How does your game fit the theme?
It's a game made using Unity without NSFW or discriminatory/offensive content. It's a plateformer / puzzle game where you can find resources to make money to equip yourself to go deeper and deeper in the abyss. But if you go too deep without equipment, you might go crazy ! Find the right way to win

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
100% of the code is from scratch. Somes assets and models are from the Unity store and all authors have been credited.

great grindy game! so fun to play

Awesome grindy game! Although I will say the audio can be loud at times, and it doesn't specify some things like what the blue capsules do.

Seems like you're starting out in gamedev. An impressive completed project within just a week.

Something to consider for you next gamejam project that will make the experience a bit smoother.

- Add a way to quit the game :D

- I often didn't understand why I died while going lower and lower. Something to indicate what the player did wrong could go a long way.

A well functioning project none the less. Congratulations!

After playing for a solid 30 minutes, I can safely conclude that this game is not "nothing". In fact, there is a lot of really cool stuff happening here, especially considering that this is your first completed project. This is a really stellar accomplishment keeping that in mind. Working progression system, both 3D and 2D environments with functioning controls. I am honestly very excited to see where your game dev journey takes you if this is your first complete project :O

The notes I would give:

  • Progression feels a tad slow
  • Controls are only introduced after you use them to speak to the first NPC, worthwhile to consider teaching the player the interact key in a different fashion
  • Collisions with platforms are a bit clunky and could use some ironing out; try allowing the player a grace period with jumping off the edge of platforms and making collisions a tad less harsh perhaps

Overall very VERY solid first-ever game jam entry. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

There is just nothing. A level made of ready made low-poly assets and that's it.

All of your comments so far since the creation of your account is pure wickedness, for no reason.

We had 1 week to create this entire project and we all did the best we could. On the first day, I didn't even know how to make scripts works with a Gameobject. I improved a lot and many things I did on day 1 probably wouldn't be the same if it had been done on day 5 or 6.

I don't think that having 2 different worlds with a 3D / 2D mix, multiple hand-made objects, a functional moving system in different type of world, ennemies, damage and kill ennemies, lore, a goal, a winning screen, a losing screen, animations, animations controllers, animation events, shaders, visual scripting, music, sounds etc. means nothing.

This is my first ever project with a Start, a Goal, and an End that can be reach. We even included lore and lots of new system we decided to learn only for this project.

Hopefully, many people tried the game and made some great comment that will help us improve our way to code and create games. While you will keep being useless.

Have a great day and I hope you'll cure yourself from all this hate. ❤️

None of what you have mentioned is any complex, or well made. The "Lore" is just a few boring and generic texts. You said that there is ending, but how can you call that wall where player falls outside map and dies an "ending"!? According to lore nobody could go up, that is not believable according to map at all. It is impossible to go up simply because a platform is a little bit higher than player can jump. Also, the lowres textures are horrible for eyes.  No, I don't hate you, it's just your game is trash and I rate it according to that.

Developer(+1)

You're half right and half wrong.
Yes, the lore is just a few "boring" texts (I can't tell generic because I wrote them myself without any inspiration or whatever). Yes, I guess what we've done is not very complex and can be done by lots of developers.

If you think we are "falling" outside the map it's completely wrong. And it's not at all the ending. That proves you don't even understand or interacts with the PNJs in the start. You are judging games when you can't even see you have to interact with a PNJ that is making hand signs to you. Kinda cringe.

It's the last time I'll answer to you. The reality is : you are judging the game as we had 1 month to do it with a pro team. Which is wrong. We were 5, most of the team member weren't available all week. Most of us were working this week. 3 members out of those 5 people never used Unity and in those 3 team member, 2 were complete beginners.

Maybe the project doesn't fit your expactations.  Well, video game is art so it's kinda subjective. But don't forget we are still beginners and we tried to do the best we could in under "1 week".

Please get some help.

XOXO ❤️

Generally, I would just not respond to those kinds of comments. They're not really looking to have a reasoned conversation...

I click download because I see low poly floppa... Well I didn't read the description at first and it's actually a cool game. But I can't seem to progress further and got soft-locked on one of the level.

Developer

Hi, thanks for downloading and trying the game !

Actually, there is some level design problems that we couldn't fix before the end. I'm sorry if you encounter one of this bug / problem :(.

To be honest, I uploaded the game at around 6 a.m. after a 15-hour work day and didn't have time to make a proper presentation for it.

The whole team loved the project and its creation. So I think one day it'll be release as a full game.

Thanks for your comment ❤️

Very good sounds. I like 3d village, it's really cool :)

Was confused a bit by 2D Abyss. Personally, I'd make the abyss world also in 3D, but put camera from the side -> platformer with 3D models.

Overall, good game!

The game did not feel very cohesive and the progression was not very smooth. There aren't many places to go in the abyss, left has a small bit of treasure and right is just instant death. I like the ideas here, but it needs to either be polished up a bit more or have some more instructions. Great attempt!

Fun how the overworld is in 3D and the abyss in 2D. Found a crazy stash of ores but then an enemy cornered me haha.

Game looks a bit like what i and my team created! Also have to go in a well and get supplies for the surface.

Submitted(+1)

Very interesting idea for a game, but the value of the ores was so low, I was never able to get upgrades to go further down :(

Interesting concept, definetly see some Made In Abyss themes here, which i love! The controls feel a bit clunky and the audio is just a tad bit too loud. Good work!

Developer(+1)

Hi !

Made In Abyss was a great reference for us. We tried very hard to have the best input possible and to smoothly switch between 3D and 2D. Also first time I'm using Unity InputSystem/Character controller fully so it's not perfect.

We will look forward to make it even better !

Thanks for your comment

The switch between the 3D and 2D scene is really nice . Also great with the characters. I got baited by the many crystals at the beginning. A suggestion would be to put in a "interactable pop-up" and the music in the abyss is a bit too loud for me. The sound effects from other games are funny :)

Developer

With hindsight we could have add some elements that can help player to understand what he can/can't interact with. We definitely enjoyed creating this game and we will look forward to make it even better. We struggled to do everything we wanted to do be we are still proud of the project overall.

Not a bad entry. Probably the only complaint is that you can't interact with a gamepad.

Having the game page even without screenshots is probably not a good idea but if there's a thing I would want to say, it's

Due to the lack of time, we couldn't precise the controller button to interact which is the "West Button" (X for Xbox controller) and (Square for PS4/PS5).

This is our first gamejam and my really first Unity project so next time will be better !

Thanks for your comment and we will update the game page soon.
