The Mvement was very polished which mae the game very satisfiying to play. The level was easy to understand and it was very relaxed to play. I only have wished that you add a counter for collected souls. I also like it that you changed the souls into dead slimes xD Maybe the text on the souls was a little bit to fast to read for me, but i could get it most of the time.
Hey thanks for the good feedback! There actually is a soul counter in the top left corner at all times, unless the game somehow bugged out for you. Glad you enjoyed it nontheless
Never got lost in the level, despite its non-linear nature. The music loop was short but catchy and didn't get annoying. The souls do a good job of making you feel guilty with their dialogue at the end.
The jump felt a bit floaty. There was a lot of overlapping geometry in the level, which was a little distracting.
Thanks for giving it a go and being fairly loose on criticisms <3 - I have many plans for a sequel/revamp when I come back to this game (Currently on another project :D) Congratulations again on the Jam
Graphics were nice and simple, controls were smooth and easy to get the hang of. Though, when the scene switched, the eliminating bugged, not too sure what happened there. Good work!
If you meant the removal of the souls, they weren't meant to be removed in the second scene, it was a reminder of what you did. Thanks for the feedback though!
Well done platformer work! I like these type of games! I had fun and great work.
Dont forget to rate our game :)
Cool platformer with an interesting twist! I like the idea of the ending being "not real", so nice application of the theme. I also liked the open level design, with it being made to traverse both forwards and backwards. The only problem I had with the design was that some platforms didn't have colliders, while some open spaces did have ones. I would recommend being consistent with what is considered a true "platform" and what isn't. But regardless, great entry!
Aww sad ending! I enjoyed it though! Good music too.
Thanks for the feedback, Jammer! I had to think of something for the theme, so I apologize but I am not sorry. Thanks, getting a lot of mixed responses for the music but I am glad when people enjoy my mess :D
Pretty fun platformer for sure, souls weren't too bad to catch, great job!
Thanks fellow Jammer! They have a flow to them, but if broken it's hard to get it back (Source - Missed the floating bridge one 6 times in a row)
Cool platformer, really liked the idea of finding souls, it's pretty fun and not too hard to find all of them, I thought the game ended when you found the souls, so I closed it. But then I realized and went back to play the rest of it, and I liked the ending. Nice job!
Hey, thanks for playing! Yeah I was very vague about what to do and thats a big oof there, but I appreciate the kind words. Hope you had fun with the Jam
This was a really interesting experience. The concept is cool, but I did find some of the souls hard to get, like the one that required me to jump down into the pit. My only real complaint is the music though. It's kind of grating, but everything else is still good. All that said, the story you crafted is really good, and I had fun playing it. Well done!
Thanks heaps! Im really glad the most criticism I get is from the music. I studied one tutorial on LMMS like two months ago so I had zero hopes for it anyway. The pit was intentional, hence the climb to get out of it again. :') - Still though, thank you for playing and congratulations on the Game Jam!
Cool one, like the different comments of the souls when you pick them up and the pixel art elements you draw!
Thanks a bunch! The original art design was Cuphead-esque, however pixel art was chosen for time constraints
Loved this game. Such a great job and some nice twists in there. Here's my YT vid where I play and you can see my live reaction and thoughts! Great job with the game :)
Thanks for playing, very very fair assessment of the mess I made :D
quite depressing ending!, you gaze through my soul, I don't like it, it feels like a game just for me XD, nice game! I'm depressed now lol
I'm sorry that my puppet spoke through you. You are worthwhile in life though, internet friend.
Damage has been done, I might binge something to cope up XD
Really fun little game! Would be cool if you added more to the second part of the game, because I was not sure what to do.
Thanks for playing! I really wasn't clear on that. The house at the very beginning was the only objective of the second half. You could go and see what the souls were really saying, but the last bit of the first half says NOW GO HOME, which was the only clue to it. Non-purposefully vague though.
Hey,
Congrats of making a game in one week :)
I liked the twist, the humor and the concept. Although I got lost in the second level and I'm not sure what to do.
The music feels a bit repetitive, maybe try a longer soundtrack. But hey, not time, right? ;)
The colliders are a bit smaller than the actual terrain so it's common to just fall when you try to jump too close to the edge. Maybe that's intentional, and I get used to it, but I just mention in case it helps!
If you could try my game and leave some feedback I would really appreciate it.
Congrats again!
Hey! Congrats for also making a game in one week!
Had a lot of fun jumping the fences, and the insomniac feeling definitely came through.
Only constructive criticism, removing the shadows for the status bars. Other than that its a fun little game.
Yeah I didn't have much time to flesh out a lot but am still proud of what I managed. The second level is just meant to go back to the starting point of the level. (The NOW GO HOME! part of the walking scene was meant to be a hint but definitely too subtle).
I only had time to playtest my game once or twice before releasing, and as I knew exactly where to go that may be why I didn't notice the poor hitboxes, definitely something I will be improving on (Or keeping the gimmick but giving it use)
I like the general idea of your game quite a lot, but I got a bit annoyed of the background music at some point, because it was a bit too repetetive at some point ^^ but all in all I liked playing your game :D keep up the good work!
Thanks for playing internet friendo! I wholeheartedly agree with the music, sacrifices were made for time. It is only a four beat loop overlapping itself, I just needed something in the background.
The song was a banger and the movement was good. Would be interested in seeing you elaborate on this game more!
Thanks muchly! The song is not the original sound I mixed together, Godots 8bit import setting and some pitch control made it that. I will probably come back and make a bigger version of the game, with better spritework. As for the controls, I really wanted to make a sliding puzzle with the slopes, but ran out of time.
Edit - To add to my comment about time. The level design, character work, programming(And learning GDscript), music and twist were all added in the last 24 hours. i spent six days reworking the tileset and less than half of it got used in the end.
I love what the spirits say, that's really funny ! Good game :)
Thanks, I thought having the sprites be nice and cheerful for the first stage and then the other side of the same souls telling the truth at the end.
Slightly inconvenient control. Can't make it full screen. good music)
Full screen was breaking the game and I couldn't figure it out so locking the aspect ratio was the quicker fix. Thanks though.
Need some instructions, but the game is good! Try adding some enemies too!
Originally the souls were meant to be enemies but i was running short on time so I went with simplicity
I like how you integrated the theme using the storyline. Something I think could be improved is to make clearer, where the player can walk and where the walls block the player.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I was planning on fleshing it out a little more, just ran out of time.
