Solid foundations, the gameplay is satisfying. I think adding some variety in the ennemies and increasing the difficulty over time would make it even more entertaining.

Solid jam entry, nice work! Absolutely love the main robot character<3
Some feedback; I would've liked the upgrade system to popup during gameplay and not be found in the main menu. At first I played without upgrades which felt kind of interesting with having to click each row of enemy and optimize that. As soon as I found the upgrades I quickly became overpowered.
Keeping progress tied with currency for upgrades is in some level interesting, but I would seperate the two as you probably never want upgrading your abilities to feel bad.
I would try increasing the speed of the bullets and the enemies by like 3x, would make it much more intense.
I hope I don't come off as harsh, great job on finishing a game!
I love the robot dude and the evil fish, really cool animations for them. A nice little game and keep going!!! Edit: I played through some more and just discovered I can move up and down! Cool!
Nice work, really engaging! It would be nice to add more different monsters, to vary the experience a bit. The SFX for the shot is pretty cool, but since the player has to shoot continuously it becomes quite annoying after a while. You could automate the pitch or create different versions of the SFX with slight differences and randomize which sounds must play.
Congrats on your first jam submission! Also, thanks for the stream the other day.
Here's some of the things I really liked about the game:
- Moving while shooting/being able to move around generally
- Having an upgrade system with some variety to choose from
- The animations on the enemies were cool (blinking and boosters)
- All the core pieces were there (SFX, music, art and mechanics) which gave it a finished feel
I think these small enhancements are worth considering:
- A custom reticle for the mouse cursor
- Maybe separating the upgrades purchase from the win condition, and having the upgrade window automatically appear and pause giving you choices
- Varying the pitch of the shooting sound
It was a fun and solid submission, nice work!
Nice little game! I got so powerful after a while those dudes never saw me coming. Good job and keep up the good work!
Congrats for submitting your very first game!
I discovered the upgrade menu at the very end! My bad: you wrote it on the itch page.
I like the fact that you can move to get different angles from where you can shoot.
Good job!
- ESC is used by the web player to cancel fullscreen. So avoid using it for the menu, use something like P instead. Currently you can only open the menu if you go out of fullscreen.
- Was hard to know if the upgrades were working because the UI doesn't show cost and your points don't update reflect what you just spent until you close the menu. That's a common symptom of the not letting the UI widget update while the game is paused. You have to set Process -> Mode to "Always" on the Control that handles and shows the points
- Probably the quickest way to improve your gameplay would be to make the enemy spawns get faster over time. Just keep track of time since the game started and use that to determine how many/how fast to spawn enemies. Right now your game starts hard then gets very easy quickly. It should be the other way around.
- I didn't know I could move with WASD until the very end. Maybe that's just me being dumb lol But I'd add that to your itch page anyway just to let people know.
Nice game. I was clicking like mad to clear out the enemies. How do you upgrade though? It wasn't clear to me how to improve my abilities as some extra fire-rate would have been awesome. Managed to get about 100 points or thereabouts before I got overwhelmed! I liked the sound effects you used and even though they are simple they are still better than most games I've played in the jam. I had a lot of fun with this and played it more than once, which is how you know you're on to something good. Nice work and well done.
Hey, I remember this cute robot guy from the art channel in the Discord--thanks for the fun submission! Projectile Count 11 is so OP haha :) Player abilities scale quickly and trivialize the enemies, so if there's something to work on next, I'd suggest ramping up enemy difficulty as the player unlocks upgrades.
