In what way does your game fit the theme?
We have a rewind mechanic in our fighting game! Use the rewind key to rewind your player's jars to its past position! It does the most damage and blocks shots as well!
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
This game(code, music, and assets) was made mainly from scratch! The only thing not made by us was the title screen font and the death screen font we got from dafont.com.

I like where you are going with it. Can't say I've played many multiplayer games in this jam much less one that uses a rewind mechanic. Keep it up!
It's a nice fighting game. But I think, that the mechanics weren't that clear. Maybe give the player more feedback via particles and more sound effects :)
we definently plan to do that once we start working on it again. Right now we're just beginning unity (switching from godot to unity because of unity teams and how many more tutorials and stuff there are), but we'll be sure to include a tutorial of some sort and maybe even a singleplayer campaign/ ai opponents when we continue. Thanks for the feedback!
Nice to see a local multiplayer game in this gamejam! Nice inclusion of various mechanics & the implementation of rewind on the boxes.
In the grass level, I think its unfair that both blue boxes are at the higher platform but 1 red boxes is immediately available on the ground for P2 to use though
for the boxes since each player has 2, we had 1 spawn at the top so you can't access it directly, but the other one spawns randomly in 1 of 4 places. In future versions, do you think having both boxes spawn randomly would be more fair, or the box that spawns randomly spawn on the same level for both players (symetrical level design)?
For the castle stage, since the focus is more on using moving platforms to your advantage as well as some of the juts that prevent you from going at high speed, we decided to use only 1 predetermined jar for each player.
I think randomness is good, it creates good replayability as it makes every play slightly different. However, for the grass level at least, I thought that having unsymmetrical spawn of the boxes was slightly unfair at first because P2 immediately gets access to 1 of the box, but P1 has to jump to higher platform to access the 2 blue boxes. Furthermore, most of the times, the 2 blue boxes spawn at the 2nd/3rd highest of the platforms.
On the other hand, considering that the player can fall "endlessly", it could be argued that the P1 can immediately reach those boxes if they know how to fall properly & immediately reach the top platform too. So, now thinking about it with this mechanic, it was probably a small issue.
Castle stage was fine though.
This is a pretty fun and standard 1v1 arena fighter. I liked the music! Was spooky and fit the stages pretty well. The mechanics were a little nondescript and hard to understand, but once I figured it out it was fun to chuck knives at my wife who was player 2.
Nice game to play with a friend, I am alone and I did some test.. As I suggestion i miss some collision sound effects, specially when you hit the opponent, could be cool also some particle (like blood) to make more atmosphere..
My game is a casual game if you wanna rate is https://misterm.itch.io/mixtape-match , Thanks
Wish I had someone to try this out with.
This game seems nice to play with friends. Also luckily parsec works !
I tried rewinding couple times with no effect I dont know how it was supposed to look or work but at least you had it in there. For a jam game this was a solid attempt though id like it more if you made the enemy AI instead of waiting for a person to join with parsec or having someone come over to play it. Id say thats the only main issue, another issue is projectile speed. it seemed too slow so if i were you id definitely look into making it faster.
Overall pretty fun project and when playing with someone you loose track of time. Keep me updated on the future of the project and thanks for making this !
If you have some spare time and are available give my game a go as well and leave some feedback for it as id love to hear many different opinions for future development. Thank you and cheers !
I'll be sure to check your game out! while we're planning to switch engines from godot to unity, we may remake this in Unity with all the changes everyone has been suggesting, and make a singleplayer campaign.
Definitely let me know and if you need help as well. Id definitely be able to help you achieve your goals !
Thanks!
Do you know any good software to make video game music? I've just been using garage band.
I personally use FL Studio. Give it a shot, you might like it.
Tried it against myself, due to a lack of friends.
The game seems nice and fun, platform fighters are great to play with other people.
Some problems that I had :
-If you go to the "how to play" screen, it then goes to the stage select, with no infos about how the rewind works and the super power of being hit by jam.
-The knife attacks seemed underwhelming. Mostly the melee one, which had quite a short range. Given the concept, I think it would have been better to have attacks that focus on the physics, in order to move the enemy and/or the jars so that they collide into each others.
-The binding for player 2 seemed a bit weird, I had to extend my hand to move and use the keys at the same time. It's still playable but less confortable than player 1.
Will try again and update if I find somebody to play, at least to see what kind of tricks you can do with the jars.
Overall, from what I saw, great work.
Yeah, the knives now are a bit underwelming. While playtesting we noticed they were to powerful, so we had to nerf them, tho we may have just made them do to little damage. Also, we originally planned to create a seperate build for parsec where the controls would be space out, but decided not to. If we continue to work on the game though, we'll be sure to take your ideas into account!
Super fun game, immediately reminded me of Smash Bros.
I was able to win by only launching jars and rewinding them too until my opponent was hit or fell off the stage. Maybe the knife attacks could feature more prominently somehow in this game as right now I just want to push the jars around! Loved how the physics worked on them (flying off screen to continue from the other side).
Nice job! Definitely a fun one.
This is a nice idea, I didn't have a second player tho' but the concept is great! Smash bros style, I liked it!
Very simple game, I can't say much about, the gameplay is overall good but the jumping is a tiny bit weird,(specially climbing platforms), maybe some adjustment would be nice!
You did a nice job with the execution, but polish would made even better!
The music is great and the game is funny. Great job!
The game is good, I like the idea. but sadly im alone at home and cant play a local multiplayer :'c
you should try to add a simple AI to the game. also, add a cooldown to the attack, because if you spam the attack button fast enough you can instakill the enemy
the strabery jam has less gravity than the peanut butter.
maybe adding some jam audio to the attack would add more to the game, it needs some sound effects.
and try to change the win text to the color of the winner.
We were planning to add a singleplayer mode, but sadly didn't have enough time. Also we had a few other death messages, but didn't have time to put them all in. Good idea for the text color though! If we continue working on it, we'll be sure to add those changes . Also for the spamming, thats why we have it so attacks can't go through semisolids and jars, but yeah, we noticed that whenever 2 players got to close, it could just become a stab fight.
Great game! I l absolutely love the names of the players and kingdoms, nice job!
Fun game :)
It's a cool idea to make a 2P gamer, but I'm not too sure that it works with gamejams, since not a lot of people try games with other people.
Had a lot of fun playing this game! Very interesting having a fighting game with physics included.
Unfortunately I dont have a second player. Can't say how fun it is
Hi
if you have anything like parsec, you can use it to play with your friends online as if it were a local game! we used it to playtest :)
