The bosses are fun and the theme is very well implemented, idk how much art was created by AI but the art style is really great.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Also only the intro, vs screen and outro art was Ai generated. We did also edit that ai art to fit the artstyle of our game better

Effective way of using the theme and impressive job completing what feels like a very polished game with days to spare before the jam ended.

Developer

Ey thanks mate!

Man I'll be honest, this is my favorite game from the jam so far, you did great, good job!!!

Developer

I feel very similarly towards your project. I had to stop myself playing it when I was trying to get through games to rate, really good job <3

Reads even better the second time <3

I like the way you mix up the genre between the bosses, and the artstyle is really cool. I especially liked the single outline on the first boss. The story/cutscene is really nice too.

Developer

I loved your game props man! And I really apricate you playing ours.

Really good entry!  :) Just for the controller buttons just also make (x or square for a playstation controller) also the attack button. I know its meant to be gameboy inspired but the b for attack on the controller can be a bit uncomfortable! But otherwise perfect entry

Very good game with your own style. Love it!

Lots of fun. Coherent art, music, and sound work. Enjoyed how each boss had different mechanics fort the player. Also great work with the theme!

Your gravity mechanic was one of my favourites!
Thank you for the comment

This is a great entry! The boss fights had great variety, the theme was well incorporated, and the quality of life options were great. Nice work!

Really cool art style and the gameplay has lots of fun. I also enjoyed the story you made for it, added a lot to the game!

Submitted(+1)

That was amazing. I love the art style you picked, that old school CRT feel is great. The bosses are entertaining and quite different thanks to the exchange mechanic, a great implementation of the theme, great work!

I really enjoyed playing your game, especially your interpretation of "Exchange." The music added a great touch, and the visuals were quite captivating.

When it comes to the bosses:

  • The Frog: I found it pretty cool, and most of the attacks were easy to anticipate. Although, the ground slam got a bit annoying, especially since I played on the hardest difficulty.
  • The Falcon: Comparatively easier than the Frog, but still an enjoyable boss fight.
  • The Dragon: Without a doubt, the highlight of the game. The engagement level was top-notch.

In summary, the game was a lot of fun and truly enjoyable

I like the monochromatic artwork. I think you did well with the pixel art (and I don't mean the opening art). Nice amount of content for a game jam. Three bosses is a good balance for a submission, I feel. I really like your use of the theme. Both for the gameplay as well as the story. The switching between different gameplay styles for each boss fight is also very nice.

The dragon was the coolest fight. The diversity in attacks made it quite fun. Few small gripes: the claw attack had a quick build up (for someone who's going to only play the boss maybe 1-3 times), inability to damage the dragon when they're on the side is unsatisfying (perhaps their tail could have persisted above), on occasion the dragon would spam the side attack (exacerbating the previous complaint). However, those are just small issues and overall it was quite fun.

One nitpick might be: the cursor didn't have to be visible (I think). Was kinda annoying to have on screen. Having difficulty options as well as boss skip options is a very nice feature in a game jam submission.

Overall, a very clean entry.

PS Hopping as the frog was unreasonably entertaining, though.

I really like the tail idea, and I agree that the downtime where you can't hit the boss feels cheaply done and unsatisfying.
