I enjoyed this little story. Read like a poem! The voice acting was a nice touch.
The movement - it’s so smooth! It’s also beautiful, I love how it looks and I love the narrative elements. Great job!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I loved being told a tale in this way. Unfortunately I seemed to get stuck in the 3rd scene when the book was full as I approached the large group of letters. I wasn't sure if I made a mistake or more work was required. Overall I'd like to thank you for making a wonderful story.
You have to find the single path across the letter tiles that doesn’t kill you. It is a three-word phrase. By this stage of the game unlocking the chests has revealed two of the words. Those two words are in there and connect to the final word. You need to guess the final word to make it across and find the last books to finish the game. You would also have needed to have found the book that places a bridge to the safe start of the puzzle.
Ok thanks, I'll try again now.
Good luck. You’re very close.
Yes I've finished it now, thank you.
That puzzle was actually pretty ingenious. And the jumping animation, I loved that!
I adored the idea of traveling through this game finding books to continue the story. A good narrative with cohesive game style and a pleasure to play. This represents one of my favorite types of game play, a good story with a bit of puzzle solving.
Thanks for playing and sharing your thoughts. Those were our game design goals and we appreciate you letting us know they were met.
Your game is so endearing with the notes and the voice acting. It feels wholesome and I love the writing. There were parts where there was no voice acting and clicking on stuff sometimes felt inaccurate, but I understand because of the time constraints. Overall, nice game :)
Yes, we had to do this in 9 days because all of us were working that Monday. It needs some tweaking. I think the timing is not there on the books appearing yet. My testers were saying leave the books on longer so we have time to read them, but if someone reads fast and walks on, they may pass up the spot where the next book appears and get lost. I have to think about a way to resolve that. No one liked it when I froze character movement until a book played out. Glad you enjoyed the story.
I flew on a fucking dragon :D Good Work. I had to realize that i had to collect books^^
Glad you made it to the end. That was my idea of what heaven would look like for a book lover.
Really enjoyable, Specially following the storybooks! Really good game! Congrats!
Thanks. So glad you had fun.
Really enjoyed the art used and the story book feel to the game.
Storybook feel was exactly what we were going for, so thanks for letting us know.
Absolutely love the art direction on this, great job.
Thanks for the feedback!
Great story. It felt like walking through a poem
Actually, it began life as a poem several years ago. I had to sacrifice some of the poetic language to make it a game because you don't have time to sit and ponder the meanings of words when fireballs are dropping on your head. Glad you enjoyed.
What a cute little game. Loved it.
Peaceful gameplay, soothing music, a good sense of story and an absolutely beautiful setting.
Glad we were able to add something peaceful and soothing to your day :).
Cute entry, the visuals are really cute! The music was soothing and I was really curious to find where the story would lead. I'm just curious, did I miss something? Was I meant to do something with the sword I picked up at some point?
Also, spawned in the 2nd area, giant firey ball dropped in my head, I immediately died. Loved it.
Thanks for your submission!
The sword is automagically used at the end of the level 1 cutscene. If you look closely you can the the animation as it slides from the UI right into the pedestal… In fact this is just an optical illusion as I turned it off in the UI and enabled the one in the stone ;)
Nara just wanted to see if the princess’ hair spray contains enough flame protection to withstand the hard trials of level 2. So she made sure it gets properly tested.
And as the theme went: death is only the beginning (of this level)
When you pick up the sword it turns up in the top bar of the UI. When you finally reach the altar at the end of the level, if you watch the sword it disappears from the UI, tumbles into the scene and plants itself in the altar. And yes you have to move right away in level two but she will come back to life pretty quickly.
Some of the best game i have played so far, very nice visuals and gameplay and the voice over gives life to the game.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed.
Really nice work! I also died when I entered the second level because of the spawning object. Sometimes it's hard to navigate when the target floor piece is covered by another object. I don't know if it was only for me, but I received the last keyword after the word puzzle. I like all of the details that were put into this game, like different footstep sounds, voice clips, and outro. It was a great story and an innovative take on the game jam's theme.
Glad you enjoyed. Yes that spawning object at the start sometimes takes you out and other times causes no damage. That princess has some serious helmet hair.
I like the look of the game. The music fit nicely.
Thanks for the feedback.
Very cute little story and the voice acting added a special touch to the storytelling.
I don't understand how the game relates to the jam theme though.
I don't want to give away the ending but at the end of the third level the story reveals that the death of one thing made way for something new.
Oh, so that's how the story is supposed to be interpreted.
I understand now.
well done! The voice acting parts are a very nice feature.
I know nothing about voice acting but I really felt the story needed a voice. No one else would do it, so it fell to me and I thought I was awful at it. So thanks for that feedback !
Great story and Asthetics! Fun little submission you have here, well done!
Thanks. glad you enjoyed.
Nice to see some game with voice acting.
Died on second level instantly as i spawned under burning ball.
Thank you. So glad you enjoyed!
