How does your game fit the theme?
My game has a calm phase and a chaotic phase. Could not achieve much in the calm phase in the game jam since this is my first one

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Wrote all the code from scratch

I can see what you were going for, but I would've like it to ramp up a little more, instead of throwing you into the deep end right off the bat. But otherwise nice. The controls felt smooth.

Developer(+1)

Yes that makes sense, I did not spend any time on thoughtful placement of enemies, I also wanted to keep spawning slime around the player but couldnt do that in time.

Thanks for your time and feedback!

Great art style. Didn't hear audio? The controls were very smooth. Great mechanic where the mouse cursor protects vs the fireballs. Nice entry!

Developer

Didnt spend any time on audio, will plan for it in the future.

Thanks for your time and feedback!

very smooth animations with some fun and simple gameplay, cool stuff

Submitted

Hee-ho. Cute art. Good game

Developer

Thanks for your time.
Your game is amazing :)

The combat was smooth, would like to see more

Developer

Thanks for your time, I would love to do more on this and other ideas!

Submitted

The combat worked quite well, felt like attacks really connected. I think I must have beat everyone back because the enemies stop spawning at some point.

There were  a couple spots where the character would collide into something invisible, but generally the movement was nice.  Congrats on your first release!

Developer

Thanks for your time and feedback!

There is no end screen since I didn't have time to make it, there are no automatically spawning enemies at the moment.

I have noticed some collider issues too, will fix them later.

The art is wonderful! It is fun. The mouse input is duplicated. But it is nice

Developer

Thanks for your time and feedback!

I did take a lot of time on what sprites I wanted to use, but I cant take credit for the art.

By mouse duplication, do you mean the mouse pointer and the game pointer or something else?

Submitted

Thanks, What I meant was that mouse input would overlap lol

The combat is smooth! Nice work for your first game jam

Developer

Thank you for your time!

You have a nice game too!

Submitted

The combat is fun. The beginning is tough though since you immediately fight 2 enemies.

Good work.

Developer

Yes I agree not a great decision, that was just for me iterating through multiple options, didnt have much time for thoughtful enemy placement, its just random for now.
Thanks for your time and feedback!

I liked the slashing sword and combat is solid! there are some issues with the environment and collisions but considering this is your first game jam game its pretty impressive!

Developer

Thanks for your time and feedback!

I spent a lot of time on working with tilesets, collisions and y sort, compared to the core of the game, fortunately could cut scope and submit a working combat system. Hopefully will be faster next time around :)

For your first game it's well done made, I'm sure you learned a lot already from making this game being in a jam!

Definitely learn more and experience a bit and you achieve big. Good game for sure.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your time and kind words.
Looking forward to more game jams and improving my craft :)

The game was super fun!! Nice work :)

Developer

Thanks for your time and feedback :)

A simple game, but still interesting. Only I think it doesn't really fit the theme. It's not the calm before the storm, it's the storm itself. But I enjoyed running around shooting everyone.

At one certain point, all the enemies died and no new ones appeared and I was running around on an empty map. And I didn't understand if it was a bug or if it was supposed to be like that.

And also I didn't hear any audio

Developer

Hi, thanks for your time and feedback!
Its true: I wanted a calm phase where the goblins are your friends and you talk to them for advantages in the storm phase, I realized I wont be able to do that so I thought maybe I can just give difficulty sliders before starting the game, but a dialog system was also out of scope within Jam submission, so currently the only calm element is really the main menu.
I made the main menu and a pause menu but couldnt fit in the game end menu in time (Menus were all done in the last few hours)

These are all points I can improve on on the next game jams.

Nice game play

green slimes are scary, but loved the art and gameplay!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for your time and feedback :)
Green slimes do stick to you and melt you, which should be balanced, I tried bouncing back the player but it was kind of annoying so I removed that.

Submitted

I died so many times T_T But it was very fun!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your time :)
Plan to balance it with some more time

I checked out your game too, it was very nice!

I like how your character can walk and water. Also, you probably don’t want all your previous inputs ever queued. I couldn’t tell when the calm part was though.

Developer

I had planned basic dialogs which provide some customizations such as abilities and difficulty tweaking but couldnt make it within submission, planning to add some polish to this game..

And yes I agree, I am planning to cap the queue at 2 or 4 inputs.

Thanks for your time and feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Extra points from me cause you made me feel like Jesus, by walking on water! :))

Developer

Thanks for your time and feedback!

I really wanted to put footstep effect in the water so walking on it felt more majestic but unfortunately couldnt make it by submission.

Submitted

Looks good, and plays decent.  I wouldn't place 3 enemies so close to the spawn point and a little bug I found was when I click my mouse button really fast for like like 50 times all those attacks got in a queue and the knight would keep shooting until all those 50 attacks fired over time.  And it needs audio! :P  But for your first game done all by yourself it's really nice, great job!

Developer(+1)

I made an animation queue since there were 2 attack animations in a combo, but spamming results in a long wait time which could work but is kind of annoying. I am planning to cap the queue at 4 or maybe even 2.

Time management was kind of poor on my side where i focused too much on polish before even introducing enemies, couldnt make time for audio, dialog, or interesting enemy placement or balancing. But I am very happy I made a decently working prototype.

Thanks for your time and feedback.

Submitted

for a first game on godot, its pretty decent. could do with some audio and a progression though

Developer(+1)

There was more in scope, but that couldnt make the cut for submission.

Thanks for your time and feedback
