Solid game! The story and theme were well done! I quick explanation of the score and the cost of the defenses would be nice. Also it seemed like some fireballs went further than others.
Thank you! I'm glad that you liked my game. And I definitely agree! I would like to improve the player onboarding so that it's less confusing. Also, the fireball game objects would be destroyed when they hit an enemy. The biggest problem is that there is no player feedback letting them know their fireballs actually hit something. I'll be changing this as well lol. Thanks for the feedback!
Wow, very nice! I found it challenging. Excellent animations and music. The gameplay very much reminds me of Plants Vs. Zombies!
This strikes me as extremely ambitious for your first ever game jam entry, and it seems like you did a great job! Well done!
Wow, thank you! I'm glad that you liked my game.
nice game! simple straightforward controls and great story, the graphics is neat . It has a good learning curve and replay value, I would play this game again, overall I enjoyed playing! congratulations! keep it up!
Thank you for your kind words! I'm really glad that you enjoyed your time with it!
Awesome game, It's hard to find a feed back to give as everything is good. The game could use more polish in animations and visuals. But other than that, pretty good game, all things fit together here.
Thank you for playing my game! I'm glad that you enjoyed your time. And yeah, I agree there. I had to Frankenstein the game together with a bunch of different assets. The goal one day would be to create my own visuals but I'm definitely not able to at the moment.
Very nice game! Hard but well balanced!
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This was a fun game to pass some time with. Though I have to admit to being very bad at it!
The design all fits together well, especially the background on the first screen :D
Thank you for trying out my game. I'm glad you liked it! :)
Great pixel art and good gameplay! A little overwhelming the amount of undead just on the second wave!
Me too I've created my first game e first gamejam!
If you want to give it a shot at mine :)
Thank you for playing my game! I can't take any credit for the pixel art as it was all done by other people. I would absolutely love to be able to produce a game with all art assets of something I created though. If I continue working on this post-jam, I would like to have some sort of difficulty options for better accessibility.
And, of course! I'll make sure to give your game a try a bit later today. Thanks again for your feedback!
This was really well made! I enjoyed playing through the levels quite a bit. If I had any recommendations one would be to have some kind of reaction animation or effect when your fireball hits the enemies (on impact). Again, great job on this!
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed my game. And yup, yup, player feedback is the number one thing other people have mentioned. It definitely needs to be priority fix post-jam!
Very well done. Tight mechanics and gameplay loop that developed stage by stage. Perfect size and feel for a game jam, but also has such a good loop that could be scaled up and added onto if you were to continue with this.
The deaths feel satisfying, however for the enemies that can take multiple hits, it would be nice to have some sort of feedback for when they get hit, but they don't die. Maybe a sound or even making the enemy flash red for half a second so you know they took damage.
Thank you! I'm glad that you enjoyed the game. Player feedback is definitely something that I'd like to improve with this going forward. And you're right about scaling it up. I already have a lot of other ideas for the game if I decide to work on it post-jam.
Great submission. Fun Tower defense game. I thought something was broken in the first level when I could buy nothing, but it was just that I was too bad at playing it :-) Thank you for the game.
Thank you for playing my game! Glad you had some fun with it! Yeah, the first level was to get player used to controlling the character. I think I'd like to tone the difficulty down a tad for the first level. Also, probably add in some additional onboarding for things like what keys to click and stuff so players realize that it's just the character they have in the first level.
I had lots of fun playing this! You have a very solid core gameplay loop set up, with additional challenges, choices and options coming up as one progresses through the game. You described that you struggled with scope during this game jam, but managed to overcome your challenge. I think you did an amazing job re-scoping and changing your direction, because the end result is a pretty fun and solid game.
Congratulations on completing your entry and once again, amazing job!
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad that you enjoyed your time with my game. Yeah, actually, my original project was completely different from this. I wanted to go and do a small platformer but I was a bit too ambitious. There were many things I wanted in the game but I wasn't sure how to do so it would have required a lot of looking up tutorials and reading documentation that I just didn't have time for. Luckily, I had enough sense to scrap that and move on to something else.
Very good, I was addict to PlantVsZombies, so I think I can be addict to your game too :D
Continue the great work !
Thank you for playing my game! I'm glad you had fun with it! I have a bunch more ideas for the game and have been thinking about whether or not I'd like to continue development post-jam.
A really fun game, the difficulty was perfect, I’d think a level was too hard just to beat it after a few tries and figuring out which units were best. The unit variety was good, they all did their own thing and it always seemed like I had a lot of options in tackling a level.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the game! And I actually spent one of my days just incessantly playtesting each level to try and get it as best as it could be. So, I'm really glad that you feel the same!
Nice tower defense twist of having the player have to actively be a tower. The actual towers felt unique and interesting from one another. Aesthetics were also on point.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed your time with my game.
I played your game before the deadline for submissions and came back to give my review and rating. I think you have a really good game. It's challenging but not impossible. I like the aesthetics and I enjoy the feeling of being the lone peashooter in a plant vz zombies level, but you're on crack xD
Thanks for dropping by again to leave a rating! It's much appreciated. I've done the same for your team's game as well!
First level is by far hardest because of lack of defense but then its very good. Remind me a little of Zombie vs Plants but with added necromancer. Nice :)
Thank for the feedback! It does seem like the first level has tripped up a few players. I think I definitely need to throttle it down just a bit to really let players ease into the controls. I'm glad you enjoyed your time with it though!
I only got through the first level, but I am on a slow pc at the moment and I plan on checking this again tomorrow because it would not let me get the items and place them down. I like the game at least to the point where I got to though. It was fun, and I try again tomorrow. The name of this reminds me of an older game called The Last Stand, where you were basically surviving against a zombie horde. It is a defense type game but i wouldn't say tower defense though for it. This feels like a mix of glitch garden from the Gamedevtv course (or plants versus zombies) and The Last Stand
Thank you for playing my game! As far as the first level goes, there aren't actually any defenses to place that level. I wanted the players to get accustomed to the controls of the player character. Level 2 onwards introduces defenses to place! And you're absolutely right, much of the foundation for my code was from the Glitch Garden segment of the old 2D Unity course that GameDevtv did. Obviously there are some variances but it was pivotal in helping me to work through the development.
Great game! I don't really care for tower defense games myself but the art and music were great!
Thank you for trying it out! I'm glad you still found some enjoyment here then!
Nice game with great graphics. I will repeat what everyone else is saying and say that the lack of feedback from enemies, and also feeling like my fireballs weren't going far enough was a bit frustrating as a player.
Yeah, the fireballs actually would only travel the distance until it hit an enemy upon doing so the game object (fireball) would get destroyed. I think that having feedback for when a fireball hits an enemy will completely alleviate the frustration because then players will know that they are doing something when shooting. Thank you for taking the time to play my game!
was pretty fun to play, honestly quite
a complete game for a game jam good job
Thank you for playing my game! I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
