In what way does your game fit the theme?
You rewind the time of objects to investigate them. Also the goal is to travel back in time to save the planet.

The Playthrough: https://youtu.be/NiifP23ui4w

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. I made all the assets, animation, story, level design, most of the code and mixed royalty free music with selfmade sfx.

The art was amazing. The writing was great as well, specially the comments about our current situation. Only negative I can see is that the platforming segments are too unforgiving. I slipped so many times and had to restart the game all over again.

The story is the main protagonist here, so I hope you’re able to develop it further, while also improving on the programming side of things (I know it can be scary) Congrats on your submission!

Developer

Thanks a lot to your feedback! My initial programmer partner was forced  change working shifts, so he wasn't able to participate with me so I had to improvise and do the programming myself. And dear, I haven't programmed for several years so this was kinda awkward. It took me waaaaay to long for what I actually coded. But in the future my prorgammer will take on the lead there and fix my errors :'D
So thanks a lot to comment on my main focus, since that's what I am actually doing.

Good ambiance and art! I love the design of the main character. Dropping from a high place was a gamble, since you couldn't see what was down there... Controls were smooth and nice

Developer

Hey thanks for the feedback! Totally agree on that! This will be fixed in the future!

The art and atmosphere were fantastic, and I really enjoyed the little story snippets.  The game's really held back by mechanics though.  The shooting is hard to use with the delay and slow bullet speed, and the jumping and movement feel very loose and somewhat out of control.  Maybe also consider some effects for shooting and hitting the wasps.

I'm also not really sure how you incorporated the theme as a mechanic here.  It's explained in the story as a time machine, but from what I can tell it's basically just a level reset, and feels very poorly implemented.

Developer

Hey thanks for the feedback! I will definetly fix these issues in the future. But I must disagree on the rewind topic, it's implemented in several points. You actually travel back in time story wise. Also you gather samples which are broken and reset them to their former status as explained in the intro. (I couldn't finish this visually in time, but it's explained) It's a story driven game, so the time travel mostly applies to the story elements. As stated in the intro, you travel back in time after collecting the samples. You can watch the playthrough I put in the description. In the ending you activate the time machine and and travel back in time.

The art style is great, especially the player character, i feel like it just needs a bit more polishing, like, speeding up the "charging shot" animation, SFX for hitting hornets or something else as a feedback for the player's actions, and a new mechanic or two to really improve the plataforming experience. Nevertheless, a very good entry for a week long jam!

Developer

thanks a lot! I totally agree on your feedback. i will work on it in the future so stay tuned :)

The art is wonderful and the story is interesting to investigate. The game needs more polishing on animations and some mechanics, but overall it's a solid entry and great game. Congratulations!

Developer

thanks a lot! I am glad you enjoyed it!

I absolutely love the art style and atmosphere of this game, and the music was perfect. The only thing I would say is the shooting seemed to take a second of two after I hit the button to fire, other than that I would love to see more.

Developer

Thanks! This game will be updated, so stay tuned! Glad you liked it.

Wow, nice game, you did a really good job there.

I like artstyle and the atmosphere. Maybe you can improve the jump mechanics, it still not realy feel good, but i like the walk animation.

Developer

Thanks for you feedback! It will be adjusted in the future!

Okay firstly I want to compliment the art style and direction, this is beautiful! However I gotta say that it needs snappier response to the shooting control. Maybe wind up to fire more quickly (or even instantly), as it detracts a lot from the feeling of a weapon when it is slow like that.

Add some particle effects, some post processing would go absolutely wonderfully with your already great looking art.

Camera is another issue with not necessarily being able to see pools of acid before jumping (the curse of gamejams XD), but it is forgivable given the nature of things. Definitely what I would improve on though (same for my own game tbh).

Thank you for the cool entry and keep it up, keep putting in the effort and you are gonna make great things. I enjoyed your entry and I hope you have a lovely day.

Please if you have time, review me as well. I would really appreciate your insight. I have made extensive use of post processing and of shading, and I think if you do some of that with your art it will look FANTASTIC.

My kind regards!

Developer

Totally agree on your feedback! I definetly wanted to add lighting and particles, however i run into several issues when implementing them. For the particles I didn't had enough time to code, implement and adjusted them right within the timeframe, because for the core game I needed 5 days and I only had one day for the art. (I was only able to work 6 days on it) so I was forced to cut it. And the lighting. I used Unity 2017 because I am only used to monodevelop and upgrading to 2019 where 2D lighting is implemented would have meant to swap to Visual Studio and boy I only get so confused when the color code changes from the code and to adjust that would have taken too much time. So i totally agree, it hurt submiting without having the visual standard I wanted it to have, but I guess I should be happy enough for people enjoying the art and atmosphere I was able to create with like 8 assets xD

Good game! I enjoyed the story line behind it. I was wondering if someone would do it over 2020 and this one sure did it good! A couple suggestions would be to increase the size of the ledges as you can easily slip off when jumping from one pole to the other, and another would be to be able to see where to jump as I had no idea until I fell right into the acid. Excellent game for 2020! I would love to see more.

