How does your game fit the theme?
I don't just ask the question What's behind the door? But also, Where's the Door?

I took the idea of going through a door, and first made you have to find the door to go through. I was also inspired by the idea of the theme being a question.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code myself.

I used assets from the following creators:

Art from Tiny Adventure Pack - Vryell https://vryell.itch.io/tiny-adventure-pack
Music composed by Bert Cole https://bitbybitsound.com/
SFX are from the 8 Bit Sound Pack - https://danereid1024.itch.io/8-bit-sound-pack

Fantastic game design and introducing of new gameplay elements in each room :) The puzzle were increasingly challenging and fun to figure out! Very polished and well done! :D

Thanks a lot! I tried to make the escalation smooth. Glad to hear it worked.

Great game! Having to move doors is a nice idea! like it!

recommendation: I would liked to have more complex levels as lvl 11 & 12

other than that well done!

This is a great game. I love puzzle games and pixel art; this has both! Great sound, graphics and mechanics. My only issue is sometimes I try to go too fast and lining the character up with the bridges is rough and I fall into the pit haha

This is nice! I really enjoyed it! The concept is great, it perfectly fits the theme. Visuals and sound are amazing as well. Good job!

Really strong entry for the jam! Polished art usage, great music, solid mechanics and controls. Wish the puzzles were a *tiny* bit more difficult - Levels 11 and 12 were just right (but I'm also a huge puzzle lover). Awesome work!

Developer

I agree. I intentionally made the levels simple for the jam. I'm gonna ramp up the difficulty when I add a few more levels.

Really solid puzzle game and a great jam entry! I liked the art a lot and the music reminds me of super mario rpg. I think the game is too easy, I don't think I had to use my brain for anything until maybe level 11 and still the last 2 levels are really just larger, but don't require a ton of thought. Not being able to change direction without moving in that direction was a little frustrating at times. The controls felt a bit clunky sometimes, especially when the player controls were disabled during the bridge construction/destruction. Not trying to be rude or downplay the great work you did in this jam, I think it's a really good submission!

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, for the jam I was intentionally keeping the puzzles easy so people wouldn't have to spend too long playing. There are a lot of games to play.

And I've heard the movement is bugging people. I did it as a tile movement behaviour, but the levels don't really look tile movement-y, so it feels clunky. I'm gonna update that as soon as the jam is over.

Thanks for the helpfully feedback. And no worries. It didn't feel rude at all.

Good luck with the jam!

Overall, really good execution. I thought your level design and introduction of new mechanics was evenly paced and well thought through.

The only criticism I have is the player movement as it can feel a bit unresponsive at times. I think in a game where the puzzles are solved by navigating the level, movement is a very crucial aspect of the game. The player is then also punished for incorrect movements when falling into pits. I agree with your previous comments that the grid/tile based movement system isn’t very apparent from the floor design and maybe making this a bit more implicit would improve things.

With that being said, I though everything else worked perfectly and I thought the combination of art and sound design gave the game a great atmosphere and I hope you continue with this project in the future. Well done!

This was amazing! Love the twist of having to find the doors in order to progress, really innovative!

One of the best things about the game is how you progressively introduced mechanics to the game so that the player can understand them. It's so much better than simply giving the player a list of rules and things you can do at the start of the level, cause you usually forget them. Here by the point you get to the later levels, you already know everything because you've already used it not because you told us. That's great puzzle design!

Apart from that, I feel like the mechanics themselves were well put together. It's nothing out of the ordinary, with levers and buttons, etc, but you blended them together well and the puzzles feel coherent, not just a bunch of mechanics thrown together.

The art design is super cool! I love it! Don't know if you did them or not, but still, the level layouts were well put together too. The music and SFX also helped!

Overall I had a lot of fun. Not gonna lie, I did find the puzzles a little to easy, so if you decide to go further I'd like to see more challenging ones!!!

Congrats!

Thanks for the super positive feedback.

As for puzzle design, I left it easy since it’s for a jam with so many games. I didn’t want to discourage people from playing the whole game. When the jam is over I think I’m gonna add some “hard levels” at the end as an optional challenge.

Thanks again!

Good luck with the jam.

Really well made, you've done a great job of introducing the mechanics gradually. I would say there's maybe a bit more space in the later levels than there needs to be, the fun of a puzzle game is figuring out the solution but the payoff feels like satisfying the longer it takes to execute after you've already figured it out.

Wow, it's a good game, the idea is awesome, the puzzles/levels are cool, the graphics are nice, the sounds are good, I really liked it!!!

Very polished game! The mechanics were simple but satisfying and the level design was well thought out. Well done!

What a nice puzzle game, very polished!

Nice one! Simple, but a well-thought-out game!

Cool idea and mechanics! Cozy sound and visual!

Great work! I like the mechanics, the only downside is movement responsiveness. I understand that it's tile-based, but it would be nice to have ability to turn-around in the middle of animation. And I fell into the pits a lot in a dumb ways, so I'd prefer if I was not able to move into them.

Puzzles are more on the easier side, which, I guess, is perfect for a jam (personally, I'd prefer to have more complex levels and interactions, but it's just me :D)

Very enjoyable game! Simple and smart! The only thing I don't like about these games is death in the pit. I often died in the pit because... I didn't feel the responsiveness of the controls. But despite this, this is a great game! I would love to rack my brains at high difficulty levels in a game like this.
