Nice idea and vibe, well done :) some tough jumps in the last section, could use a checkpoint maybe, and/or jump buffer mechanics if not already done ? Good job !

Developer

The challenge was a part of it with this one! Next time I'm in a jam I'll aim to make something easier.  Jump buffer is something I don't know how to make yet because I'm new to game dev, but I'll certainly look into it. Thanks for playing!

  • Nice idea. I like the mechanic of being pushed by the wind.
  • Some text disappeared before I could read it fully.
  • The ferry is good too, but ddid’t like the screen shaking around like that.
  • Liked the climbing hint, but the climbing itself was hard.
  • Sound effect on dying would be good.
  • Got stuck on the ferry. Just after the cannonball hit and I try to climb the rope, somewhere around here it resets to the start of the ferry. I was away from the spikes to the left, but dunno if I died somehow.
Good game overall. Well done!

On the ferry you might have been hit by the rising water. It's sinking to give a taste of the challenge of the third level, which is a huge difficulty spike due to inadequate time management on my part.
The climbing mechanic is something that seems to have come up a lot, I should probably have made it more intuitive. Death sound barely crossed my mind, especially since the game just reloads the level entirely which would stop sounds from playing so would need to do some global variable shenanigans, but I digress.
The ferry also has a little spike pit to the left of the dresser by the cannonball trigger.
In future I'll make text last a little longer.
Thanks for playing!

I really enjoyed the game and thought you had a neat idea for a platformer. The camera shake on movement was a little bit jarring though and I found myself getting motion sickness after playing for awhile, other than that it was a really cool idea and I loved how you had the little hints where you thought people might get stuck at! Really well thought out and implemented great job :)

Developer

Thanks! Being honest the boat level probably was a bit much movement. I did the horizontal camera movement myself to make it in front of where the player is walking instead of behind so that they could see where they are going. Turning fast jitters a bit in that scenario.

Super unique! Love this. "A leap of faith"
I think climbing could be more user-friendly. Thats my only note. I think its all mostly challenging where it needs to be.

Developer

Climbing was kind of annoying to code which led to it just being "jump midair while in contact with rope". My apologies, and thanks for playing!

it's cool how you used wind as one of the main mechanics for your game to push the player. But i feel like it can be pretty unforgiving at times. There were a few times where the wind would push me into spikes without notice. But aside from that this was a pretty solid entry :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yeah this wasn't exactly a forgiving game. I originally wanted to have 2 more levels between the boat and the final, which is why there is such a huge difficulty spike there. Thanks!

Very nice design, the game get really unforgiving later on, but overall great entry. Those 225 deaths were worth it!

Developer

Thanks for playing the whole thing!

A nice game, the last level looks like those games of climbing that you lost everything when you fall. Extreme difficult

You got there in 2305.1 seconds!

However, you perished 159 times!

Developer(+1)

I originally intended to have 5 levels to curve the difficulty more smoothly but the time got kind of iffy so I decided to not make 2 of them and just make sure the levels I already had were good.  Both of them were meant to be between the boat and the final. Thanks for playing through the whole thing! It makes me happy to know my game is fun enough to keep players long enough to finish.

the boat section was pretty cool, i liked the movement of the entire thing and the water level idea. only complaint is that the movement was pretty touchy, and the strong wind especially at the end levels made the gameplay a little frustrating. if its that difficult, maybe include some load points as well, rather than having to restart the entire level, or just make the levels smaller. im sure you know but my main advice would be to try to hone in on the aspects of your game that you want to bring out, and try to scope a little  smaller so you can do it really well. honestly just taming the wind in those later levels would make the gameplay like 50% better lol. thanks for entering!

Decently enjoyable platformer that manages to have a lot of fun with the wind concept. Several unique levels and mechanics make it engaging for a while. Just polish the controls a bit!

Submitted(+1)

Not a lot of calm before the storm here, but overall a solid basis for a platformer. Could be improved with some basic animations and more sfx. And probably a more intuitive climbing mechanic lol. Good work here

Liked this! The atmosphere is nice, the wind sounds really help it. I did have trouble figuring out how to climb the rope and then I had some trouble timing the jump to climb it, but I appreciated the hints.

Not bad at all! The idea is pretty creative. The movement does feel a bit uneven, especially the way that the wind hardly affects you on the ground but pushes you like nobody's business in the air.

Developer

Thanks! I did go a bit crazy with the acceleration while in the air... And also intended to do a bit more content, there were meant to be 2 more levels between the ferry and the final challenge to ease the difficulty but I couldn't fit those in the game in this week. I spent way too long on that boat...
