very cool ship combat :) I also liked the sinking animation, and fire on the ship :)
I first had the idea to make it a survivor type, but scope creep happened haha
Cool little pirate game! I liked the map that you expand to see the whole area that you were sailing. The controls felt pretty nice as far as sailing a ship, but I was a bit confused about the firing mechanic. I was struggling to tell if my cannon shots were hitting the enemy ships attacking me (maybe I was just missing all my shots because I'm bad at shooting in your game haha). But overall it's a great project and I saw you developed it in Scratch which really blows my mind because I didn't realize it could be used to make a game like this!
It works so when you hit the enemy he takes damage, but that applies also to the canonballs. Sometimes you might shoot their canonballs out of the air. Some people like to push scratch. With Turbowarp you can increase performance, even 60fps!
Great submission!
Thanks!
Controls are a bit unwieldy, but I played it with keyboard, very impressive work For Scratch though, It's insane what people can do in that little engine. If I where to make a recommendation, have it to where you can lead the shot better, by having you fire from both sides of the ship, or communicate better which side is the side firing, as well as having the cool down timer or visual for the reload, instead of just a sound que.
Yes I have heard those complaints lol, I have added it to my list. The final version will have an actual UI. I have a love hate with scratch, it's easy and quick for prototypes but so limited when trying to make anything else besides a shooting gallery.
It reminds me of the old browser game Seafigh, the good old times! Good job overall. One suggestion I can make is that some music would make the game feel more lively.
I might give music a shot when I finish the game. Thanks!
Very FUN and UNIQUE idea on this game! AWESOME WORK!!! GREAT ART!!! NICE MECHANICS!!! This was a fun challenging game. Loved it.
Thank you :D
Shooting and movement worked pretty well, overall nice job on the game!
Hi Thanks! What needed improvement do you think?
There are some things that could be changed to make the game even more interesting, however for your game I might see if I can try to think of some specific examples, none come to mind at the moment. However, I think there are a few things that an help. In case I think of some I may reply to you again with something more specific.
Just some fun sailing around shooting at stuff :) Very impressed that this was made with Scratch!
Thanks! it was interesting to experiment what scratch is capable of.
I like it! The way the ship controls and the way the cannonfire feels, it works well! Blowing up an enemy ship was very satisfying once I figured out how to outmaneuver them well. Awesome job!
Thanks! Yes pretty dumb ai haha
This is fun and interesting. I found it a bit difficult to see the smaller details, and I wasn't sure why sometimes I couldn't shoot when I wanted to. Well done on your submission!
There is a reload time, you should hear a click. Yes the details, this game is made in scratch it only has a 480 by 360p screen. Next time i'll be using unreal and there will be details :D
Fun game! I enjoyed discovering the dinosaur animation. After destroying a few ships I tried exploring the map a little bit. Got hung up on the shore at some point and got pummeled because I couldn't move. The AI for the enemy boats was really good.
wait what dinosaur? XD I'm planning on turing it into a finished product. The map is pretty empty and there is litterly no point in destroying anything yet lol.
Wait that dinosaur lmao
This was really cool! I was able to take down the ships, even if I beached myself a few times. I thought the enemy AI was at a great level too, I felt like they were doing a decent job of trying to chase and shoot me, even I was cleverer mwahaha
I'll have a finished product in about a week, maybe give it another try? more ship types, money, shops, bosses and more :D
Sure sounds fun!
Brings me back to the days of Sid Meier's Pirates.
No kidding, I wasn't aware of Sid Meier's!
Respect for making it in scratch and great reloading sound :D
been learning unreal too, thanks!
Nice job! I'm not sure if I missed what the objective/goal was, but I enjoyed the handful of ship fights I did, and then cruising around the map for a bit :)
yeah my scope was WAY too big lol
Great Game!
Thanks! what didn't you like at all from the game?
I mean it was really nice, the only thing that comes to my mind is that the controls could have been more responsive
Okay yeah I will be making more types of ships, so the maneuverability will vary. Thanks
Nice game!! it bring back memories..
Thanks! what memories if i may ask?
I used to play Pirates! a lot, and this certainly brought back some memories. Good boat movement. Couldn't work out if you can repair your ship? Recommend making the gun sound a little less harsh, it can tire after some time.
The Repair is coming soon! I'm still working hard on it and will update, the sound was indeed too harsh. I wanted to add so much stuff but I had to submit. Maybe play again in a day or two I will have finsished the game.
