The game is really hard. I would appreciate a little bit more help at the start. Maybe an extra oxygen pod would go a long way.
Other than that, the game is great. Weedwhacker becomes the weedwhacked.

The start menu has a cool automated crawler going, I liked that. Also the website links on the menu - very cool.
I liked the look of the plants and the somewhat voxle/rough polygon look of the walls and ramps, its nice art.
But this was a hard game :) Those darn plants get a whack in before I can turn to space-machete them. The fruit is delicious and plentiful, but I need more air!
Edit: Also, thanks for putting your code out on github!
Neat game! I enjoyed the look of the place. It took me quite a long time to realize that combat was pseudo-realtime and I could actually kill things before they had a chance to kill me. Unfortunately, my party was already down a member or two at that point, so I didn't make it off the planet alive :(. Nice use of verticality, and nice minimap!
Beautiful game. It was fun to play. Pretty hardcore game. I tried to avoid combat (a kind of stealth), but I could not get beyond the second suit.
How did you make such a beautiful fog on the floor? I want to steal it. :)
Thank you very much for playing! I greatly appreciate it and am glad you enjoyed it! As far as the fog… lol… just, more or less, trial and error with the Godot WorldEnvironment settings :D … If you use Godot, you can technically steal it. The source for the game is available and the environment resource is a file you can nab to your hearts content!
Gorgeous entry! Love the art work on this one. Also, the “auto play” during the options menu was a nice little cherry.
I found it to be quite hard but very satisfying to figure out what was going on. I did die a few times but the game made me want to play again to see if I could make it further.
Could definitely use a little background music and the suffocating sound effect gets a little old.
Overall, I really enjoyed this entry, nice work!
Thank you very much for playing the game! I’m very happy you enjoyed it! Yeah, like a lot of things in a jam, I definitely intended more for music and sound effect, but ran out of time. Was definitely worried that the suffocation sounds would play too much. I quickly tried to reduce them, but they still play far too often.
I appreciate you playing the game!!
Great concept and good entry. It's a fair mixture of puzzle and action crawler, especially during the start when you need to find the optimal route until you "solve your oxygen problem". Pretty solid entry where restarting makes sense since you start with a bit more knowledge on where you need to go and do. The map was also a lifesaver.
Really enjoyed this one!
Tricky game! It sold being on a hostile alien planet, maybe a bit too effectively. It was a nice challenge, and it took me three attempts before I made it off of that forsaken rock. My main complaint is one you're already aware of—the movements near plants. It felt strange that turns took longer if I happened to be near plants, especially when I wasn't aware of a plant being near me.
It looks great for sure. Had some bugs with movements sometimes "sticking" and character moving/turning multiple times (painful near plants) and also with big plants attacking through the walls, though that could be intended.
Health for sure is a limited resource here and its quite difficult to balance both it and oxygen at times, though worst culpit for me was this bug with movement.
Other than that and visual ui bug after you revive (you see fruits counter not refreshed until you pick up new one) - game is smooth and nice! Great theme too!
Thank you very much for playing the game! I greatly appreciate it!
I’ve heard from others the movement felt like it was sticking. I think it has to do with the fact that the player and the planets actually work off a scheduler of sorts. Once the player goes, then the plants go. Things just progress so fast, normally, that it feels like there’s no pause. When the sprout plants attack, though, the player cannot move until their attack is over… so, if you’ve been moving freely to that point, then feel like your stuck for a moment, it may be because the plants hadn’t finished yet. I should have relayed that information in some way in game. I’m sorry for that.
Technically, no, the big plants were not originally supposed to attack through walls, but I kept it in because (time and) their attack spikes can be dodged (the spikes are NOT on the scheduler like the sprout plants are).
Yeah, health regen was supposed to be in the game, but I couldn’t get it in in time… at least, not the way intended. Originally the little escape pods the survivors are in were supposed to heal, but I couldn’t get the right triggers working in time, so I had to abandon health regen. I do know the game is beatable with more than 50% health, if that makes any difference :)
Once again, I appreciate your playing the game and the issues you raised!! Thank you very much!
