Great concept!
Thanks!
Think this game as a lot of potential, the grappling hook mechanic works really well, and it's a good challenge. I would maybe make it more explicit in-game as to what the deal is with the cameras as that's not so clear, but all in all good work. :) Check my submission too if you get a chance. Cheers.
Thanks! :) Yeah, for the next version, I think I'll make a separate tutorial which introduces the cameras properly. Right now, it's just a popup once you arrive at the museum. I'll check out your submission as well!
Really good idea for the theme :)
Thanks! :)
I think it's a great concept and with a little polish it could be even more fun! I wasn't able to get how I was able to see the guards position using the cameras, is it the lights? But that wouldn't make sense as I'm already seeing the guards walk around. I liked the grappling hook a lot, it was fun to use! However the hole gun wasn't bad, but using middle mouse isn't generally a very great way to control something. Lots of mice have either broken or very heavy middle mouse buttons (from personal experience), and especially when you do it in the WebGL browser build it goes into 'scroll mode', but thats just a little tip! The thing that confused me the most was that I fell unconscious every time I lowered into a floor. Thinking back, was I supposed to use the grapple to get down? Because I didn't find that very intuitive. It made me die a lot :P Other than that, when the guards would move a little slower I think it'd be a really cool concept. Good job on the entry!
Thanks for playing, and for the feedback - I think you are right, some more polish would be great. This rating session is basically the first player testing of this game, so any feedback is highly appreciated! I'll incorporate it into the next update.
The cameras work as follows: You can see guards in any room with a camera, but when you are in a room with a camera, that camera will detect your presence as well: If you stay longer than 12 seconds in a room with a camera, the alarm will be triggered. If you destroy the camera, you won't be able to see the guards in this room any more (when you are in a different room), but you can stay there as long as no guard arrives, since there is no camera anymore which could trigger the alarm.
The lights are a somehow different mechanic - only the room where you are currently in is lit. In my original concept, I wanted to create a flashlight-like cone in front of the player, but I wasn't able to finish that one in time. (The light cone went through doors and walls, which just didn't feel right. I'll have to spend some more time on this).
Regarding the middle mouse button - yeah, you are totally right there; that will change as well with the next update. Thanks for mentioning it!
PS: Using the grappling hook to get to a floor below you is generally a good idea :)
Great to hear all that, good luck man!
Thanks!
I like the tools you're giving the player but yea, I feel like this needed a little more tuning. Good ideas all around though!
Thank you for playing, and for the feedback. In which ways do you think more tuning is required?
very cool game. I love the grappling rope!! I wish there was some music and more sounds. The alarm scared me hahaha. Very nice!!
Thanks! :) Yeah, adding some music and more sounds is definitely on my todo list!
Simple but interesting concept, gotta test this out with better time. But so far being a robber with ability to dissolve walls seems a very interesting starting point :D
Thank you for playing! :)
Nice innovative Game about Holes, great work :) i found it really challenging
Thanks for playing, glad you liked it! :)
Geat game. Game design is very good. I had a lot of fun with the grapple :) Good job !
Thank you! :)
Awesome concept but really needs some more SFX and music!
Thanks!
Yeah, you are right...some background music and more sound effects would indeed be quite useful for this game.
Cool. Both fun and funny :-) The wall destroying and grappling hook work very well together. I had a few problems, but they've all been discussed in other comments. Nice work. Great for a week :-)
Thank you! :)
Nice innovative game with use of physics! Reminds me some kind of action movies like Mission Impossible or Ocean Eleven! :)
Thanks for playing :)
Nice concept. The fact that you can basically remove walls for sometime is just awesome. Please check out my game as well when you have time.
Thanks! Sure, I'll check out your game as well!
Nice game design! There is a bug with the graple hook which you can fly endlessly to wherever you want. But it is also fun.
Thanks for playing! Yeah I've noticed this bug as well...it will be fixed in the first patch after the voting has ended.
Great job, the mechanics are sweet and with polish would look great too I'm sure. The siren scared me the first time I got caught haha which was thrilling :p
Thank you! :)
Yeah, that siren is supposed to wake up all the guards in the museum :P
Cool design, i wanna learn how to do a grappling hook haha. I had fun using the hole mechanic too. The sprite style is cool and unique. Keep it up! Great job submitting a game to the jam! Please check out mine when you have time :)
Thanks! :) I'll check out your game as well!
Awesome game, as a fan of the thief saga i really enjoyed it. I love to approach it full stealth, as while it is hard to loot without being seen it is so much more rewarding when you get the target items.
I love how you took the challenge and made all the sprites on the game, and also the animations. Thats a big congratulations to you, keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for this comment, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Making all the sprites and animations by myself was quite challenging, since I don't have that much experience with creating art in general, but that's what game jams are for...and it was fun nevertheless :)
Pretty buggy but those bugs dont take away from the experience, its very fun. Would play again :)
Thanks! Glad you liked it :) Which bugs exactly did you encounter while playing?
the cops would become invisible when a camera fell from the ceiling, i could still die from them
yeah, as long as you are not in the same room, you can only see cops in rooms which have a working camera. however, if there is a camera, it will detect you after a few seconds, so you have to decide whether to destroy the camera (i.e., remove the direct threat, but lose your eyes in the room) or not.
But the cops are still there, and will catch you, no matter if you see them from a different room, or not. I tried to explain this mechanic with the first message panel you see once you arrive at the museum, but I'll improve this in a future version. So actually it's a feature, not a bug ;)
oooooooh that makes much more sense, im gonna go replay it now :) thx
Took me whole while until i figured out what to do but after that it was funny. Great job!
Thanks! :)
A very interesting concept though I think I could have used the grappling hook more xD The alarm got me into tricky situation.
Thanks :) Yeah, the grappling hook can be quite useful - while playtesting, I was crashing into the floor on level below me on a regular basis, only to be caught by a guard while I was still stunned :D
