Game Design and Audio is good
Looks well-polished already. I was also going to say we should be able to hold click to mine but it seems you already mentioned you will add it later :) Maybe a bit more feedback also with the cursor and / or the mining animation ( as we could dig in our back with the movement on the other side , but that's just details :) )
Nice game! I loved the humour, and the graphics were beautiful. It's good to hear you're adding a hold to mine thing as well. A couple other improvements you could make: it's possible to mine the floor of the merchants shop, the air jordans actually decrease your jump height(might have been intentional but its pretty annoying), and also i feel like the game could either be shorter or more clear as to how the whole merchant thing is going to work. That stuff is pretty minor tho and i still played for a good 40 minutes or so. Very engaging and fun game, nice work :)
Thanks for the feedback, I never heard the merchant part before, I will make sure to add indicators to where the merchants are across the map if that's what you mean :)
Nice I think thatll make a big difference to the players' first impression of the game
wonderful little time, i would die for bob. i felt so bad breaking the squid merchants' floors for money, and i guess it makes sense that you can't really buy from them after you do that
Wow! Great job. Bright picture and nice graphics)
Having to constantly click was rather annoying a hold to mine would have been a nice addition, also found it hard to tell if clicking actually did anything at the start as there's no affect when mining blocks. Overall a nice mining game tho.
I hope I could hold to autoclick... Overall, a nice mining game. Not my type, but I liked it
Being able to hold the mouse button instead of clicking repeatedly would have been very helpful. I found a shop, but never managed to make even 100g, so I didn't see a way to pay the high prices that creepy dude was asking.
Thanks for playing, chests are a very important part of the game, you can find chests around the map commonly and they will provide you with the high prices the merchant asks for. The most amount of G you can find in a chest is 10,000. Not sure how you didn't find one
My poor hand! An option to hold the key/click and just repeat the action would go a long way to improving the experience here. I had to learn that while testing my own game.
The visuals where nicely put together and the miner is cute. I enjoy mining games in general and I had fun with this one. Excellent job for putting it together in 3-4 days!
Thanks, i agree with the hold to mine aspect and will definitely have to implement it after the jam.
neat little mining game :)
Idk why but the jump didn't let me go over even 1 block no matter how long I pressed it so I couldn't really do anything, seems cool though.
it works for me on the binary and webgl, idk what's wrong with your game :/
You can also hit W to jump, have you tried that?
Edit: It seems like you can't jump if you hit W while walking to the left, idk why
Fun and relaxing game with a satisfying upgrade mechanic, I like it! Reminded me a bit of Steam World Dig which is one of my favourite games. :D
I think some extra feedback when breaking blocks would have been very nice, especially some indication how close you are to breaking it. I also locked myself out of the first shopkeeper on my first try as I broke the blocks underneath him. On my second run I made it all the way to the bottom tough!
Thanks for playing, I was gonna make the blocks underneath the merchants unbreakable but it didn't work for some reason. Idk, just last minute code :/
Haha, I know the feeling. :p
I think it wouldn’t have been an issue if you weren’t able to accidently break the blocks while being in the shop tough. One tip I can give for the future: in most engines you can make UI Elements stop the mouse so it’s impossible to click things underneath them. Otherwise, if you’d used an Input Action system you could have simply disabled the mining input while inside the shop.
Well, I'm always getting the block the mouse is hovering over, which is kinda inefficient.
It's only when the game encounters a mouse click that it starts to damage the block, it's coded in such a way that no UI elements can stop it D:
If i continue development after the jam I'll fix all these issues and hopefully make the code more efficient, thanks for the tips though!
Overall, the game is really nice. I like the way shopkeepers look and the progression is well balanced. I had a few problems though. The ores aren't really well visible. I missed them the first time. You can also break blocks when shopping which may softlock you. I also had a problem with the joggers. They make you jump lower than 2 blocks and that's really a bummer. Also adding some break animation for the blocks could help a lot with the player feedback. Stuff like this is really important for clicker games like this. Still, really enjoyed the final product.
You're right, I had all these in mind while play testing but unfortunately didn't have time to fix them.
The jordans in the code add to your jump height variable, but since in godot engine minus is up, the jordans just decreased your height, I made them in a rush so they didn't turn out well :/
Thanks for the feedback anyway!
I Could Not Read The Text That Appeard When I Started The Game, It Goes A Way Too Fast...
Sorry about that, basically, it explains that you play as a miner named bob, who goes to an infamous cave called spectral cave.
I should put this in the game's description aswell.
Really nice ! A bit slow at first but overall quite relaxing and enjoyable (bonus points for mining with the R key, saved my right index from tendonitis!)
Thanks for playing, I thought your game was cool too.
Assets are cute. Mining can done by just using mouse click, I don't need to be near to the block. Market mechanic is good too. Good job!
Can you try and rate my game ?
Thanks for the comment, but you do have to be near blocks to mine them.
You have a range of 2 blocks which you can upgrade later on.
Great game. I found the emerald shop keeper dialog to be very funny. The game has a lot of charm. My feedback: the game seemed a little slow and tedious, especially at the beginning. But again, it was still quite enjoyable.
Thanks for playing. I agree it is slow but it speeds up exponentially from there
Cool game, the movement feels great and progressing is satisfying. Well done!
Thanks for playing!
Really good entry here! Fun mechanics that create a satisfying loop of upgrading and exploring. I liked the art style as well. While I do wish there was a hold mouse button instead of click option I did play Runescape so this worked for me!
super cool mining game that is similar to what i submitted! the procedural generation really added a lot and made it fun to play. one minor thing i thought was annoying was that i couldnt seem to jump up blocks. i know the theme is going deeper but one instance was i mined myself into a hole underneath the shopkeeper and i couldnt interact with him anymore and had to go find another. otherwise great entry i really enjoyed!
Thanks for playing, you can jump up blocks, but you don't tap the spacebar once, you have to hold it for varying jump heights.
