The main mechanic is very clever. It is super simple but used in a lot of ways, liking breaking the vent and also grabbing things, that's really cool. I like the overall silly premise, and the guy's slippers. Good choice of music, gameplay including things like SFX feels well polished.

I like what you've built here! The mouse movement is a creative way to implement the jumping mechanic. It is quite challenging, which allows for some fun gameplay. Nice work!

The jump mechanic is fantastic! And not just for jumping, but using it so cleverly to latch onto things or, at times, act as a hindrance if you're trying to move through low areas. Really, really impressive and fun! The characters are also very well designed and, along with the music, bring a lot of levity to what could otherwise be a tragic story.

That was fun. The movement mechanic was original. Well done.

Really fun little game! The concept is hilarious, and the jumping mechanic is unique and adds a layer of complexity which I really appreciate. Great work!

Developer

Thank you, I really appreciate this :)) glad you enjoyed the jumping mechanic!

this is hillarious, I loved it. But the checkpoints in the sewers are really harsh. I'll have to come back later

Developer

Thanks for playing :)) And yeah, it is a pretty rough section, could've done with at least a second checkpoint. If you're giving it another shot, it helps to stand on the valves while the water passes!

After playing over 50 games, I can say I like yours best. Good luck on the voting :)

Great job, this was pretty cool!

The air vent part really gave me "Getting over it" vibes, mostly because I kept getting my cane/IV pole stuck in the little outcroppings that I was supposed to jump off of. But I enjoyed it. When I finally got through it I was actually proud of myself haha!

Awesome job to the both of you!

Developer

I'm so glad to hear this, thank you! And yeah getting over it was a definitely a reference for us for that section :) glad that you had that experience!!

Submitted(+1)

That was a very enjoyable experience. And a unique one as well.

Developer

Thank you!! :D

Great take on the theme, the models fit the approach :D  got a bit stuck, but really creative.

Developer

Appreciate this, thank you :))

Very unique idea, i really like the jumping mechanic when i figured it out and the art style went very well with it.

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it, thanks!!

Finally managed to complete the sewer stage! Dying again and again started to feel annoying but I am so glad I managed to finish it. Good Job!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you were able to get to the end, especially after that frustration lolol. Thank you!!

This was so fun! The sewer level was a bit challenging at first - but overall very cool - I was excited to get Francis Freed :)

Developer

Hell yeahhhhh, thank you for playing :):)

Hilarious, brilliant and creative. It's just the right blend of bad controls as a mechanic to keep you engaged and not rage quit lol. I started off thinking "what's wrong with just using the spacebar?" but I came to appreciate the nuance that came with the mouse motion

Developer

Ahh man, this is so sweet - I'm really glad you had that experience with the mouse motion!! Appreciate the screenshot :D:D

I like the mechanic quite a lot very unique and the character model is very cool and wacky I think you should have designed the doctors to be that way as well.

It would be cool if you had more uses for the iv like a zip line or something but I understand it was quite a pain just to get jumping to work, overall really cool game.

Developer (1 edit)

I was planning on making a separate more challenging bonus level which required some more creative movement I was testing out. Unfortunately time went fast and the focus was on finishing the main level. Thank you for testing out our game!

Francis ain't taking it anymore!
Really cool and unique take on the theme. Also a very nice change up from the usual jumping mechanic, the controls made you feel like your were actually pole vaulting with the IV drip stand which was awesome.
Great works!

Developer

Thank you for testing out our game!  The pole mechanic was quite a pain to get working well but I'm quite happy with how it turned out :)

I bet it was tough, but the time devoted to it definitely paid off :D

I really liked the jumping mechanic. It was unique and new. Also nice environment setting. I really like the visuals of the game.

Developer

Thank you for testing out our game! There was initially also a jump but this "Getting Over It" inspired jumping felt more fun so we went with that.

Loved the controls, and got to say I found some speed-run starts in the ventilation room. we need a timer so we can do timed runs. the Free Francis any% community yarns for it.

Loved the game.

Developer

Yes there are some unintended ways of doing things in the vent section :D There is actually timer but the time is only displayed once you reach the end! Just tried to speed run it on the uploaded windows version and got 75.72s.

124.something,  finally had a little bit of time to try and beat it.

Unique game and levels are nice, but I found it to be too hard. Couldn't get past this part because my head would keep bumping on the ceiling.

:D

Developer

Thank you for testing out the game and for pointing out this specific problem, I added a hint to the game description to help out future players that get stuck here! The vent section was hard to balance to make it beatable but not too easy, especially since I got quite good at it while testing the game. Could probably have used some more outside game testing if we had more time!

Submitted

I managed to beat it now, thanks for the hint. The water part was a nice challenge, at first I was trying to figure out how to do it, but I got it, and it was a nice balance. Beat it in 222.88 seconds, lol.

:D

Sir Einstein? It's good but it is pretty difficult for me

Developer

Thank you for testing out the game! Could definitely have used some more outside game testing for the difficulty, because it's hard to judge the difficulty while you are constantly testing the game yourself :D

Just hammer away with that metal pole ! Was very enjoyable to get that daredevil out of there. Aesthetics and theme really took me back to “Edna & Harvey”. Please make more of this!

Developer(+1)

I'm not familiar with “Edna & Harvey” but will have to check it out! We thought the characters turned out a bit similar to "Psychonauts" characters, which we both really like. We had lots of ideas for additional areas and mechanics but this was what we (barely) managed in this time frame :D
