As long as you don't fight around earth it's perfectly good. if not you shoot up earth like there's no tomorrow

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback!  I realized all enemies focused on the player too late.  Very easy to defend Earth just by leaving, lol.  :)

Fun space shooter game! The movement felt very fitting for a space operating in outer space and I had to be quite precise with when I hit the thrusters. It made it challenging but fun sort of like a Lunar Landing meets Vampire Survivors type mashup. Sound effects were satisfying, and music track was pleasant to have in the background while attempting to save Earth.

Great work!

Developer

Thank you for playing and the kind feedback!  :)

Man, I had a really hard time with this game. I could only get one powerup in all the time I played. But t was good otherwise.

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback.  Movement was a challenge in the game... too much like Thrust and a little difficult to manage especially if shoot or bumped.  :)

Submitted

great job on the game! the movement felt so smooth. maybe i need to fuel myself with mountain dew too! congrats on the submission :- )

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback!  Mountain Dew, the drink of heavily energized heroes :)

Well done ! While playing I was hearing song from Tokyo Drift movie in my head as it felt like I'm drifting :)

Hey there, nice game! Sorry people of Earth, I tried. I might suggest that you give the player an afterburner on Shift or else just boost rate of acceleration, something that lets them redirect more easily if they get knocked back or want to change direction because right now the bulk of the gameplay is just wrestling to redirect your ship. Set me up so I can mow down these evil extraterrestrials! Thanks for the game, I had fun.

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback!  The knockback was me focusing on the enemies bouncing off each other, I included it for everything and that was a little too much.  Movement was like thrust, I ended up thinking to change it but ran out of time.  Something to improve afterwards. :)

A fun space shooter with simple, easy to pick up objectives. I actually really like that there's only one kind of gun and two powerups. I appreciate the (probably?) realistic physics of momentum/inertia in space, but it was a little frustrating that my thrusters seemed to struggle and take a long time to help me reverse direction of movement. Also that getting hit by an enemy added so much additional momentum. So yeah, biggest gripe is that I wish the controls were tighter. I also lost track of where I was in space in relation to Earth, so maybe a minimap or just an indicator to help point the direction back would be helpful. Finally, I wish the starfield in the background were a little more prominent. Granted I was playing on a crap monitor, but the stars were so dim that I didn't really get a sense of relative speed and couldn't tell how fast I was going in any direction. But I loved blasting those aliens, and the music and blaster sfx were good!

edit: like some other commenters, I thought it was cool you could accidentally damage earth yourself. That's a nice touch and additional degree of difficulty.

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback!  I did plan a radar and some indicators to get back to Earth, just ran out of time.  I used a Kenny asset for the background but stretched it and it made it hard to see.  I thought about adding something more but wasnt sure what to add... For the Earth to be shot and destroyed I had planned crying out SFX, like it Star Wars... millions of voices shouting out and then silence.... couldnt find something to fit that :S  Thrust was my motivation for movement, will look at that more to improve it :)

Submitted

Of course! And also, totally get that this was a jam and a lot things don't make it in under the deadline. I love the idea of the crying out SFX when the Earth is destroyed. I hope you get a chance to add that in later!

This is a lot of fun! I'm a big fan of games with floaty space movement like asteroids, lunar lander, etc., I think it works really well here and adds to the difficulty in a good way. I think the acceleration could be increased a bit, and the knockback decreased a bit but otherwise I really enjoyed it! I like the detail of being able to damage earth yourself though it felt a little unfair when enemy ships wound up ontop of the earth (though they thankfully don't seem to stay there too long which is nice).

Also love the simple design of your main menu conveying the controls, it makes it very easy to understand at a glance and jump right in!

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback!  The classic games were my inspiration. :)  The movement does need improving, and I added the Earth damaging by your shots too to make it a little different and to make players be careful.  In testing I was more the Earth destroyer than the aliens, lol.  My main menu always looks the same to me, I tried to change it up a little this time.  Glad you enjoyed! :)

Very FUN and UNIQUE idea on this game! AWESOME WORK!!! GREAT ART!!! NICE MECHANICS!!! This was a fun challenging game. Loved it.

Developer

Thank you for playing and the kind feedback!  Glad you enjoyed it :)

I liked the detail that you can shoot the earth by accident. The booster feels slow and the controls feel difficult but perhaps it's intended? Overall I think you did a good job with the game.

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback!  The amount of times I shot the Earth by accident while testing Id be surprised if they ever let me back :)

Submitted

Nice visuals.
Controls feel a little odd? Maybe you wanted them that way?
Also good music and SFX. Liked the fact that I can damage Earth hehe!

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback!  I was trying for a thrust/star dust/space taxi vibe.  It did not go over well :)

I'm amazed they let me graduate flight school T_T

Nice game, it looks great! I sucked at the controls but that's probably a skill issue lmao

Developer

Thank you for playing and your feedback!  Controls need to be tweaked to make it easier, its not a skill issue :)

Nice to see another defend the earth take! And a good one aswell. I got oushed away from earth by the invaders and got a littlebit lost, enhancing the background with stars/planets with a higher density closer to earth could be an indicator. Outside of that great work!

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback.  Getting lost is a problem so thank you for the ideas to remedy it! :)

Submitted

Cool game that is very fun to play! I would like to see a boost button for the movement but overall great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and feedback.  The ship is slow, I had planned on a speed upgrade, but ironically ran out of time.  I wasnt fast enough! :)  Boost I hadnt thought of, ty ty

Submitted

I really like the idea and the concept, the ship just needs more thrust.  Especially with the massive knockback that the enemies have.  I have no idea where the earth is at this point because I was never going to get back to it.  If there wasn't the knockback I would have been fine with the low thrust but that took a lot of the fun out of the game for me.

Developer

Thank you for playing and the feedback.  The controls are definitely going to change, and I'll reduce the knockback.  I had planned a radar or an arrow system but ran out of time. :)

Submitted

Great game, I love it! I wish only if movement was a little eazier :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and reviewing.  Movement and knockback are my main pain points :)

Submitted

Nice work, especially as a solo dev! I liked the mechanic of getting knocked away from the thing you were supposed to protect -- I felt like you didn't even need lives at that point: just have the aliens knock you away and then demolish the Earth. That said, I'm glad you didn't do that, because the knockback effect, coupled with the lower thrust on the player ship, made navigating back to Earth brutally hard. :P

A fun game that evokes arcade classics. Wish you had had more time as I think you are on to something fun!

Developer

Thank you for playing and reviewing.  Really appreciate the feedback, I ended up with only a few days as I was on vacation when the jam started.  But it did give me time to think on the theme, and I like tweaking and redoing the classics.  Retro fun all the way! :)

I didn't undestand this game xD, I need destroy the earth? or waiting the enemies to spawn?

Oh I see, I just go to away from the earth

Developer

Thank you for playing and reviewing.  It wasnt until I research your comments that I realized all enemies focus on the player and should be focused on destroying the Earth.  Player is supposed to defend it, even tho you can technically shoot it.  :)

Submitted

Great game idea. i had some problem to get my ship to fly where i wanted, but it's mostly my fault, i never play such games. i should do it more. Friendly Fire killed my earth.

the only option i really missed is to lower the volume or turn off music /sounds.

Developer

Thank you for playing and reviewing.  The movement is difficult, so dont feel bad on it.  :)  Ive never done a settings page before, will look into best ways to add it

Submitted

Great idea. Nice game atmosphere.

Thank you for playing :)
