Yay, found another tank control game in the last few hours :) Really liked it. Bonus points for having several music tracks for the in-game action.
Comments: I played the WebGL version and the Framerate got choppy after 50k and by 60k it was a bit of a slideshow.
Hitting the 'restart' button caused things to slow down a lot with each increment - after my 4th restart it didn't come back - maybe some objects aren't being disposed of or something like that?
Scaling was incorrect outside of full screen - BUT the performance was good enough that I could play full screen at a 2k resolution on my potato computer (at least until the gore tank got a bit full).
My final score: 66,300
Wow that's a very impressive score! I fear my quick and dirty way of destroying objects ultimately bogged down the game. If I had more time I would've liked to create a simple pooling system but in the service of time I went with just destroying and instantiating game objects. Thank you for taking the time to write such detailed feedback.
10/10 splatter sound!
Controls were responsive and I really liked the music and the SFX. They matched the vibe really well.
I definitely recommend people go full-screen with this one I ran into some UI element issues until I went full screen (image below). I couldn't hit 'restart' until I went full screen.
Hey, thank you for the feedback. Yes I did have some UI scaling issues that I wasn't able to correct before the end of the game jam as time was ticking away but it can be alleviated by going into Full Screen as you mention.
I chuckled at how the tank smoothly flies around the room when it dies.
Nice blood splatter.
Short sharp fun game.
Thank you, that was my intent. Something that can be completed in the space of a few minutes or go as long as you like.
Nice game! I really liked the concept of giving fuel from the killed imps!
Nice and smooth controls! Missed a bit the connection with the theme...
Hahaha. thank you for the comments.
8550!
Nice!
I find it awesome that our games use the same control style for the tank! That is what I got the most pushback for, but I hold that it is a good tank controller. I like that your tank continues to move and give you those last few bonus points on the score too. Can you make a Windows build?
I got you. Windows build up and running. Your game is great. It is an excellent movement style and you have excellent taste for using it.
Haha what a nice concept. Great work, i love your game:D It makes so much fun
Thank you for playing and the kind words!
This is probably one of the top spots for me! I love top down shooters and you did this one really well, it's a cohesive package with everything covered except one thing that I really want for the future, a windows build that I can boot up when I feel like it ;)
On a serious note, something I feel would add to your game is a enemy type that chases you, that you can't run over or maybe trying will kill both of you. It would change how you stragetize your movements and bring a lot more than "aim for the big blob of ammo imps" thing if you get what I mean?
This was my high score:
Wow! Great job! I thought I had a great score. I actually had an enemy that would melee dash toward you and a larger boss enemy that would only go down with projectiles planned but I ran out of time. Thank you for the kind words! I'll put up a Windows build for you lol.
Big t(h)anks!
No. No. T(h)ank you. Windows build up for your pleasure.
I love the idea that you need to “earn” your munition. Also the graphics and the splatter give an immersive athmosphere.
Thank you. I really wanted to reward planning your moves and conserving your ammo for the right moments. If you time your movement you can even crush enemies trying to shoot you.
Ah yes I got the thrill by rushing over an enemy loading it’s gun. That is actually a very good feature.
Great submission, nice amount of blood everywhere :) Was a good challenge and the tank controls were smooth.
I wanted movement to be as smooth as possible, it's the cornerstone of the whole game. The gore was a must as well, can't be a gore tank without lots of gore. Thanks for the feedback.
Good job. It was a good pace but could probably use with more than 1 hit 1 life.
I will consider putting in another mode with a health bar and some other tweaks. It can be a little frustrating at times when you're on a roll and you get knocked out but trying to go for the theme of live fast, die fast, kill fast.
Enjoyed a lot! reminds me of tank 1990. And great job nailing down the satisfaction of squishing monsters, especially coupled with the soundtrack is just the cherry on top
Tank 1990 is great compliment I remember wasting many hours of my youth playing. Thank you for feedback. The music is great. Please check out the artists for more.
Great submission. I like the main gun mechanics, the most satisfying part was grouping enemies together and then killing them all in one shot. The camera shake is a really nice touch, those little details really add to the aesthetic of the game.
My 2 cents if want to continue working on this: Maybe make it a tiny bit more forgiving like dying from 2 hits instead of 1. Also, I don't really use the machine gun that much, a whacky alternative could be something like a bomb or a grenade that you can also pick up by killing minions.
Anyway, I played like 3 extra games while writing this comment, so good job!
The ultimate plan is have swappable weapon systems. The machine gun felt like a good alternate to a slow firing but all powerful cannon. The difficulty can be a little brutal but I wanted to lean in on tense gameplay. I am hearing people on a bit of forgiveness and that would definitely lend itself to another mode with some padding and gameplay tweaks. Thank you for the detailed feedback it means a lot.
Nice game! The controls were cool, they reminded me of Brigator. At first I thought there were some kind of bug with the mouse controls cus I wasn't able to shoot. Then I understood that GORE IS MY AMMO. hahaha. It was a bit too hard but I had fun playing it. Thanks!
I almost forgot: Great music!!
Brigador is a high compliment. I wish my game was half as pretty. Thank you for playing.
crushing the monsters is really satisfying. nice sound. game was harder than i expected. congrats for submission
Thank you, it's a little rough but once you get into a groove it can feel like tightrope walking. Felt another enemy would've really spiced it up.
Love twin stick shooters (even with keyboard and mouse). Nice art direction and fun to play, congrats!
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I am working on gamepad support for true twin stick goodness.
As I said, it would be awesome!
Lovely music and graphics it suited the game
I appreciate it, I love the Demon Sprites. https://deepdivegamestudio.itch.io is fantastic, please go check them out.
Fun to play, great sound work - I liked the idea of adding alternate music tracks :)
Thank you. One soundtrack seemed so dull, so I decided at least three as you're likely to keep dying at first. If I had more time I would've liked at least 5 but I think 3 randomly rotated was good enough given the timeframe.
I just love the squashing sounds :D It's hard with just one hit, but it's a fun game!
They're great, really feels like you're grinding them up! I will definitely consider a mode with health bar and some tweaks to combat.
Good fun game, controls took a bit of getting used to, but all together really good work
Thank you for the feedback, it means the world.