Developer

Awww glad to live up to your expectations and nailed it! Ye the slippery will be removed from the game. First I thought it would add to the gameplay but it made it so so sooo much worse and when I tried to removed it I broke like everything so I just let it in for the submission. This game will be updated so I hope you will tune in later for another try.

I agree with the comment below the control's are a bit difficult to use since people are used to LMB or space to shoot. Other than that game looks very detailed, I love the sad apocalyptic feel and the character is even wearing a gas mask, water is full of radiation and everything is a rubble. Great game feel and atmosphere building. Well done! Rated! :D

Developer

Awww I'm glad you liked the graphics and setting! That's my main focus and like that what I am actually doing. So I'm happy to get any feedback on it! The controls will be updated and adjustable for the player. I got many different suggestions on where to put the controls and Until now there is no clear winner.

Very interesting story, love the arts and the animations. but the control feels a little awkward. My suggestion will be to adjust the control to the buttons that people are familiar with. For example, maybe use left click to shoot instead of C and use Q or E for pulling or pushing the box, and maybe R for reseting the level.

Overall, very nice atmospheric game.

Developer

thanks for the feedback! This will be definetly fixed in the future. Also I want to make the buttons be adjustable by the player, because I heard so many different suggestions on where to put the controls on.

I think you have an interesting idea here that can definitely be expanded upon, however the gameplay is a bit lackluster at the moment. The graphics are really cool and the writing is nice and engaging. I think the game could use more auditory feedback as I noticed that the SFX were kind of sparse in the game. The shooting mechanic could also be made more responsive and the push/pull mechanic feels odd. Other than that, I like the premise of your game and I'd be interested in seeing further development!

Developer

Thanks for playing my game and taking you time for the feebdack! I totally agree concerning the gameplay and I will fix it in the future. Also having different levels dealing with one topic at a time and not throwing in 10 at once. I'm happy you wanna see more, stay tuned. It will be updated!

Submitted(+1)

I really love the art and the atmosphere you created. The gameplay is lacking a bit at the moment, but nevertheless I would love to explore the world a little bit more especially with the narrativ!

The character design is awsome, i hope you continue working on this!

Developer

Thanks a lot! I will continue working on this together with a programmer to  take care of the gameplay. I'm happy you're so interested in it!

Submitted(+1)

Very nice art, top marks for that, music is pretty cool too.
Mechanics and functionality aren't as good to be honest, but for a solo project its impressive.

I think if you continue developing and polishing it, you could have a really good and unique game that'd be commercial quality, so i hope you keep at it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Totally agree, I am not satisfied with the gameplay yet. I already found a programmer to help me finish this. I am very happy that you think it's got so much potential!

Submitted(+1)

Dude i love the visuals and art style, hands down to you, how did you manage to do this in one week,I haven't beaten the game yet but as long as I have played , it's awesome, also one of the best i have played so far😁

Developer

Omg thank you!!! That's soo nice!

The visuals in this game are absolutely fantastic. Really sells the whole post-apocalyptic look. The narrative is also really interesting. My only issues are with hit detection, animation and platforming. Sometimes when you touch a murder hornet your entire health bar gets drained in a millisecond. As for animations, if you shoot then jump or do anything to cancel the animation, the bullet still shoots out, which can look strange if you go backwards. Platforming's also kinda too punishing imo. Other than that it's a really good game with loads of potential!

Developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to write me feedback! I am truly not very skilled at programming and I wish I had one full time on the project to fix  these issues. In the future however these parts will be gettin done right.  And with regards to the punishing feeling. Initially I was planning on doing checkpoints. But I couldn't do them in time properly. The level would have been split in 3 areas, so you can access each challenge very fast, without starting from the beginning. I also adjusted some obstacles, since I got some feedback. I'm very happy that you praised my game! Thank you very much!

This is a very underrated game, the graphics and the visuals are amazing. The Gameplay is also amazing.

I can't pretend I've beaten your game (fuck that lake of acid!), but my god its an absolute looker. You / your artists got mad talent. Especially if you made all those assets truly over the last week. I also wanna voice my appreciation  for having an actual narrative, which tends to be the first thing to get the axe in a lot of these gamejam projects I feel.

I think there is a lot of potential here, with some sound effects, some better feedback on hits and some less punishing platforming, I totally see myself playing this "properly".

Oh, and I'm in love with your character design.

Developer(+1)

Omg thank you! I appreciate you feedback so much! I did the game all by myself. Coding took me about 5 days, so I wish I had more time to fix more of these issues you mentioned.  I wanted to integrate checkpoints, so the hard parts wouldn't feel as punishing as they do. I'm so happy you like my art and story, because that's my profession! Thanks for playing and commenting on my game! I'm trying to fix them later on and update the game. Maybe you wanna check this out in the future.

I will definately keep an eye on this, the setting got me hooked.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what programm do you do your illustrations in?

Developer(+1)

Awww! Definetly a motivation boost! I vary between several programms depending on what device I am using atm. So its more about the brushes I think. I always recreate my feelgood ones to every programm. (Well actually I use the standart full opacity brush with pressure sensitivity and smooth smudge everything together, but like the good smudge not the one Photoshop has). To answer your question though I used mostly Procreate for the painted parts and Photoshop for the geometry stuff. Animation was made with Spine Esoteric Software.