This was a great and well polished entry, I had a lot of fun with it!
Plants of Deliverance - POD.. what that a reference to pod people form Attack of the Body Snatchers?
Here’s some notes that I took while playing:
Extremely minor quibbles:
Excellent job!
Thank you very much for playing the game! I really appreciate it! To be fair, I wasn’t the one who game up with the title of the game. That was my partner in the jam, so I couldn’t really tell you if it refers to AotBS, but I don’t think it does.
I’m happy you enjoyed the game, and I wish I had thought about that SFX bit, actually. Makes a lot of sense to hold off on the suffocation sounds until oxygen was lower.
Thank you once again for playing!! :D
The game was tense enough, I did not win on my first try, you nailed it with the hostile alien planet, movement works and verticality is always a good thing, good job.
Nice ambiance! It's pretty cool that you went for verticality since it's underused in this genre imo. Angry plants for your water in the desert was also a nice change of pace compared to your usual alien menace. I attained delivrance at least!
The idea, and atmosphere of the game is pretty great!, stuck on a planet and ahcing to survive with limited oxygen while fighting and strategically planning your routs... However the game is rather difficult, there is no health and i had an abundance of oxygen items, Its very easy to lose any of your followers due to how easy it is to get stuck or having to fight your way through
movement is also slightly bugged, and can sometimes be unresponsive, as i tell it to go left and it doesn't do that, mainly with me turning
ad when walking down slopes my view gets covered slightly by the ground texture
of course i cannot see much duality theme here either.
overall a pretty good game to play, despite its bugged, it looks good and audio is pretty allright as well
Thank you very much! I’m very happy you enjoyed my little game!
Yes, I had intended to put health regen in the game, but, sadly, ran out of time. I also didn’t intend for the mobs to always attack first, but, again, time kept me from really being able to tweak that.
I’m sorry to hear about the unresponsive input. I have encountered issues where it might “forget” an input if a number of them are spammed very fast (has to due with how I was queuing the input in the background).
As for the ground texture… yeah. Those ramps came in late and (well… yes, time, lol). I only need to go in and lower the mesh a bit.
As for the duality theme… the idea was supposed to be every choice being a benefit and a drawback. You could hunt for more fruit, but you use oxygen doing so. You can pick up a survivor, and that survivor gives you some benefits, but each survivor uses oxygen, so the more you have the faster it’s used. That was the idea, anyway. A lot may have gotten lost in the weeds.
In any case, thank you again for playing the game!!!
Wow, your game looks gorgeous! There's an issue with the mac buiId, the text appears ultra tiny when the game is played in fullscreen mode. Besides that, I don't think I made it very far, but this is impressive.
Thank you very much for playing the game! Full disclosure… I had absolutely no way to test the Mac build. I’m a Linux user myself and my partner in the jam had a Windows machine to test. When I export for Mac I generally just cross my fingers and pray (usually Godot is good to me with Mac builds). I’m sorry the text was very tiny for you.
Still, thank you again for playing the game! I appreciate it! :D
Hello, I like the theme of this game. However, I am not sure how to progress through the game without dying, there doesn't appear to be a way to heal or dodge the attacks?
On my first attempt I whacked all the plants I could find with my blue (fish?) but I died relatively quickly, on my second attempt I ignored the plants and made it a bit further but still ran out of health eventually.
Thanks for supporting linux!
Thank you very much for playing the game, i really appreciate it! There is no way to replenish health. That said, there are other survivors on the planet that can help you… (hint, one survivor is in the first level, not far from where you start, and they boost your oxygen. Theres another early in level two that sigificantly boosts your attack and defense). Good luck if you try the game again. If not, i still thank you very much for playing.
PS. The “fish” is supposed to be a broken off fan blade. Didn’t have the time to explain it, so, fair enough observation from your point of view.
So cool! Looked great, good mood and atmosphere, I liked the elevation and the slowly introduced exposition. I really liked the survival atmosphere and the elevation changes.
