept :)
Really enjoyed everything overall, and the death mechanic is very unique and fitting for the theme of this game jam. Great work!
Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game as well: https://hadilepanda.itch.io/rise-of-necromancy
super cool art and idea. battle feels still a little rough around the edges, but the concept of integrating death into the gameloop is already proofing to be interesting.
Nice game. The revival system was interesting,
Really well done! The pick up after you die mechanic was fantastic! Possibly the most innovative one Ive seen yet this Jam! The cloud fade really stood out as well. Great effort!
Nice game, good work! I really like the ghost form mechanic, awesome idea! However, I felt like the attack could be faster, the recoil time is a little long. And/or if attacks would push back the enemies it would make attacking a little better, because right now it is almost guarantied that you get damaged when trying to hit enemies coming right in your direction. But it is true, if you would not get damaged, then there would be no point in the ghost mechanic. I had fun playing your game, congratulations! :)
Thank you for the game. The art is really great and I like the gameplay (apart from that I suck at it and was not able to leave the tutorial ;-) )
That was fun! I really liked the aesthetics of this, and the mechanics were really cool. I found it a little difficult at first but that's probably just me. Really well done!
Such an awesome game for a game jam! Super impressed with the quality of this game! Nice artwork too! Congrats team!
Good take on the theme, I liked that choosing where to die was a thing because of the powerups that you could grab. Graphics and mechanics work well and it even functioned well on a ultrawide with no scaling issues! Well done! This is a top contender for me!
Great job on this one.
Creative, good graphics and Fun Game!! :) It took me a while to realize that you get hurt after a certain amount of time
This gives me Hyper Light Drifter feels, it's great. I like the art style and how responsive your hits are in combat. This has potential!
very cool, as soon you realize where you should die!
Aesthetics were great. Would like to have been able to move and attack at the same time as that's what I naturally tried to do but couldn't. Well done!
Really interesting gameplay, love the art.
As IIPrimy mentioned below only small thing that bothered me is that attacking feels off since you get stuck in the animation for the whole swing duration and that prevented any character movement, but I get used to it pretty fast. Other than that really amazing game.
Really fantastic entry! Lots of fun and high energy.
Usually when I see games with such pretty graphics they fail to deliver on the juice and feel. NOT HERE! you nailed it, it felt great to smack them enemies and the fireball traveled so fast you could really feel the impact. Very fantastic.
Now while the game did feel great the attack speed did feel off at times, it was fast but you would be stuck in it for a while, I think it would be better if the anticipation took up the animation time, then the swing was the interruptible bit at the end. then it would add to the impact rather than feel off. but tbh I adapted to that eventually.
I think there should definitely be more of a clear sign that there is a Damage over time effect on you, It adds alot to the game to have it since it makes you die more often, and the dying mechanic is very interesting and fun! buuut I just thought that the hitboxes were being jank for a while before I realized haha.
Last bit of feedback is a minor nitpick / pace thing. It would be very nice if there was a instant revive button, or if the circle instantly full closed once you got all available pickups while dead. Feels alot of time is wasted standing around waiting for the circle to close after you pick up everything.
Thats my feedback, but let it be clear, your game was fun, beautiful, interesting designs, and had pleasant audio.
Serious congrats on making something so cool!
I love good feedback, thanks a ton!
About the damage over time, good point. we didn't have time to implement more visuals for it, therefore it's very unclear for first timers and seem like a bug, we planned to have flickering heart or last heart becomes poisonous.
Your last nitpick is our nitpick as well, we discoved it quite early that you need to just wait quite often, but we didn't prioritise that.
Thank you very much for feedback!
The fireball felt really good, and i really like the death mechanic.
