Cool concept with the bouncing but it is a bit out of the players control how much you can jump, so maybe making it a bit more controllable would help. But I did like the simple platforming gameplay, and the music and art was good as well. Overrall with some work and polish I can see this being a full fledged game.

I liked the bounciness. Nice job!

interesting game. But is infinite jump a bug or a feature

Developer

Infinite jump is a feature of this game.

I liked the character, the bouncing mechanic was fun. I think you've got the start of an interesting game here if you continue it in the future. I see from the description on the game page you had the idea of being able to absorb different liquids for various game play interactions; this is sounds like an interesting concept I'd like to see implemented. Nice work!

Cool mechanics, it would be very nice to see this game complete

I will release this complete game soon. Follow me to get all the updates.

Cool concept.

I like that the player's sprite had a bouncy default state, it gave the game a bit or character and lightheartedness. It also made me wonder how that could be used as part of the gameplay for levels. One thing that made the game a little too easy for me was that you could keep pressing the jump button in midair and basically fly over the obstacles. I can already tell that if the midair jumping was a little more limited, it could lead to some satisfying platforming. That being said, I did have fun bouncing around like crazy. I could see how having that much jumping power could also be used against the player ( like spikes on the ceiling).

Honestly, I was ready to keep playing if there were more levels so that I could see where you take it, though gamejams don't always leave enough time for extra levels :(

A simplistic platformer, maybe you ran out of time with other levels and the abilities you were planning. That's understandable, that's what Gamejams are :D

Jumping felt off, so physics on that need some work. Nice little old school 2d platformer style though!

The bouncing is interesting, might be useful for your later games. The physics needs a lot of work. The description gave me a lot of promises. With more time, I think you could do it.

idk if you deliberately set the jump height; it's sometimes too high and sometimes too low. I can't make my own jump. I had to wait some times to make an appropriate jump, and that's a lot of patience.

I read the description the game has some levels and the player has some abilities, but I just got one level and the player has no abilities. Even though I've reached the blue flag, it should trigger a new stage and new abilities, right? I don't know if the game is not completely finished or if I missed something.

In my infinite wisdom I spammed the jump button until I went so fast I broke through the ceiling and soft locked the game.  A neat game tho

Lul :)

Fun game! I like the artwork and everything. I wish there were some more levels, but what you had was enjoyable!

Cool little game. Add here another character of a different color and different coins for them, one could assemble a good puzzle!

Good luck with future projects!

Nice game!  Good work!

Fun/Mechanics

A simple platformer where you collect coins to reach the flag. Jumping around as the sponge is fun. However, I was able to jump in the air forever. Was that intentional? I could see this becoming a mobile game with how simple the controls are.

This game would definitely benefit from more levels. There’s not much to say since the only level available doesn’t have much to it. It seems you planned on adding more levels, but maybe ran out of time? It’s unfortunate, but it happens.

Theme

Unless I'm missing something, the game doesn’t seem to tie in to the jam’s theme of living in two dimensions (besides the game being literally 2D, of course).

Aesthetics

I like the colorful environments and the look of the main character. The style looks like a mobile game.

Music/Sound

The music and sound effects fit the cartoon-y art style and tone of the game.

Overall

I like the art style of the game and the way the main character controls and bounces. I hope you can expand on it with more levels and mechanics! The description for the game mentions absorbing different types of liquids which could be an interesting mechanic.

Thanks for submitting!

In the submission page one of the examples is literally just make a 2D game, so i'd say fair enough they are on the theme here.

Submitted(+1)

That's fair. I must've missed that. I've adjusted my rating.

Good job

Funny thing. Would like to have another level or two tho. But yea, I know how it is going, since I planned for this jam 10 levels and got only 5 myself lol.
