Reminds me of the old school text adventure! Nice matching bgm as well.

How cool, a text adventure! I enjoyed exploring through all the different menus and experimenting to see what would happen. (Spoiler Alert: I shot the teddy once and returned the teddy to its owner once. I never did figure out what to do at stall 3.) Personally I was a little but confused at times and might have liked a clearer sense of direction, and maybe the option to bail out of any one stand at any given time if I felt like it. (I think I got stuck in a menu in stall 2 once or twice and had to navigate through more menus to get out.) Music and visuals were appropriately carnival-themed and complemented the experience.

Unique interpretation of the theme and good writing! The game doesn't have many visuals, but it creates scenes in my imagination pretty well.

Interesting game. The music and art was good and the story was great. Its more unique than other submissions for sure.

Wow, what a fun and creative little text adventure! I really like the way you implemented the theme and your clever use of text to make the game progress. The game wasn't too hard or too easy, and very fun. Thanks for sharing, keep it up!

Nice Text adventure game :). Was fun to put the pieces together and work out what I needed to do next.
After winning the game I played again to see if there was other endings, only found the shooting a teddy one :), but did notice the clue from the 3rd stand :)
well done!

Nice text adventure.  Couldnt do very much in the game.  I shot the teddy and got booted out.  What was wrong with that? :)

Cool art and music, and a fun premise - definitely gave off some haunted carnival vibes! I almost thought I was going to lose then got there on my last go :D

Neat little text adventure. Good job on the music and art. Too bad you didn't get time to implement the finale.

A really unique take on the theme! I especially enjoyed the artwork and music - nice submission!

I returned the teddy! Hooray! Fun little CYOA game. Good job folks.

If you had more endings/content to read that would be good, but it is nice for what it is.

I got the little one the teddy bear but didn't manage to get whatever is needed for the third stand. Reading the comments here and if I understood it correctly, you didn't implement it?
At least I've got the little one the teddy bear and they are happy :D.

Cute little game. Good job!

You're right, I didn't implement it since we ran out of time. I think we might have started even pretty late in the jam as well, which may make it even more surprising there's any submission. Thanks for playing it and I really thought your game was really cute as well!

Oh wow, then you did an awesome job still getting so much done. Can't wait to see more of this game.

Good game, nice job!

This is a neat game! I like the music and the little story about the teddy bear. The controls are okay; I didn't really like having to switch between the numbers at some parts and the spacebar at others. I think maybe having a "1 - [continue]" option instead of the spacebar would help make navigation more consistent.

Developer (2 edits)

Really appreciate it, I might be starting to think it would be better if when there's one option (to continue) you just always pressed 1 like you suggest here, so I may consider it as actually I may end up preferring this way for many reasons.

Also, if an updated version had alternate point and click as another way to progress in addition to the numeric keys, what in your opinion might feel better, easier to use, or more pleasant in terms of clicking buttons? If they were buttons that could be clicked? if the choices were "navigated" on each screen? Both? Or neither and something else entirely? Thanks so much for playing!

Sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by, "if the choices were 'navigated' on each screen".

One of my favorite systems for navigating text is the one used in the game Disco Elysium. It allows you to choose options either by clicking on the choice with your mouse or by pressing the corresponding button on the keyboard (like what your game does). The choices appear just as regular text, but when you hover the mouse over them, they change color.

At the end of the clip, I pressed 5 on my keyboard to end the dialog.

Sorry yeah I think I didn't explain it too well, It would be sort of like you can select options by moving up or down as if you're in a menu selection for a moment, sort of. I don't actually prefer that way myself.

The video you provided really helps actually where it shows the text changing color when hovering the mouse over the numbered options. I think I may prefer that way, thanks for providing the video clip. I may consider to play that game you linked there sometime as well as it seems fun. Thanks for your feedback, it's very helpful!
